Tried explaining this on twitter.....

A little known rule on FFP for ex PL clubs is they can lose £35M in one season (hence Villa & Newcastle splashing)

That means they can show a total of £61m loss over a 3 season period, one of which would have been in the PL last season.

Given that Villa pretty much ran their team down over last few years, good chance they made a profit last season, so can spend

Hope that sort of clears up how these clubs can do what they are doing, unlike other teams that have been relegated before.

Before we signed Johansen, the club was apparently very keen on signing Ole Selnaes from St Etienn, and has a bid worth around 9m GBP rejected.

Even if we've signed Johansen and Kebano since then it does suggest that we have money to spend if we're prepared to pay that kind of money for a promising central midfielder.

think we all got the wrong end of the stick. all that was said was we're aiming to signing 1 or 2 strikers and there are players in the building having medicals now. so we all assumed one of them was the striker

i am astounded there are no rumours flying around today other than martin, which i'm not sure i believe

hope it means we're being very sneaky somewhere

I imagine the two mentioned by Sarah Brookes in the Jokanovic interview were Kebano and Johansen, not the strikers posters were hoping for.
