Transfer gossip: Fulham and Bees linked with Arsenal youngster

Brentford and Fulham are keen to take Chuba Akpom on loan from Arsenal, the Daily Mirror say.

Cardiff are also said to be interested in the 21-year-old striker, who is currently recovering from a back injury.

Akpom did not start a match during a month on loan at Brentford in 2014. It is claimed that the Bees want to take him back to Griffin Park.

He is on course to return to action soon and Arsenal are said to be keen for him to pick up more first-team experience in the new year.

Akpom ended last season on loan at Hull, where he impressed, and has also had loan spells at Nottingham Forest and Coventry.

Fulham FC unveils domed training ground

Members of the community will be able to benefit from the all-weather training pitch

Championship football club Fulham FC has opened the doors to its new "all-weather" training ground, which will be used by the first team, academy and surrounding community.

The Motspur Park facility was built to maintain the club's EPPP Category One status – a benchmark used the measure the quantity and quality of home-grown players developed.

Players will benefit from the all-weather dome, which has been erected to protect the training pitches.

As well as players employed by Fulham FC, the club will open it out to other people in the community.

The facility will be used for walking football, the Fulham FC Ladies Team, the Premier League Kicks inclusion programme, the Fulham Deaf Team, the Girls Development Centre and the Football Performance Centre.

Shahid Khan, the American-Pakistani owner of Fulham FC, funded all the improvement work himself.

"By generously funding the extensive project of works, the Fulham team has a first-class facility to train, our envied academy can prosper, and the community will benefit from the excellent programmes our Foundation delivers," said chief executive Alistair Mackintosh.

"It is an accomplishment everyone at the club should be proud of."

Fulham face battle to keep hold of youngster Stephen Humphrys

HITC Sport understands Premier League and Championship clubs eye Fulham starlet.

Fulham face a fight to keep hold of young starlet Stephen Humphrys with a host of Premier League and Championship clubs tracking the striker, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Humphrys has been catching the eye for Fulham this season and is currently top goal-scorer in the under-23 league with eight goals in ten appearances.

The 19-year-old's rich vein of form has alerted a number of clubs to Humphrys' talents with scouts from Premier League and Championship sides keeping tabs on his progress.

Humphrys has been a prolific scorer for Fulham at Under-16, Under-18, and now PL2 level since his arrival from Bury in the summer of 2013.

Humphrys is highly regarded within the corridors of power at Fulham and he is currently on the fringes of Slavisa Jokanovic's first-team at Craven Cottage.

Humphrys signed a professional contract with Fulham in 2014 and the forward's suitors have been alerted to the fact that his contract in West London expires at the end of the season.

The teenager's growing list of suitors are expected to watch Humphrys in action on Monday when Fulham take on West Ham United and the Cottagers are bracing themselves for a battle to keep hold of the teenager if he continues his rapid progress.

Fulham boss calls on his side to maintain their attacking philosophy and improve on their finishing after Brighton loss
Former Fulham stopper David Stockdale made a string of first-half saves to stop the visitors extending their lead after McDonald's 18th-minute opener

Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic said his side were punished for poor first-half finishing but insists he will not change his side's philosophy following only their second away defeat of the season.

Former Fulham stopper David Stockdale made a string of first-half saves to stop the visitors extending their lead after Kevin McDonald's 18th-minute opener.

Strikers Sam Baldock and Glenn Murray both hit exquisite second-half goals to turn the game around and hand victory to the Seagulls.

Defeat for Jokanovic's men means they lost ground on the top six, and the Serbian was critical of his side for not being clinical enough in front of goal and for losing their concentration in the second half.

The Fulham boss said: "It was an ugly afternoon for us. We should be going back to London with some points, but we paid the price for not taking our chances and they were more clinical.

"They punished us very hard. I don't have the sensation that they dominated us in the second half and made so many chances. They made only half chances - the complete opposite of what we made in the first half.

"If you don't score, you need to concentrate defensively and we didn't."

Jokanovic played down a heated exchange between the two benches in the second half after a touchline altercation between Baldock and Stefan Johansen.

"It was nothing special," he added. "Chris Hughton is a nice man and he has a good culture. It was not a problem and you see these things in football.

"What's important here is that we don't change our attacking philosophy, continue to be brave and believe in each other."
