I actually think our style suits interchangeable forward types that are comfortable both through the middle and on the wing. Still think we need a physical lad who we can go to to hold the ball up/lump it long in the dying moments if need be, but the quick, one-two touch players with a bit of flair you can never have enough of. Only downside to these types, is the final strike can go missing at times (Ayite/Aluke) but at the same time, present danger every time they're on the ball.

Welcomed addition.

Strengthen LB, CB and a proper #9 and we're well on our way.

I feel kmac is our best cb other than kalas. He is too important playing dcm to play there but if we are chasing a game moving him back and the new Brighton fella into midfield would be a very plausible option. I also think a back three of kalas, ream and odoi would allow fredericks and sess to play further forward. We got more corners than any other team last season, and I also believe we had the poorest conversion rate from corners. If we can improve those stats we will only be more successful

I've just come in... has he signed, or is the excitement speculation?

Speculation, medical has been completed apparently.

Do we think this is a Kline  acquisition?

Why would you think that - I'm not aware of Kline being the coach for any of our teams - he is just part of the process in the same way as the medical department is. It would be interesting to know how many they have scratched off over the years.

If we are spending big bucks on him and were prepared to last January it was because SJ wants him for the first team squad and presumably knows how he would like to use him.

The stand out prerequisite for SJ players - is speed - the walking Berbatov would have driven him mad
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

I doubt the information would ever be released but I'd LOVE to see a list of our transfers since Kline came onboard and see which were instigated by Kline, which were instigated by purely scouting and maybe a list of target the manager had and wanted that were turned down by the stats department and the records of those players since.

. . . you left out a list of those suggested by Kline and declined by the Manager and a list of those suggested by scouts and declined by the Manager and a list of all three who did not get passed by the medical pixies

At the end of the day SJ has the final decision - because even if they override his veto - he can just not pick them - so there would be no point to overriding his veto

Does he take penalties?

Apparently took two penalties last season and scored both!

https://www.transfermarkt.com/aboubakar-kamara/elfmetertore/spieler/290951

Scored both you say ? Hmmm won't suit our style.

No - other teams know they can foul in the penalty area because we are not going to score - it would be an unfair advantage if we did and we could face a disrepute charge by the FA

All coming together nicely this week. Kamara look a like he would be a good signing. I also agree with others on here that Gestede would be a great signing from Boro. Struggled since leaving Blackburn but on his day what a handful he is. Great Plan B to have if we could bring him in

Mince n Tatties

No way we want Plan B near the Cottage.
He was terrible as George Carter in the Sweeney, looked about 12.

JackHFFC1990

One I haven't seen us linked with this year who I think would be a decent signing is Matej Vydra?

Ordar

What happened with that Poundje bloke? That fall through with the Rolan deal? I feel like we're still missing a LB. For me Sess is a winger, not a full back

he has 8 goals in his last 60 championship games, seems to have gone of the boil a little

The reported fee isn't peanuts but it certainly isn't "big bucks" either. For a striker it's closer to peanuts. So at best I think we can say it's ambiguous whether he's intended to go in the first XI or be more of a (probably stats-based) punt like Djalo. As to your last sentence The fee is also in the same ballpark as the Martin loan fee and he certainly wasn't fast.
Martin loan fee circa 2 million quid, this deal is crica 4.25 million euros in total or just under 4 million pounds.

He was recommneded by scouts at first, staff watched him and then stats were done, this was done in December 16 into Jan 17 which led to our bid back then.

I could just as easily say that if SJ doesn't allow some of Kline's recommendations then he doesn't get any new players and is left with a poor 15-man squad, so he has no choice but to accept them. I don't wish to repeat an argument we've already had, but in the least you have to admit the situation is ambiguous and you have no real idea how it works without being inside it.
no one has any real idea on how it works so anything about the specifics is ambiguos.

He has gone off the boil for sure but not many starts at Derby. Was very good playing for Joka am sure he could be again

Sorry but are you suggesting "circa" £2m (actually I heard £3m) and "circa" €4m (Someone up the thread said €3-5m) are not in the same ballpark? As to the exact amounts and dates with all due respect I will treat them as rumours - probably about right but quite possibly not
Going on the fese i was told for martin which was 2 millin pounds, so I dont consider that and 3.8 milloin pounds in the same ball park no. every one has the own views and thats what this forum and especially this thread is about. Ofr me to be in the same ball park it has to be within say 10%

I do know the deal is for up to 4.25 million euros though
