Surely we knew??

Sorry, another Chris Martin thread, but;

Surely we knew Chris Martin was going to sign a new contract with Derby County? If not, there needs to be a full investigation, as once again, these are unsettling tactics. After this, I fail to see how he can play for FFC again.

If we were aware, surely the deal was to allow him to sign a new contract, but he was to knuckle down for the rest of the season. If so, why did Derby chose to announce it now, rather than the summer?

Only logic I can see, is that we have imanent incomings, and that all 3 parties have now agreed that Chris Martin can return. If not, none of this makes any sense.

If we've handled this poorly again, and have been had over by Chris Martin, McClaren and Derby, I now fear the worst.

We could a) go the rest of the season without a capable striker b) our transfer policy will come under serious scrutiny again c) the fans will lose complete trust in Kahn d) more seriously Jokanovic will walk.

Interesting few days coming up, and I feel we all deserve answers.

We knew, and the club knew well before Xmas.

Not sure what all the big surprise is - it's been obvious from day one that CM, while being a damn good player, hasn't put any effort in at all - how anyone can support the owner in saying that it is good business to wait until the end of the transfer window they are bonkers - we needed to have signed a forward on 1/1/17 - so obvious that there is no ambition from the owner whatsoever - just a fop to con loyal supporters into buying  tickets

The Martin situation makes the club look naive and inept. Knowing what we, the supporters, know now, it is unforgiveable that we did not have at least one striker and preferably two lined up for early January.
'Whatever it takes'?  It takes common sense as well as investment to get us back to the Premier league.

The lack of any striker signings may not be all down to the Club. Players we may have targeted may not want to come to us, their transfer fees may be exhorbitant, personal terms may be too high, their parent club may not have signed their targets.
It is only a few Prem clubs who can spend over the odds for players hardly anyone has heard of. There are a few Championship clubs doing silly $hit or bust business which is more likely to have FFP embargos if it fails.

If that's the case, then we are targeting the wrong players

Amen to that.  I cannot blame Khan for the incompetence of his Board given that there are stalwarts sitting their and apparently unwilling or unable to do what it takes to kick start our recruitment processes in line with the renewed energy SJ has created on the pitch.  But if Khan knew what was good for Fulham he'd sack all of those unconnected with coaching players and organising teams.
