Brentford and Fulham will pay tribute to servicemen and women, and former players, this evening before our match with Fulham at Griffin Park as part of Remembrance Sunday commemorations and the First World War Centenary. This month marks the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme with The Bees joining the EFL in commemorating the sacrifices of service men and women during that, and all other, conflicts.

Among those to lose their lives on The Somme were Brentford players Patrick Hagan, Harry Purver, and Horace Robotham. Their sacrifice, alongside that of the 600,000 British, Commonwealth, and Allied casualties of that battle, will be remembered tonight as will the sacrifices of all those who have fought and died for their country.

Tonight's commemorations:

19.32 – Guard of Honour on the pitch

19.37 – Players and Match Officials to enter the pitch (Captains, and Chairman, to carry out wreaths and lay them in the centre circle)

19.38 – Pre-match handshake

19.40 – Players and match officials to gather on the centre circle (names of fallen players from both teams to be read)

19.42 – Two minutes silence

19.45 – Match kick-off
Made in Hammersmith (1968)

Fulham FC losses in WW1 included:
"...the Club lost many players in the four-year fighting: Ernie Thompson, William Maughan, centre-half William Borland at the Battle of Loos and wing-half Fred Waterson were among those killed."

The Enclosurite

Thanks for the heads up.  What with the pubs being so close to the ground and the inevitable slow queues to enter through security as usual, I can imagine a few latecomers still innocently being unaware of this - let's hope it doesn't reflect badly on the club if any singing/noise is heard during the silence.  We normally have a very respectful bunch of supporters when it comes to occasions like this so hopefully the message will pass on.
¡COYW!

presumably security will mention it and ask for silence as supporters enter the ground.

I am on my way to watch a boys high school game. My friends son is the coach of one of the teams.

kick off 4pm, 8pm your time so I will have my own private moment of silence. Then checking my phone every 5 minutes for the Fulham score . 049:gif
