Apprentice to the Maestro

Why are posters so bothered about getting credit from the media? I quite like the low profile and the lack of focus on our players and managers. We tend to only get attention when something is apparently wrong like with Jokanovic's comments at the weekend and attention usually means distractions. I'd rather things were low key and we keep totting up the wins and points below the radar.

Fulham vs. Middlesborough in the 2nd round of the EFL Cup really isn't headline news even if our B team win.

The one thing that does irritate me though is when the media go silly over a club like Spurs having to play all these extra games in the Europa League playing Thursday and Sunday and the impact it might have on their league position without acknowledging that a much smaller club with a very modest squad got to the final and came 12th in the league. And that is not so much because they are ignoring Fulham but that they are so soft and indulgent with the 'big' clubs.

A lot of Fulham fans in the past have had the theory that the media ignore us because they hated Al-Fayed due to him and his conspiracy theories towards Prince Phillip after Dodi & Diana's death.

Crackpot I know, but it's the best reason I can think of as well

Crackpot maybe, but actually makes a lot of sense.

I can assure you it dates back much further than that.

In fact I can remember my dear old Dad writing to the London evening papers (when there were more than one) and complaining about the lack of interest!

actually, I unusually got last nights evening standard before the game.... number of words re fulham match.... zero. so nothing new in being invuisible.

When I listen to talksport it is a litany of liverpool and west ham (occasional Peterborough) the tweo overwhelming darlings of the media, and then a the rest is the so called top four or five clubs. nobody else really gets a look in.

one afternoon i got so fed up I bomarded them with texts saying it was so boring listening to the endless litany of liverpool's xxxxxx crisis or latest transfer target.  wet ham and liverpool, liverpool and west ham, on and on it goes with monotonous regularity. to be fair to talksport i got a series of automated replies, and the presenter tried to deviate for a minute or two but then decided he was gentically pre disposed to discussing one of those two clubs

Jurassic Parker

Would it be too conspiracy theorists of me to suggest the old anti-establishment issue of Fayed vs the monarchs. Certainly Murdoch and co over at big brother headquarters only needed to put a memo in to the hundreds of media outlets they own to be quiet about Fulham and the deed is done, seems no one let Murdoch and co know that Fayed is gone now, you can like us again....  :022:

Or perhaps I should be careful about what I say, my first post, don't want to cement my self as the tinfoil hat type  :005:

We beat a team who were in the same league as us a few months ago. They are nothing special .

If we want more media coverage, we need to be in the premier. We're a small team and we need to help ourselves before the media support us, frankly being in this second rate league, I'm grateful of any coverage devoted to us. Media should be rightfully , focusing on the pinnacle of football in this country.
It was a great feeling having more people talk about us in the premier league and that's where we should aim To be

Then we would not be on the Championship show then would we? clue is in the title, we beat a prem side after 10 changes and we deserved a mention or two from the media

Exactly, I'd just like a nod in our direction, especially when we're playing well.

If Wolves made 10 changes and went and beat Watford in extra time, it wouldn't make a shred of difference. The coverage of domestic cups tends to focus on potential banana skins . Boro went and bought big, but if you strip out those players, the difference between our second string and their reserves are nothing special.

Any big wins, big defeats, stand out performances, disciplinary lapses etc and you can guarantee we will move up the pecking order in media. The media focuses solely of sensationalism and our (past few years) poor brand of football and this years tight one goal in it matches are easily overlooked in favour of sensationalist stories like Newcastle and villas tough start, Huddersfield doing better than expected, another Leeds manager under pressure,...

If football clubs want more coverage then they need larger fan base coverage.  Having a US owner may increase FFC's US fan base especially if Khan gives the team genuine exposure as he has in the opposite direction with American football (at Wembley).  The media respond to advertising potential, banana skins, and, occasionally, good football, but coverage has nothing to do with fairness.

bog

This avoidance of giving us any real credit has been going on for years, I have come to expect it. Mind you ti really p****** me off!!!! Channel 5's football programme is just about the worst ever.  :dft007: :031:

Just watching it now and nothing so far - do you think they'll even mention the F-word?.....

Lighthouse

Blokey Bloke - So Fulham remain undefeated for five years. But Accrington Stanley have problems don't they so I think we need to spend the next five minutes ignoring Fulham and talking about anything.

Girl -  Whatever
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Dodgin

Sky Sports I hardly said anything either and just showed Cairney's goal.  We may get some coverage at the end of October for the top of the table clash against Huddersfield.

Looking out for the Fulham highlights did at least give me a chance to see Sidwell up to his usual antics of giving away a stupid free kick on the edge of the box, dispatched by Shelvey. Let's hope this season we can avoid these errors.

Forever Fulham

Maybe it's a good thing to keep winning and flying under the radar at the same time -- for now anyway.

Mince n Tatties

As soon as our highlights were over they starrted on about
Blackburn and Villa..lol

King_Crud

to be fair, when we first got relegated we were the number 1 team on the football league show......until they realised we were a shower of shite. They probably haven't forgotten.

Oh, and the C5 show is awful in general
