I guess we'll see how comitted he is come January....

Arsenal Target Mark Schwarzer Threatens To Quit Fulham For Nothing

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has threatened to leave Fulham for nothing next summer when his contract runs out unless they grant him his wish to join Premier League rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners' attempts to prise the Australian international away from Craven Cottage has so far failed with two offers having been turned down by Fulham. Schwarzer has now reportedly told manager Mark Hughes that he will go on strike throughout the season if the club continue to block his hopes of leaving for the Emirates.

Schwarzer is into the last year of his current deal with Fulham and will walk away as a free agent next summer unless the club signs him on a new deal. The goalkeeper will also be free to sign a pre-contract in January with another club and has laid out his threats to the Fulham hierarchy.

The Australian will also choose to play for his country in the Asia Cup in January and miss a month of Premier League fixtures during that time. Schwarzer had previously said that he would not play in the tournament but instead stay with Fullham but the situation has escalated to the extent that he will use every available opportunity to force through his desire to play for a big Premier League club.

A growing war of words between player and club has also been fueled by Schwarzer's claims that he sent a transfer request to the management via email but the club have steadfastly denied that any such communication was received.

Fulham boss Hughes is reportedly willing to let the club's former number one leave, but only if he is successful in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given on loan.

I'm pleased that we have managed to hang onto Scwarz and hopeto see him back in the team soon.

Had he have been playing against Blackpool and United - no dissrespect to Stockdale - who has bene fantastic but Schwarz has got 15 years on him and is the superior keeper.

I expect he will leave on a free next summer but do not think this is a problem. We signed him on a free ourselves and therefore stand to lose little from this.

More importantly we have a top class keeper until at least January which could make all the difference to our league placing or cup run. With the difference between each league placing of 1 million he could pay his own way.
