Who was that?

Yesterday, at a petrol station in Melle, SW France, there was a guy in a white Mondeo ahead of me.  It had French plates. Seemed a friendly bloke  and when he'd finished he pulled a few feet forward to allow me onto the pump. As I was filling up, I suddenly heard 'London Calling' blaring out from somewhere.  It wasn't my wife in my car so I looked around and it was coming from the guy who'd pulled forward.  I called out "Fulham?" and he laughed and drove off.  Surely he must have been a Brit who saw my FFC number plate.  Wonder who he was?  Are you on this forum mate?
