what does this say about Ince? or maybe he will play right back?
Possibly says more about Mattila after tuesday

But Mattilla had brilliant stats at his last team....

Good point
But where was Ince on Tuesday ?
I had pencilled him in to replace Parker but we wasn't even a sub
Did I miss something ? Has he been injured ? Seriously ?
I also thought he would start in place of parker, so was surprised.

And has done ok (nothing more than ok) in the few games he has been involved in....up till tuesday. But then EVERYONE on tuesday was shite.

The point about Baird is that he has loads of guts and determination. He was wayward when he started at Fulham, looking way out of his depth at right back, and the crowd was very critical of him. But he stayed, and found a reasonably regular place when we were in the Premiership and became something of a favourite - because of his guts and determination rather than his adequate but nothing special skill levels. I think he is a great addition, and one who should not have been pushed out in the first place. If we had kept Baird, Sidwell and Brede when we were relegated I'm sure we would be markedly better placed than we currently are.

Perhaps I'm not so sentimental but the old Goons song, I'm walking backwards for Christmas, comes to mind.

Sitting at work and just had to tell my colleague as I was beaming, fab news!

Great news ! Odd that Derby were willing to let him go as he's played 13 games for them this season.

Someone's having fun with his Wikipedia entry !

After leaving West Brom, Baird signed for Derby County in June 2015 on a two-year contract.[23] 5 months later, following his wife's moaning he was shipped out on loan to Fulham  :005:

I'd happily walk back to the Premier League days!

Could be the short term answer to a number of problems.  Good luck Chris - help us out please!

Wow - great to have him back, but quite a surprise!
Please can we try to persuade Danny Murphy to put his boots back on for a few months too?!

Woolly Mammoth

He is a warrior and a leader, and he is versatile, so it can only be a plus to have him in the ranks.

Can't see a bad side to this especially as its only a short term loam

Bairdinho was a favourite when he left us but in his first season, when we played him out of position at right back,he was badly exposed by premiership wingers, remember that dreadful first game against Arsenal.

We have a need at right back right now but dare we try him in that position and risk history repeating itself. Is he really any better than all the defensive midfield options we already have, Ince, Mattila, Tunnicliffe and Parker or do we plan to fit him in at the back instead   of Burn, Lovebite,Madll or Ream.

A really surprise signing, and difficult to see the sense of it.

However, welcome back Bairdinho, you can be sure of the fans support, we just loved your attitude and spirit.

Well a bit of a shock. Where will we play him I wonder?

Could always play right-back......

And it would remind him just how, ahem, wonderful the fans were to him.  :005:

Must admit, I had said that somewhat tongue in cheek..................I had never felt so sorry for somebody than I did for Baird in the early days when he was playing right-back....

Mmmm! Not sure what to make of this?

He is certainly the kind of player we need personality wise but don't get too excited, he won't have got better since he left!

I'm very pleased about this and had thought that he might have returned in the summer.

Reading some of the (not many admittedly) posts on a Derby forum suggests that their fans are not unhappy he's left.
