Perfect example of what I said at the end of last season, in that I very rarely bother reading this thread which year after year after year contains posts from people who think the club lacks ambition and is about to experience a downturn because we haven't signed eight new players by the first week of July, ill-informed comments about players none of us have seen and supposedly 'humorous' remarks from people who think they are lightening the atmosphere.  Cheers and see you all when we have completed our transfer dealings because then we can comment on what has actually happened rather than speculate endlessly on what probably won't.

But this is a Message Board. People give their opinions. People speculate endlessly. That is what an MB is for. Based on the past few years when we have needed a forward a defender and a good keeper. People are naturally anxious because we haven't managed to find the right players for those positions. FOF would not exist if it wasn't for people speculating. Otherwise we would all just look at the offal.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Apparently Rolan has travelled from france back to london. The source is sport witness so I have no idea how accurate it is...

"Diego Rolan , who was sent to Newcastle last night by  Uruguayan media , could finally sign in Fulham according to @Girondinfos, who said today that a "global offer" from Fulham should reach the Girondins regarding transfers from the Bordeaux striker and Maxime Poundjé .

According to @Girondinfos, this global offer could oscillate between 8 and 9M € for both players therefore. This morning, the Team announced an amount slightly over € 7m for Diego Rolan alone while confirming an offer from the same club for Maxime Poundjé .

Two sources confirm that the transfer allowance of Diego Rolan should be wellbelow the € 10M previously advanced."

Watching the ups and downs since 1958, wouldn't have it any other way, what a roller coaster of a club.

Stop pussyfooting around Fulham and tell him to
P*** off...Move on.

Agree Mince. Sounds like the Greek all over again.

Look elsewhere imo.
Siblings, let us not be down on it.
One total catastrophe like this...is just the beginning !

Poundje is a left back. There's a saying about falling into a barrel full of tits and coming out sucking your thumb. If we were to go into negotiations to buy Rolan and come out with both Rolan and a Malone replacement I don't know how to describe that except to say it would be the opposite of that saying, a fantastic outcome.

Yes, agreed, and especially if it's both for less than the overall €10m quoted just for Rolan.

The downside to that,is they could both turn out to be crap,so it would be 10m wasted.

Aren't we interested in any players from here anymore,we're constantly being rumoured to be after so and so from god knows where, the latest this full back who cmg points out was injured most of last season.

About £7-8m (€8-9m) for the pair of them looks like great business by us. Always though the €10m for Rolán came from nowhere as our first bid was rumoured to be closer to €5m.

I'm pretty confident that they, or at least Rolán, will sign for us soon. I just can't see him being a genuine target for Newcastle. They must surely have set their sights higher than Rolán considering the strikers they already have?

They are in the Premiership mindset that these teams have the money to buy whoever they feel like buying whether or not they really need them.

Mike Ashley is in talks with a Chinese consortium so signings may be delayed whilst he decides whether to sell the club.

Which is a downside to any signing ever, so not really that relevant here for me.

He is a genuine target for Newcastle, Rolan was linked with Everton and another prem club last summer for 15 million, so is highly regarded. Newcastle have permission to speak to him but as yet have not done so

Everton were probably interested in him as a backup to Lukaku though, as their only other options were Kone, Niasse and Valencia, none of which were favoured by Koeman. They started playing Kevin Mirallas as a striker. They had a similar problem to us when we only had Martin as a striker.

Just seems like a bloat signing for Newcastle when they already have Perez and Gayle who fill similar roles.

I guess my point is that I'd expect Newcastle to go for a marquee signing rather than depth.

Don't know if it's been mentioned and it is unlikely but...

Rolan may have suggested that we also sign his Bordeaux team mate (who he may be good friends with) and now there is a chance we may, Fulham is a lot more attractive to him.
I was there, standing in the Putney end
