Found some pictures of the proposed stand. Forgot how good it was supposed to be...

If it's not already it's going to be the most interesting stadium in the world. Ultra modern state of the art on one side. Historic heritage listed stand on the other side with the cottage, boxed in by two ghetto looking (by comparison) Tin sheds at either end.

Upton Park looked a bit funny with the big stand on one side and the little one on the other side, but this is taking it to a whole new level.

Anyone can blend into the crowd.  How will you standout when it counts?

That was the Ptney end before Mo go involved.
Growing old is mandatory
Growing up is optional

Bring it on - but it's not very attractive to look at. The Mo bowl was much classier.

Not sure development plans have been canned officially but it's not going to happen!

Mince n Tatties

It will look strange being opposite the JH Stand.
The old and the new facing one another.

The Johnny Haynes stand is a pile of Sh1te to be honest.  A stand full of pillars in 2016, impeding the view of fans paying over the odds for Sh1te football..... Come to think of it, we need more pillars. Block the entire view of the field lol.

But seriously, the Johnny Haynes stand needs sorting!! Is it just the exterior facade that's listed? Keep that intact and sort the roof out at least!!

I didn't know that canned beer grew in gardens. Where can I get some of those plants?
Its not that I could and others couldn't.
Its that I did and others didn't.

jarv

when finished, the old ones will come out.....they built it facing the wrong way, facing the pitch instead of the river.

I was glad to see the back of that Woodworm, and does the roof still leak, and please don't mention the restricted view, there or more pillows than at a Slumberland Convention.

Doesn't the works license expire soon . Any sign of spades in the ground yet?

alexbishop

that design has pretty much been binned. Heatherwick coming up with something new.

toshes mate

I assume Heatherwick are still working up new ideas upon the size and usage of the three sides of Craven Cottage that can be developed as the original brief had them reporting back late summer.  I'd also guess the new plans will probably need new approval (which is why Heatherwick were appointed) but will have the touch that makes it both blend into the riverside and stand out, if you catch my meaning.  Now with all the increased value in the dollar against the pound Khan should really be thinking big, graceful and suitable for a PL side, which, of course, we will be by the end of the coming season.

Apprentice to the Maestro

As far as I can recall the club only received approval for the preliminary work on the river earlier this year and that it was always the plan to do the preliminary work on the river front over one summer with the major work starting in the following summer.

Also Heatherwick seem to be predominantly known for design work rather than the more civil engineering side of a build so the assumption that the original work has been completely abandoned and that the redevelopment is on hold without any clear evidence is premature.
