We were staying in the same hotel as Roy Hodgson

Apparently he was watching the England game in the communal TV lounge here in Madeira.  I didn't watch the game but would've loved a chance to thank him for some great memories (so Its probably good I didn't go & disturb his holiday).

Strangely enough, I stayed in the same hotel as him in Monte Carlo back in 2004 after having seen Monaco play Lokomotiv Moscow at the Stade Louis II. Lovely chap, was standing in front of the big screen re-watching the match about 20 minutes after the match had finished.
