IT'S TIME FOR JOKANOVIC TO GIVE THESE 2 WONDER KIDS A CHANCE AT FULHAM

Fulham certainly look like contenders for a play-off spot this year under the guidance of boss Slavisa Jokanovic, after an impressive start to their current Sky EFL Championship campaign.

The Cottagers currently lie in 10th place in England's second tier, after 6 wins, 7 draws and 5 defeats, and it is clear that there is a great flow of optimism and confidence going around Craven Cottage at the moment.

With the January transfer window looming, for many clubs competing for the play-offs, it is the time to bolster their squad and bring in fresh new talent in order to sustain their promotion push.

However, having a squad blessed with such talent, maybe Jokanovic needs to look closer to home for fresh talent, rather than getting the chequebook out.

With that being said, here, FLW writer George Harbey identifies TWO wonderkids that Slavisa Jokanovic needs to take a chance on.

RYAN SESSEGNON

Sessesgon has been in and out of the first team this term, despite being possibly one of the most promising prospects the Championship has to offer.

The 16-year-old attacking full back has netted twice in his 5 appearances for the Cottagers, and has really impressed the Craven Cottage faithful.

When you have a player with Sessegnon's potential, you need to use it to full ability before losing your asset to a top Premier League side, hence why he needs to be featuring consistently for Jokanovic's men.

LARNELL COLE

Cole is out on loan at Inverness until January, however Jokanovic should think twice about sending him back out on loan to the Scottish club.

The 23-year-old attacking midfielder has only made 1 appearance for Fulham since his arrival from Manchester United in 2014, despite being such a promising starlet for the Red Devils.

And after gaining experience from loan spells at MK Dons and Shrewsbury Town, now is the time for the Fulham boss to make Cole a regular first team player, as he still has a lot to prove.

Fulham striker Chris Martin not letting inconsistent goalscoring form affect his game
After four goals in as many games Chris Martin is keen to get himself back on the score sheet

Hunting for goals: Chris Martin

Fulham forward Chris Martin has insisted that he isn't worried about how regularly he is finding the net.

It has been a famine or a feast for the Derby loanee since joining the club on transfer deadline day, with all four of his goals coming in the space of four games in October.

However, the Scottish international, who is the club's joint leading goalscorer with Tom Cairney, is not worried about how regularly he finds the target.

He said: "I want to score every week. I think probably the last couple of games I haven't had too many chances or shots on goal but I've felt like a big part of it especially in the first half a big part of the build-up play and I've just not been on the end of them but I'm sure they will come."

In the groove: Chris Martin

Martin remains confident that he will return to his October form and believes being part of a thriving team will ensure he get plenty of opportunities to score.

He added: "I'm playing in a very good team that create chances so I'm not worried about that and the next one that comes my way I'll take."

Martin will hope to score to return to the scoresheet when the Whites host Reading on Saturday in the first of three home games in a fortnight.

Reading FC Bookie Watch: Fulham (A)

All that stands between Reading and six wins in a row is Fulham. So what do the bookies make of our chances?

OK so Craven Cottage may have been where the wheels fell off last season but lightning couldn't possibly strike twice could it? Here's what the bookmakers are forecasting.

All odds are best available and taken from Oddschecker.com on Thursday morning.

Match Result
Fulham Win     Draw     Reading
     11/10       13/5       14/5

Reading's recent form doesn't seem to have convinced the oddsmen that we're favourites for this and surprisingly some bookies will still give you close to 3/1 on a Reading victory on Saturday.

The home side are close to even money, with Betfred offering just over that for a Fulham three points. The draw meanwhile is a 13/5 chance.

If you do happen to think lightning will strike twice and Fulham will win 4-2, the best odds you can get right now are 60/1 with BetVictor. A Reading 1-0 at 12/1 and 2-0 at 22/1 are both tasty, but without Liam Moore suspended you're not quite sure what we're going to get.

First Goalscorer
Y Kermorgant   8/1
D Samuel   17/2
G McCleary   11/1
J Mendes   12/1
R Beerens   14/1
Y Meite   16/1
C Harriott   16/1

Jaap Stam has ruled him out but Yann Kermorgant is still an 8/1 shot to score first while Dom Samuel is at 17/2. The bookies seem to have caught on to Garath McCleary's goalscoring form and his odds have dropped to as low as 7/1 with some outlets, although you can still get 11/1 with Unibet. With McCleary's latest penalty miss and Kermorgant injured, Danny Williams might be given one last chance from the spot and his odds of 16/1 with Bet365 seem pretty generous.

On the Fulham side, Chris Martin is the favourite at 5/1 while Lucas Piazon is 17/2 to come back to haunt us.

Championship Betting
Once again our odds to go up have been cut. From 10/1 two weeks ago, the best you can get right now is 6/1 on Reading to be promoted this season. Newcastle, Brighton, Norwich, Aston Villa, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby are still more fancied by the bookmakers at the moment.

However, we are third favourites to win the league, down to 50/1, where you could have got 150/1 this time last week.

For you pessimists out there, we're also 250/1 to get relegated.

That's your lot for this week, as always please gamble responsibly. #gambleaware

Fulham v Reading FC: Why Saturday's trip to Craven Cottage gives Royals a chance to banish some demons
Several members of Jaap Stam's squad will head to West London this weekend with bad memories of their last visit

Reading head to Fulham on Saturday with confidence oozing through every member of the squad.

Five straight wins in the Championship, with just one goal conceded during that run, has seen Jaap Stam's impressive side rise up to third in the table.

But Saturday's trip to Fulham represents a big challenge - not just on the pitch, but mentally as well.

We all remember what happened at Craven Cottage last season. Just like this year Reading made the short journey to West London full of confidence and siting two places and six points off top spot in the table.

And - just like they will be this weekend - they were cheered on by a huge number of travelling fans.

When Orlando Sa made it 2-0 early in the second half we all thought a comfortable three point haul was in the bag. But how wrong we were.

Within seven minutes Fulham were 3-2 up and Moussa Dembele added a fourth before the end to complete an amazing comeback.

Reading were stunned - the confidence vanished and a campaign which promised so much quickly disintegrated into farce.

Within a month we had the controversy over Steve Clarke talking to, ironically enough, Fulham - then having rejected a move to West London he was sacked soon after anyway following a string of poor results.

Brian McDermott came in but couldn't halt the slide that was already well underway - and Reading ended up finishing 17th in the Championship.

It was disastrous final seven months of the season - and it all started with that capitulation at the Cottage.

There's been plenty of change at Reading since then, with Jaap Stam and Brian Tevreden conducting a huge overhaul of the squad - but there are still players here who will have the horrors of that second half against Fulham last season fresh in their minds.

So this Saturday's game represents a real opportunity to go back there and make amends - to banish the demons and lay down another statement of intent.

Many observers from outside Reading will point to who they have beaten in the recent winning run - teams like Rotherham, Wigan and Burton Albion - who are all struggling at the wrong end of the table.

But Fulham are enjoying a decent season under Slavisa Jokanovic and have picked up some good results, including a thumping 5-0 home win against Huddersfield Town last month.

So if Reading are to make it six out of six they will have to be at the top of their game, especially as they are without the influential Liam Moore due to suspension.

A win will go along way to silencing any doubters that remain - it will help put those memories of last season's collapse to bed once and for all.
