I don't see anything in the article suggesting Mark's fuming. It's nothing more than journo licence. He is quoted as not wanting to say anything rather than it be taken the wrong way - the rest is convenient spin. Sure, he'll be disappointed. But the first priority of FFC is FFC - the club he was happy to sign for on a massive sign-on fee and not inconsiderable contracted weekly readies.....
The fortunes of this club do not rest on the whims of old road map features over at the Emirates, nor any one player here.
Hughes was perfectly upfront on this: We get a prem quality keeper in and you can leave. It didn't pan out. End of story.
Personally, I believe MS is too much of a pro to give other than his all between our sticks.
Should he behave differently, we've always got zoobyzoobydeeebee... :dft003:

"stupid managerial decision"

I can't agree with that comment. The stupid managerial decision would have been to let Mark go with no adequate replacement found, especially with the injury to David Stockdale.

I also think it is ridiculous for anyone to be supposing that, although no doubt disappointed, Mark will do anything except his very best for us while he remains. To suppose otherwise is to suggest this experienced professional has the mentality of the five year old rather than the maturity his years, status in his profession and attitude to his job while at Fulham strongly indicate.

Agree 100%.  I couldn't have put it any better, Tom.

I am sick of Schwarzer and his tired act. I really wish we would have gotten rid of him during the transfer window and moved on. It's not good to have players playing for you who don't want to be there. I do like that jacket he is wearing in the picture though.

I also like the way Hughsie & MAF have shown real strength on this issue.  We're pretty used to big words, then caving in (as with EVS, Saha etc, etc), but the boys have drawn a line in the sand with this one.   :clap_hands:

It'll gain Hughsie so much respect with the boys - and the likes of Arsenal now know we won't be mugged off.

As to Schwartzer, I agree with the people who say let him rot on the bench if he sulks.  If he wants to battle for his place, great.

Whether he's fuming or not, I'm uneasy with the Schwarzer situation.
A club like Fulham needs fully committed players and a tight-knit team.  Clearly many of our senior players were very loyal to the previous management team.  This divided (or confused) loyalty, along with the high number of first team players on the last legs of their contracts (and perhaps top flight careers), allied to the mercenary nature of professional footballers all combine to present Mark Hughes with a fairly serious challenge as he settles in.
It's a fairly common baptism of fire for an incoming management team in any walk of life.  But this temporary turmoil was likely to happen anyway due to the geriatric nature of Hodgson's squad.
Personally, I would prefer to have taken the cash for Oz-keep and given youth a chance pending the January window.
Stockdale's injury put paid to that.  Isn't he out till mid October with his bad ankle?  But we are very likely to lose Schwartz for much less money in January or at the end of the season.

Why do we believe what the papers say? Why believe direct quotes? There is nothing in the articles that show Swart is annoyed?

You know sometimes we really are stupid and deserve the heroes we have. I don't believe the papers all the time anymore than I believe Swart is skipping merrily to the next training session. He is a great keeper. But he wants to move to a bigger club and is wery wery cross he couldn't.

Lets not believe everything the papers say by all means. But lets not pretend our Heroes are not for the most part money grabbing parasites who want the best for themselves and their family. Most of us would. Swart is a goalkeeper and a good one. But we have every right to be crirical and worried that his mind is not on doing the very best for our club.

Have we learned nothing from Uncle Woy.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

The way I see it, we have a goalkeeper whose ego has been boosted by interest from a 'bigger' club, but is held in such high esteem his current club don't want to lose him. Almunia on the other hand must feel second-rate, unwanted and unloved. I know which keeper I'd rather have in my team..

We can only Judge Schwarzer once he is back in the team. If he starts tanking games then we can legitimately barrack him and call him unprofessional. For the moment he should have the benefit of the doubt.

For all those who would happily lose him and see Stockdale step up you should be careful what you wish for. Schwarzer is one of Fulham's greatest all time keepers and I for one will be sad when he eventually retires.

It is so funny how everyone LOVES Fulham and our SMALL club until they can go to a top four...
However..............THAT JACKET IS SICK WHY DON'T THEY SELL THESE ITEMS????????????????

I couldn't give a rat's bum whether Mark is grumpy or not but I'm with you Jim - I would die for a jacket like that. If he doesn't want it he can give it to me. He knows where I live  :005:

Nothing in the article that lends credence to the fact that he is "fuming".

If anything he is trying to downplay it all rather than play this out through the media.

It must be hard to accept that in the twighlight of his career a big-club-move is not going to happen, but to be fair to him unless I missed something when I was away he hasn't gone on a public strop about it.

Well said ALF, couldn't agree more. Let's give the man a chance to get back and do the job he's paid bloody well to do. From what I know of the big fella he's very unlikely to give anything less than his best and is far too professional to upset the rest of the squad regardless of how peed off he might be feeling.

Hazey

I noticed him and Konch wearing these in the first game and thought they looked pretty saweet!

Hopefully they will bring them ouit for tyhe supporters soon, I need a new zip up.  even the dody logo doesnt look too bad on this model.

At clubs with bigger memberships, their supporters only touch their colours, but at FFC we have spirit. Fulham people can touch that spirit - they are the real Cottagers, they are the club

Who says that Mark is unhappy? Has he said it? If he is, well that is understandable. However, what everyone forgets, Mark is a professional and I am sure he will react in a professional manner and give his all for FFC, after all it is in his interest to. Everything else is speculation.
