After reading about the Southend groundsman's indiscretion I recall one at Reading's old ground, Elm Park. A long while back just before a season was to start he gave the pitch a final cut and watering putting something suitable in with the water to stimulate grass growth. He can back the next morn as was alarmed to see that the grass well off colour....he then realised he had put weed killer in with the water.... fp.gif
