Aden Flint's basically the Centre-Back version of David Button with the ball at his feet, or have people forgotten Bristol City away two seasons ago where he literally passed it straight to Cairney for our 3rd (?) goal. He's a decent Centre-Back, but he wouldn't fit in with us at all.

Can someone please explain to me the love in with Aden Flint? He's just Stearman mk2, he played every single league game last season for a team that conceded 66 times in 46 games. Someone amusingly said earlier that our defence is relegation standard as it is, so why do we want to add a CB from a team that almost certainly would've got relegated last season if Abraham didn't save them, AND conceded 9 more goals that our already "crap" defence???

Because he's British.

Which frankly matters not one jot.

We are more likely to get a CB from the continent from the French or Belguim league. Julian Jeanvier or the like.
Agreed, Jeanvier I like the look of. People love Flint because: 1) He's English 2) He's tall 3) he scores from set pieces, which we can't deliver properly 4) he's slow

We wouldn't let Sig go unless we had a replacement. Would we?

For some people it does - apparently, you have a slight advantage when playing in the Championship and your mother tongue is English. Perhaps it makes you defend corners better or something like that.

Hmmm....not too sure on the exchange rate, but at a guess....roughly £51,200

I think it's pretty obvious that Joka wants centrebacks (and goalkeepers) who are comfortable with the ball at their feet. Something Sig wasn't. Which is why Kalas and Ream are the preferred partnership. That's a quality that someone like Flint isn't renown for, so I doubt he's remotely on the radar. It's the same issue that Pep has been having at City. It's hard to get those type of players, especially at our level

for me any play that is any good can learn to pass the ball and use it wisely. pass it in and short to the midfield or full backs etc. if they cant then they should not be professionals. this is what I have been teaching my kids since the age of 7 they are now under 15's

Agree with comment above that CB is now more of a priority than LB. At least partly because if we sign a left-sided CB that kills two birds with one stone because it frees Ream up to play LB, which in addition to Odoi and Sessegnon is plenty of cover for that area.

I think a full-back (either RB or LB, depending where we are planning to use Odoi) should be a priority. We currently have 3 players for 2 positions (not sure Ream can be an effective LB the way we play), so unless someone from the academy is about to step up we need another full-back.

RB: Freds, Odoi, Madl, Cisse - LB: Sess, Odoi, Ream

While agree they are not all known for those positions but three of those I have listed as RB have played there adequately at least for us and Cisse started as a right back. Left Back Odoi was signed as a left back, Sess is a left back and Ream can cover although not ideal. SO for me a CB is a high priority right now

Issue I have in general is full backs struggle to defend these days its all about attacking but that's just a general gripoe.

anyone else heard any rumours about Waris ? Something on twitter saying he liked a tweet about him joining us....

Waris was linked before Kamara, as far as I knew it was now not going on because of Kamara, but I will double check

Yes, I can just see it, forward to defender, do speak English or what?

I actually think it a positive that Ream is a different type of full back. maybe now we have a good striker who can run in behind and score goals, for some games (or parts of games) our wingers can actually be wingers instead of pretending to be strikers, and our full backs can actually be full backs instead of pretending to be wingers. then maybe we'll concede less.
I agree Ream is more defensive minded defender.

We have agreed a bit lately things must be going well lol
