With sig now gone along with Parker, I think that frees up somewhere around £80k a week in wages based on what they both earned last season...
Rumour was Parkers one year deal  was for around 35k last season, Sigs was on a lot then
Yeah, I can't see it being that much between the two of them!

Sigurdsson was our highest earner so hopefully Rubin are covering his wages, good to get them off the books.
Really? If that's the case, it makes it more painful he didn't do well for us!

With Sig leaving when I look at the squad there are only one player I can realistically see us losing - Kavanagh, it's very quiet regarding him though. I wonder if we'll see his contract 'mutually terminated' before the summer is out.

What it does mean though is that for certain CB is more important then LB cover wise now

Make it closer to £75k then as Sig was on £40k according to an interview that he did with a Scandinavian newspaper last summer.

If we can just get rid of Aluko and McDonald, I might make it into the team if we have any injuries!!!!  Better buy the new strip.

Any news on a CB?

We are desperately short of quality in that position, we have Kalas as our best option, then Madl and Ream both are comfortable at this level but realistically not players to chase promotion with, then Sigurdsson who seems out of his depth in all honesty. The only other option is Djalo, and I'm not sure he's even talented enough to be considered an option for the reserves, what a pointless signing he was.

This leaves us with Kalas, Ream and Madl as our only good CBs, and only really Kalas is good enough for a promotion chase, possibly being harsh on Ream there but last year was his best ever season, need to see if he can replicate it again.

We need a top quality CB, and we need them quickly.

"The only other option is Djalo, and I'm not sure he's even talented enough to be considered an option for the reserves, what a pointless signing he was. "

he hasn't even played a competitive game for us and you have already ruled him out.. oh dear.

+1

Have either of you seen him play? He is honestly shocking, shares a turning circle with the titanic.

A friend of mine from school moved out to Spain with his family and lives a short walk from his last teams stadium, obviously when I heard of our interest I asked about him as he goes to a lot of the games, my friend laughed and said we are welcome to him. Described him as a poor footballer with good height. This is while playing for a lower league spanish side by the way, so not a good league.

Granted my friend is not exactly an experienced scout, but he loves football and has seen enough to be able to rate a players ability from 20 or so games. Djalo is a poor player. I severely doubt he will feature in a competitive game for us, if he does, we will lose.

Its not his fault we signed him, so can't really blame him for his short comings, but it doesn't change the fact he is far out of his depth, probably even for our reserves.

Basically, we need another CB, ideally a starter but at the very least to provide cover, currently we only have Madl who could comfortably step in.

Should Djalo magically learn to play football over night I will happily eat my words, lets hope it happens.

I understand those saying that we should not judge a player so soon but on his performances in friendlies I do fear Chutney may be proved correct.
if I was coming into the squad and playing in pre-season friendlies with the first team, I would put in a lot more effort than Djalo appeared to.

His positioning, marking and challenging (especially in the Chelsea game) were so lacklustre that I was shocked.

I would be totally amazed if he does a job for us this season (even from the bench), but if he proves me wrong I will be forever sold on Moneyball!

I know a Danish news site revealed that Sig was going to earn ~£40k a week here but there were no quotes from the man himself.

Ayite, Kebano, Odoi, Cairney, Madl, JOhansen they all part sold me on the moneyball stats system, after all everyone says we only sign players by stats and these lads came in since we have used the system. TK said in an interview on Cottage Talk that TC was a stats signing.

So I am half sold to a degree.

Cairney was Blackburn's best player by a distance and already had a big reputation from his time at hull, nobody needed stats to see how good he is, surely they can't claim that one? Agree about the others though, but likewise Siggurdsson, Pestos, Cyriac, jozabed and Djalo are all arguments to the contrary, fortunately two were only loans.

One couldn't be blamed for assuming there was another CB coming in. Djalo was supposedly signed as an investment for the U23's. I think it'd be almost suicidal asking him to back up Ream, should he get injured. A Titanic risk to take.
