NFR...reason to celebrate.

Last year, I quit playing football in the over 60 league (11 a side, proper football). I am 69 and my body hurt too much)
Today, after just a few weeks practice) I shelled out $450 tennis club membership plus $200 for a racquet (my old ones used to cost me about 15 quid). I have been practicing with a friend to try to measure the embarrassment level before I spend any cash. Session booked for tomorrow with the club coach to assess where I belong. At the bottom no doubt.

I used to play regularly, almost 40 years ago. Some of you will know the place, the Polytechnic club by Chiswick bridge. Large sports ground, including football, rugby cricket, tennis. Sadly, I drove past it a few years ago and the grass courts were gone.

Any of you folks on here ever played there in any of the sports available.?

Yes I have played football there in the 60s for the Civil Service. The Air Ministry to be precise,  Good facilities in those days.

Never played but refereed there on a couple of occasions late 60's.
