Going to meet an old workmates after over twenty years, he is a Huddersfield supporter. Haven't been south of Putney Bridge for decades he has suggested we meet at the Star and Garter. Good venue?

It's changed hands so many times over the years that I really don't know anymore. You're probably better off walking across the road to the Bricklayers though.

The Dukes head, next door, is much better. Used to be my local when I lived in Putney.  Love Youngs beer. 082.gif

I'd agree with Jarv, Dukes Head. Isn't the Brickllayers an away fans pub on match days?

If it is, I've been drinking in the wrong pub for the last 8 years!

I have held court with many an away fan in the Brickies who always seem to be the sort prepared to chat about anything and it's never rowdy or edgey. I remember a small group of Blackburn fans based in London and Surrey who at the sound of the virtual 'thirty minute time to go warning' decided to stay in the pub as they were only half way round the beer selection. Sunday lunch at The Duke was a feast last time we dined there, must have been one of those daft Sunday games.
