Kalas deal pretty much dead, both clubs can't agree on a fee. Expected not to go through, unless something changes. Jokanovic had put a timeline on the situation, before we started to pursue other targets, with that timeline being this Friday.

If Kalas is not sold in this or the next transfer window he will be out of contract and can walk for free - so if Chelsea do not see him as a replacement for John Terry they are under pressure to sell - so in this instance Kalas has them by the b*lls and if he squeezes he can go where he wants to go no matter who offers what for him

So in this instance softly softly catchy monkey - I would be sure SJ knows this and is in no rush for the club to spend more money on Kalas than they absolutely need to

I believe that Lucas Piazon may well be in the same situation

FULHAM, HULL, QPR, AND SUNDERLAND TO BATTLE FOR LIGUE 1 MIDFIELD SENSATION

The Championship quartet of Fulham, Hull City, Queens Park Rangers, and Sunderland are expressing an interest in Paris Saint-German starlet Christopher Nkunku, according to Get West London.

The 19-year-old midfielder came up through the youth ranks at the French giants before making his first team debut back in 2015 in a Champions League group stage clash against Shakhtar Donetsk.

And the France youth international has since gone on to add a further 21 appearances for the side, including 16 in all competitions last term as Unai Emery's side came up short in their quest to win a fifth successive Ligue 1 title, finishing eight points behind champions Monaco.

And with Nkunku unlikely to command a regular starting berth at PSG next term, he has reportedly been attracting interest from a whole host of clubs around the continent, not least the Championship quartet of Fulham, Hull, QPR, and Sunderland.

Leonid Slutsky's Hull and Simon Grayson's Sunderland will be looking for an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation last term, and as such will want talent like Nkunku in their ranks to aid in that quest.

Fulham reached the top six last season but fell to Reading in the semi-finals, and will hope to bolster their attacking options ahead of another promotion push, while Ian Holloway's QPR finished just two points clear of the bottom three, and thus need reinforcements to climb the division next time round.

However, with Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne reportedly having made a loan move for the 19-year-old, it very much remains to be seen whether any of the aforementioned Championship quartet can get a deal done for the Frenchman this summer.

Fulham, Hull, QPR, and Sunderland fans... what do you make of the news? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

Good young player. Scored a few screamers as well. Definitely a player that would work in that Aluko, Ayite, Kebano kind of mold. Interchangeable attacking mid/wing type. Would suite us I think and a solid player already for such a young age. Fingers crossed!

Not wanting to speak highly of Chelsea, I doubt a reserve youth player can ever have them by the balls.
He's got his own career to think about. They can let him rot in the reserves if he tries that carry on, and his reputation and ability to attract a decent contract in a year will be in tatters surely.

He was loaned to us last year. If he was ever viewed as any kind of replacement for Terry, the only solution would have been a premier league loan last season after his Boro loan.

And I doubt they are under pressure to sell, he's 24 and 1 yr left while they can sell other academy players Ake, Traore and Atsu for 35m. One lost for free is a drop in the ocean

Jonny Walters going from Stoke to Burnley.
Darren Fletcher. WBA to Stoke.

Some boring transfers going on up in that league.

Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier but a couple of the other forums saying Watford are keen on Fredericks.
Hope this isn't true as would be disappointed if he goes.

Looks like we may be outsiders for his signiture as a few Prem clubs after him
Nkunku that is not Fred

My point in respect of John Terry was that he was never going to play for them and was therefore not needed

Chelsea have a history of getting the last penny for their unwanted youth team players and it is part of their business model to bring them in and sell them on if their face does not fit.

So although they could afford it, it would go against the grain to let him go for free. In which case he can choose exactly where he wants to go and there is nothing they can do about it. I also doubt that a years gardening leave is going to damage his prospects.
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

The dilemma is that if we play the waiting game and get Kalas on 31 August he will wish the pre-season with the squad and we will have already played 5 league games, 11% of the season.  He would then probably disappear on international duty and we would not see him much before 9 September.  We all know how badly we did last September following the last minute additions and first international break.  I has (forlornly? ) hoping we would get our business done early to avoid a repeat.

Got to keep positive.  Thats what I keep telling myself.  Only one week into the transfer window and still 4 weeks to Norwich. Cairney, Sess signed contracts, new CB and DM + money received for Burgess, Stearman and Jozabed.  Ok.  Malone going was disappointing but not earth shattering IMO.  On the whole a positive week.

Perhaps, when looking at our recent history, we should be less complacent about claiming to be a 'top club in London' and start to show we mean business in the transfer market by at least inspiring players and their agents we have learned many lessons about panic buying at inflated prices and now know quality when we see it and what it is worth.   Our transfer team need to not only be statistically clever they need to know the way human beings operate too, which is a totally different kind of logic that computers simply cannot and will not replicate.  Time to change the way we negotiate or the people who do the negotiating perhaps.

Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

It's early days yet but I believe that clubs only want the best for players who have served them an will le him go if a fair offer comes in. That offer is only likely to come from  a desperate premier league club if they have exhausted other avenues.  Championship clubs only have a certain amount to spend. That may not be what Chelsea want but it may well be all they get

I'm sorry but the ethics of Chelsea football club are messed up. They're basically imprisoning Kalas and Piazon because they know they can always price clubs out, even if the players themselves are desperate to leave and actually revive their careers. I don't get why they need to be so stingy, they have a billionaire owner who has a habit of throwing money at whatever he pleases so surely a couple of million isn't a lot to be losing sleep over, especially since by keeping him they'll probably be losing more in wages anyway. I know we hate them as fans but we do have a relationship as clubs, and although there's Roman's pal Slutskiy up in Hull Kalas doesn't seem to be going there either.

I think people are being most unfair to poor old Chelsea. A glance at their current squad list shows that they only have 8 centre-backs available, all full internationals. I mean it's a risky position; you can't take too many chances, can you?
In fact, perhaps that's Conte's master-plan. He wants to out-catenaccio the great Italian defensive line-ups of the past and put out a team consisting of a goalkeeper and 10 centre-backs - he's got another 7 in the u23s, some of them pretty good, so he won't be short of numbers.

Ruben Neves now signed for Wolves.

If there is anything to FFP, they should get an embargo next window now. Don't think they'll sell enough to balance it before the end of the window.

Unless they go up, in which case all gets forgiven.

Not worried about this.

The lad's value is inflated by his youth, which is useless to Wolves because they want an immediate impact, and he'll be be far too ambitious to stay with them for more than a year or two. And how will a young Portuguese lad adapt to the Championship? Could well be another Jozabed.

As to FFP, it's one transfer, for less than we spent last summer, and not much more than the amount a club is permitted to lose each season. No idea what their wage bill is (could be very low) or the income (could be very high) so you can't make judgements now, but I agree on the face of it you'd expect this to catch up with them.

I can see it all ending in tears... reckon they'll finish about 12th, eventually get an embargo, the owners lose interest... etc etc

Not overly worried either, they signed for £30m last year and a fat load of good that did them. Their new manager is also very much an unknown for the English game. Vilas Boas has completely disappeared, and he was much better at Porto than Santo.

The interesting point now is if the FL will actually stomp down on the clubs that flout FFP openly.

Still awaiting ffp decision on the hahas so no wonder lots are taking no notice
Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.
