NFR; Another £50m to the London Stadium....

...another chunk of money to the stadium from the hapless taxpayer....

...and the rather fortunate West Ham still pay their paltry £2.5m to play there, at a ground the supporters clearly don't like because of the distance from the action (remember QPR at the White City), and one that seems a magnet for crowd trouble.

Perhaps after all Tottenham had the right idea in saying that for football, the stadium would have to be demolished and rebuilt, and they were the lucky ones for not being successful in moving there.

Just like the billion-pound millennium tent, another government led financial fiasco that is put to rights by an increased tax bill for all, and in a sporting sense allows West Ham to divert, rather unfairly, revenue into players and wages rather than meeting the full impact of fixed costs.

It makes you think of our own football ground with even greater reverence than before, don't it?

Aren't they having the World Athletics meeting there next year

West Ham, of course, deserve everything they get but it remains a scandal that public money should be involved in any of this. The slicksters at WHU have cleverly cashed in on the fact that the owning authority was desperate to find a tenant rather than having a white elephant on their hands.

Might I be permitted a personal rant on this matter  092.gif ?
Who allowed this excrescence to become called 'London Stadium'? Olympic Stadium, fair enough, Stratford Stadium, Not-too-far-from-West Ham-but-nearer-to-Orient Stadium, Porno Park, Seymour Ground (the one after Boleyn, gettit?) if you wish. But it's nothing to do with the rest of London.

I hate the name but even worse is WHU trading themselves off with 'London' on their badge and in other marketing stuff.
I'm surprised the other clubs in London have not got together to see if they could stop that.

Although based on the fact that they are so far from the pitch maybe the Seeless stadium would be more apt!

I think Seymour stadium is perfect, with the side bar of Downton Park

Jane Seymour was the only one of Henry VIII wives to die other than having her head chopped off. Bad omen for the Stadium if it is named after her.

Quite agree. Thank goodness the Olympic relic is in east London and we were never a candidate for it.

Putting 'London' onto their badge only makes them look pathetic.  They're not as big a club as they like to think they are if they have to tell people where they are based.

Even better is their putting: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park 2016-17 under the badge: The half Union Jack on each sleeve (short sleeves) and finally placing the long/lat on the inside of the collar (like any of their fans could interpret what that means anyways).

I would have thought the Kappa logo would have been more appropriate for the Porn Stars shirt:

Logical is just in the name - don't expect it has anything to do with my thought process, because I AM the man who sold the world.
