Last Friday ,southern trains cancelled services because of strike action .Also SWT have been closed between Richmond and Clapham Junction for the past few Saturdays ,So its coach or car  for this Saturday

Actually, it wasn't because of strike action, but trains were cancelled. It's certainly worth getting to Brighton station earlier than 1.30, or using the 25 bus or a taxi (and arrange pickup after). Or go to Lewes before / after instead of Brighton.

Has anyone tried the bus option from Brighton or Lewes? The last 2 years the train has been dreadful. Google says it's a 75min walk from Brighton station so very tempted to try bus there and part walk/bus back after parking free in hove. Zone W free from 11am until 7pm. 25 goes to ground from palmeria square hove every 15 min.

Thanks for the heads up.
Could they affect travel from Lewes?

If we are in the same division next year...... Bus 25 from Hove was great, had a seat all the way and it stops outside the AMEX. After the game we walked past the station on a long, well used, well lit and wide footpath towards brighton, then along the lewes road, all the buses that came from the ground were full but then a nearly empty number 48 (which does not pass the ground) going to Brighton Station pulled up. Actually got out by the Pavillion at 5:45.  By far the best journey to and from the ground so far for us and hopefully one we can repeat next year, unless we go up! COYWs

I got the 25 from the top of the slope at the back of the away end towards the Virgin Active sports club. Apart from some prat who was dinging the bell at every so (& not getting off) it was plain sailing all the way to the Vogue Gyratory. (Sorry about the Brighton details everyone)
