The Championship is widely regarded as the toughest league to get promoted from. It is also in the top four of European leagues in the level of attendances. The play off final is always referred to as the the result being the biggest match financially as the 'winner takes all'. However match reports in a lot of the daily papers are pitiful. The Mail on Sunday generally offers a 2 by 3 inch one to most games, only the top two get anything of a suitable size. as for leagues one and two..... Midweek matches are often bracketed in a big block of nothingness as we are fobbed off. It is not just about the Premier....and then we have the wonderful Channel 5 coverage....

Thank you and good night

Our press are obsessed with the prem and even in the prem they obsess over about half a dozen clubs.  They are so short sighted, I guess they want to appeal to plastic fans and tourists because they can resort to lazy coverage with a minimum of journalists attending real matches.  I think the broadsheets do a slightly better job, the Telegraph used to offer a broader coverage, but truth be told it is pitiful.  As for the TV media - forget it.

The prem is the only game in town for the media. If you search all the divisions, every week there are imensely interesting and vital games, simply ignored.
It is not the value of the squad but the quality of the sport that countss.
To use an americanism.... the media sucks.

No doubt about it the media coverage of the Premiership is almost total.
The Premiership relegation battle gets more attention than the Championship promotion battle by far.
