Is Ross our best ever free kick taker?

I go back to about 77 and struggle to remember anyone better.

In truth, my best option is maybe Saha but I don't think he comes close

SP

I think he is.  Think he's also caught Gray up on the leading scorer front.

HillFace

The above may be nonsense

Sir Alec of good Stock

Difficult to compare as the weight of the ball and the way it moves in the air have changed greatly since I started watching FFC in 1968 which has made a great difference to what you can do with a free kick.
I think that Alan Mullery and Kevin Locke should be added to the list.

For his very brief time, Jimmy Bullard was top draw

Gray is two ahead (a lot of people forget the two he scored for Brentford before moving to Burnley).

It is a two horse race now between Ross (21) and Gray (23).

Rest of the top 10 (same goals then ranked by goals assisted):

3) Abel Hernandez - 16
4) Chris Martin - 15
5) Nahki Wells - 15
6) Alan Judge - 14
7) Fernando Forestieri - 14
8) Moussa Dembele - 14
9) Jonathan Kodjia - 14
10) Tomer Hemed

EJL

We could quite easily end the season with the top and third-highest scorers in the division. Crazy.

Lighthouse

We have also scored more away goals than anybody else in the Championship and are second behind Burnley overall for goals scored. A bizarre stat when you look where we are.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

TrexFFC

Well it's not all that bizarre when you look at the number of games involving clean sheets and amount of goals conceded.

Ross does seem to have some beauties.

WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH... Fulham, the team that struggled for so long in the Premier League away from home, that were a JOKE when it came to their away record, have scored the most goals away from home?

Nothing in football makes sense anymore

I nearly mentioned him but his time was too short

Ross is our best player in a very long time
Remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
I will be as good as I can be and when I cross the finishing line I will see what it got me

Imagine how him and McGod would have played together

For sheer importance, Bullards free kicks against Villa and Blackburn earned us 3 points that kept us up so I would say he is up there, despite his time being brief.

Riise.... 0001.gif

He scored plenty of goals from free kicks for other teams and against us, but I don't remember him being prolific for us

Haha!
I had great expectations for Riise when he arrived and expected to see some awesome 40 yard cannonballs from him. Unfortunately, he was awful - I don't remember him getting a single free kick on target. Most ended over the roof!

Holders

Ross or Bullard but I'd have liked to have seen what Mullers could have done with the modern ball. I expect his goal of the season against Leicester would have swerved away, though!

Yes, I think Bullard has to be our best free kick taker in the 60+ years I have been watching Fulham, McCormack is good but he does send a number sailing high over the bar.
