Comes on as a second half substitute and scores a hat trick. Couldn't do that with us now could you?

Someone once asked me, "Why Fulham?".
My response, "Well, lad, you just haven't seen the light yet"

@jolslover

He was good for us, to be honest.

And look at who he was playing against
CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.

I think he can do that all day playing in the County League. But I will be interested to see if he makes it in a better league. I was not such a great fan of his as others are. We could have done with him now however.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Yeah forget it was against L1 standard opposition.. at best and one goal was a penalty
I was there, standing in the Putney end

Yeah, penalties are pretty much guaranteed goals.

Dembele is always going to score goals wherever he goes. He's strong, can sniff out chances in the 6 yard box, and scores with both feet and his head...and he's still young. Obviously would score less in the Premiership compared with the Scottish League but he would still cut it. I could never understand the criticism of him on this Board, (and there was a lot).
Could we have kept him? He, and his agent, wanted to go so he refused our contract. It's not so easy to keep players out of contract as some think. Could we have given him a better contract?...obviously yes but he still would have gone, probably. Got to remember, as well, that he walked from Paris St. Germaine when his contract expired to come to us.
The inequitable thing is the paucity of the "development" compensation fee for players that have been developed by clubs but who then walk on. A share of future transfer fees would be fairer and would encourage smaller clubs to develop more players.

Whereas our strikers are playing against a Birmingham pub side who hadn't won in 10 . How many did they get yesterday, please remind me ? Dembele is now being touted as a 40million striker, but what do they know eh, after all we are the experts, we watched him a few times when he was 18 against Rotherham & co.
Why do the people who continually dig out Dembele remind me so much of the remoaners ? Move on, we lost him, history.

Interesting to see people have digs at Dembele. I suppose you're happier with Chris Martin on loan?

He has made an excellent move - banging in goals in an average league but at a club with far much more profile than Fulham and bigger clubs already sniffing around him.

Dembele is the op's God? I've heard of player worship, but this is taking it too far:)

He was very good for us though, and his goals helped keep us up.

Young dembele,a real talent i said it when he was here. But a young man that has and belives in his ability backed up by his management team.
As a fulham die hard not happy when he went, but to him and his team its business, long gone days of mr haynes.

I missed this match but have watched two or three Celtic matches with him on the pitch. I believe that the SPL has made him. He was always strong, but now he's much more capable of taking the physical pressure. He's also extremely confident which is, of course, the most important thing for a striker.

One full season of getting the lumps kicked out of him in Scotland should be a good step on a very good career.

I'm pleased he's doing well. He never did anything to offend me.

What a weird thing to say, the op asked why dembele couldn't score a hat trick for us. And the only reason he didn't, was because we didn't play teams of St Johnstones quality last season.  And I agree, our Derby striker is p1ss poor, and we would be better off with dembele. Doesn't negate how poor a league the spl is though does it, I mean there can't be too many times in any league throughout the history of football that a team has a 27 point lead after just 24 games.

Not really. People here will always find an excuse to knock him. Cauley Woodrow went to Southend Div 2 and scored twice I think in 20 odd games, before he was sent back, people cry we never gave him a chance, when he was naff. Whereas when dembele decides that Fulham is a mess and he's better off somewhere else, its just too bitter a pill to swallow for some. He could score a hatrick in a CL final, and some would still be looking at the negatives. His potential is enormous, he's imroving week by week and give him 2-3 more yrs and I wouldnt be surprised if he's not one of the top 5 strikers in the world. Are we allowed to say that yet, because he's only playing in Scotland ? Donut.

I don't think Dembele will ever by anywhere near the top 5 strikers in the world--he'd already have to be a lot better than he is now--but he may well be the next Benteke or Lukaku if he's lucky.

The story I've heard, from another poster on here as it happens, is that he spat his dummy out when we didn't offer the contract he thought he deserved the season before he broke into the first team and decided thereafter he'd never accept anything we offered him. Since I heard that it crossed my mind he may have gone to foreign club, meaning we got no compensation, just to spite us. That being the case, I'd just like to see him crash and burn. Or just get snapped in his next match.

Pfft, what's wrong with hoping someone gets "snapped" based on an assumption that is itself based on heresay?

not good.
As it happens it was our choice not take some money and sell him to spurs last January.
Wishing a player and one of our ex ones to get crocked is low. I'd expect better from you.

Very fair summary.
