There's an MK Dons fan here at work, he spent last week boasting they were going to tank us. I was quietly tolerant of him as he is young and has yet to learn the downside of such behaviour.

On Friday he asked me if I was confident (as I had been quietly smiling at his taunts), I told him I was confident of our ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, but a defeat would probably finish us off.

He was at the game on Saturday.

Today he came in gushing with praise for our lot, demanding to know how we were in trouble if we played like that all the time as we had battered his lot from start to finish.

I know it is all about opinions and perspectives, but an outsider's view can be interesting.

By the way, he loved the Cottage.

Ok - we won !!!! Much needed victory but against a very poor team and let's be very clear we were very poor. That was a relegation performance but may not lead to that. Results elsewhere mean we are still very vulnerable and I saw nothing to think otherwise.

For those that think SJ is the answer, can you honestly say that you are watching improved play ?? I'm very clear that we need not only a new squad but a new coach. We are still not where we should be as a club/team. Please don't settle for this crap, if we can stay up, we need to be bold and get the right man in.

"Oh now we don't."  "Oh yes we do."
Why do I read and write this stuff?

Mr Nogood your words above are the very reason i have stopped making comments on games.

Rupert - reference your post earlier:

I agree it is good to get a view from the other side. I posted a while back about a conversations I have had with a Wolves and a Brighton fan.  Both were incredulous that we are sniffing around in the basement, how the mighty fall and what a nice ground we have!

It will all be the same next season except we will probably be odds on to be relegated - until such time as we get a new owner nothing is going to change.

Bad management from the owner downwards leaves us as a bunch of no hopers - if we can't beat MK Dons with ease what prospect is there for this club under the present regime?

The better players will all be gone in the summer - nothing to stay at this club for - my prediction is League 1 football for the 2017/2018 season

As soon as the starting lineup was announced, it was evident that pragmatism, not style, was the order of the day.  Four central defenders and three essentially holding midfielders -- the statement by SJ was that Fulham was not going to give this game away.  As disappointing as it might be from a fan's perspective, it is hard to criticize the manager for playing strictly for the points under the circumstances.  Fulham has demonstrated too much fragility at the back to risk losing such an important match.

Count me in the camp that has seen a huge improvement in the team's performances since SJ took over.  The passing and pressing have both improved, and it is evident the manager has a vision of how he wants the team to play. The good work the manager is doing just seems to be repeatedly undone by individual errors and some bad luck.  I think that is indicated by the fact that team's goal differential is not reflective of a relegation candidate.

Unfortunately, I suspect that, as long as relegation threatens, we may see similar performances.  The emphasis will be on survival, so let's be happy with the three points to get us where we can afford to indulge in better football.
