Possibly the last of the situation comedy writers. The comedy of war, holiday camps that felt old fashioned and comfortable the moment they appeared. Like all comedy of the time they relied on stereo types yet managed to make you care for the same characters. Not an easy thing to do. The past slips away but with a giggle and a chuckle.
