Revealed: Aston Villa, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Norwich take note: Fulham's Ross McCormack and his TRUE release clause

Remember how much it cost Tottenham when the Belgian Spur Mousa Dembele went to White Hart Lane? It's the same big price for Mac the Attack

Shhh...He costs more than you think - Ross McCormack gestures

Ross McCormack's release clause at Fulham is the same as it was for the first Mousa Dembele at the Cottage - £15 million.

A number of Premier League club covet the Whites leading hit man, now restored to the Scotland fold. Previous reports suggested £12.5 million will secure the 29-year-old's signature.

But GetWestLondon has been told by reliable sources the player who signed an extension in January keeping him at Fulham until 2020, happily agreed his release should be upped another £2.5m.

It's the same fee as it was for Mousa Dembele, he of the Belgian variety and not the current teenage starlet, when transferred to Tottenham in August 2012.

Boss Slavisa Jokanovic is determined to hang on to McCormack at all costs, especially as he has vowed to build a new team around the forward, with summer targets geared to compliment the player who cost Fulham £11 million from Leeds in July 2014.

McCormack hopes to get a second outing in a week for his country on Saturday evening when Scotland face France in Metz

NORWICH TOLD TO STUMP UP £15M FOR TARGET

According to GetWestLondon, Fulham striker Ross McCormack will cost £15m for any clubs wanting to sign him this summer.

It was originally thought that his release clause at Fulham was £12m. However, the report states that it was upped to £15m after he signed a contract extension with the club earlier this year.

Norwich, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are all thought to be interested. But, they may be put off by his extortionate release clause. Fulham are eager to keep their star player, so are unlikely to sell for anything under his release clause.

This means that any clubs serious about signing McCormack will have to pay £15m to land the Scotsman. McCormack scored 23 goals in the Championship last season, making him an appealing target for any side aiming for promotion next season.

Norwich are likely to pull out of the race now, with eyes to be set to other, cheaper, targets.

It would appear that one of our signings from last summer, Ben Pringle, will be moved on this summer.

Pringle, who arrived from Rotherham United, didn`t establish himself as a regular in the first team and was, subsequently, sent out on loan to an Ipswich Town side managed by Mick McCarthy.

It was thought that Pringle might join the Portman Road based Suffolk club on a permanent basis this summer, however, it appears that there is another offer that could entice Pringle to leave English football.

The Scottish giants, Glasgow Rangers, have, after financial irregularities saw them dumped in the bottom division of Scottish football, climbed back into the Scottish Premier League.

Managed by the former Brentford manager, Mark Warburton, Rangers want Pringle to bring some much-needed experience to their midfield as they seek to re-establish themselves as a force in Scottish football, alongside their deadly rivals Celtic.

Release clause increased for reported Newcastle transfer target

Ross McCormack has been strongly linked with all three promoted clubs, including Newcastle United, whilst the player himself has said that his dream is to one day play in the Premier League.

Due to turn 30 in August, the striker has been linked previously with Newcastle United, in 2014 Leeds claimed the Magpies had actually bid for the player but wouldn't match Fulham's offer of around £11m. Newcastle going on to spend £6m that summer for the more 'bargain' priced Emmanuel Riviere, the French striker managing one league goal in his two years at St James Park.

Meanwhile, Ross McCormack has carried on where he left off with Leeds and has now scored 66 goals in 134 Championship starts over the course of the last three seasons.

A release clause of £12.5m has been widely reported for the Fulham striker but now the local media in West London have revealed that the release clause has actually increased.

Get West London say that they have been informed by 'reliable sources' that when Ross McCormack agreed a new contract extension to 2020 in January of this year, in return he accepted that the release clause figure would be increased to £15m.

Fulham were made the subject of a transfer embargo and weren't able to buy players in the last (January) transfer window due to overspending and breaking strict FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules in the Championship.

However, that embargo is now lifted and owner Shahid Khan is said to be ambitious and willing to spend for a promotion push, with manager Slavisa Jokanovic (recruited December 2015)  desperate to keep McCormack and build a team around him.

The striker may get a game tonight as Scotland provide the opposition for France as they play a pre-Euros friendly in Metz.

It is doubtful whether Newcastle currently have enough goals in their squad to be totally confident of promotion at the first attempt and at least one extra credible striker is essential.

The £15m price tag on a player who turns 30 in August and has never played a single game in the Premier League, sums up just how difficult it could be to find the right player(s).

I guess what we have worry about is that a Premier team doesn't lose a Striker at the last minute, because they might be willing to splash that type of cash. A Championship club might have to think twice because it might be a big chunk of their FFP allowance. Let's hope there is a cut off point where we won't sell, don't want a Dembele/Dempsey situation again.
