Quite a few years back our great keeper Macedo rolled to ball to Jimmy Greaves gifting a Spurs win at White Hart Lane. Did Button mistake the white shirt as a home game?

To be honest, that occurred to me having viewed the highlights on Sky.  In fact, I was automatically watching 'the team in white' at first and I had to remind myself that that team was Derby.

I think that Button changed his mind about the throw, in mid-flow, but the momentum meant it still left it hands.

I do recall that Macedo incident (from reports at the time).

I think you're giving him too much benefit of the doubt. Anyway, it was more to do with the awful throw than whomever he was throwing it to. He looped it randomly up in the air.
