Fulham boss admits being outclassed by Wolves at Molineux

The Cottagers boss took little positives from the Molineux defeat

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic admitted that his side were very much second best against Wolves on Friday night.

First half goals from Romain Saiss and Leo Bonatini made it another miserable night for Fulham as Nuno Santo's side moved further clear at the top of the Championship.

Fulham failed to trouble Wolves' defence and Jokanovic conceded it was a similar story for his out-of-form side.

"Today we didn't deserve any points, and we can't repeat this," he explained.

"Today there aren't so many positives for us.

"This isn't a new situation, we made similar mistakes, they scored two easy goals. We played around but we didn't create serious chances and we didn't show enough quality.

"It's a similar story. We are not in our best moment, not too many things are working for us. Some people still haven't adapted themselves for this competition, and we didn't show enough quality to be competitive.

"I tried to find some kind of solution during the day to day because I believe I'm going to find a better option, but I didn't find anything better this time for my team."

The loss brings the curtain down on the latest batch of fixtures, which has not been a profitable period for Fulham.

"One month is behind us without being at an acceptably good level," Jokanović admitted. "We must be serious and refresh our mind, refresh our bodies, and try to push all the team in the same direction.

"We are one team, we must fight all together, we must show our maximum level of quality and be ready to fight. If not, we are in trouble."

Fulham youngsters beat Tottenham, Chelsea easily see off Brighton

Chelsea and Fulham's youngsters both enjoyed wins in the Under-18 Premier League Cup on Saturday.

Chelsea eased to a 3-0 win at Brighton, while Fulham won 2-1 at Tottenham to go top of their group.

Sonny Hilton gave Fulham an early lead with a clever chip following Reece York's long ball forward.

Hilton, York and Timmy Abraham – brother of Chelsea's Tammy – went close to doubling the visitors' lead before Rayan Clarke netted a second-half equaliser for Spurs.

Nicolas Santos Klase restored Fulham's lead with a penalty after Showkat Tahir had been fouled in the area.

Meanwhile, Daishawn Redan, Marc Guehi and Charlie Brown (pictured) scored in a resounding Chelsea victory.

Denis Odoi: Fulham need to stop trying to walk the ball into the net like Barcelona and start shooting

Fulham have lacked any threat in front of goal in the past month and Odoi believes it's about time they stop caring how a goal goes in, so long as it does

Denis Odoi believes Fulham need to stop trying to pass the ball into the net like Barcelona and start shooting from further out after the 2-0 defeat to Wolves .

The Cottagers have lacked an attacking threat so far this season and that was evident again in Friday night's defeat, very rarely threatening the Wolves goal and only registering a couple of tame shots on target.

Fulham seem to be trying to work the ball into the six yard box in order to have a strike at goal, but Odoi, who was played at centre back in the defeat and did well, reckons it's time they started shooting from further out without caring how the ball goes in - so long as it does.

He said: "I think it's a concern, also I don't know what we want to do, we're going to play like Barcelona and kick the ball in the goal from one metre out?

"We need to shoot from outside the 18, we shouldn't care if it takes one or two deflections, a goal is a goal and sometimes we just keep waiting for the perfect opportunity to shoot at goal, but they aren't going to come that often so you just need to have a go and I don't think we do that enough.

"In general, the play last year we were in a higher level than this season, we were much more dangerous attacking wise and we need to think how come and it's for all the club, technical staff, players, everybody to think about it and get that problem fixed."

Conceding goals has also been a problem - Fulham haven't kept a clean sheet since the 2-0 win over Ipswich Town in August, and he says they need to cut out leaking goals if they want to have a chance at winning games.

He added: "We've been conceding too many goals and we haven't caused any real danger, if you look at the game, in the first half they had no real chances except for the set pieces.

"Championship set pieces are an important part of the league and we need to be sharper on set pieces.

"In the play, they weren't really better than us in the first half but then you're 2-0 down and it's so hard.

"If you look at other games, Preston we were 2-0 down and we need to work twice as hard to get back and we've been lucky against Preston and Bolton to get the draw but we can't always be that lucky and it showed against Bristol and against Wolves."

Tim Ream Produces A Dive Worthy Of Olympic Gold Against Wolves

Nuno Espírito Santo's unstoppable Wolves side went four points clear at the top of the Championship ladder last night after a comfortable win against Fulham.

Goals from Romain Saiss and Leo Bonatini secured a fourth straight home victory, but one incident in particular brought plenty of discussion from fans.

Fulham and USA international Tim Ream has been criticised for his ridiculous diving skills after a 'collision' with Wolves midfielder Diogo Jota.

After the game, one Twitter user compared the incident to Bristol City's Bailey Wright, who received a two match suspension after his denial for an FA charge of 'successful deception of a match official' was rejected.

Wright's act of simulation happened in Bristol's game against Fulham, and now people have suggested that Tim Ream's actions deserve a similar ban.

"I'm assuming a two match ban will be forthcoming for this blatant "simulation?"

After the game, Fulham head coach Slavisa Jokanovic told BBC Sport:

"We did not show enough quality. We need to adapt better to the competition. I have tried to find some solution with better options.

"The past four games we have only one point. Not good news. For a month now, we have not been at the right level.

"We must fight all together and show more quality. If not, then we are in trouble."

Thoughts on Ream's reaction to Jota's 'challenge'?

7 Goals, 5 Assists: Man United Must Fight Tooth-And-Nail To Land This £50m Fulham Wonder Kid

Why Man United Must Fight Tooth-And-Nail To Land Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon

Manchester United were linked with signing Fulham's Ryan Sessegnon in the summer but a move did not materialise. Their interest remains unwavered, however, but should United look to sign the talented wonder kid in a January deal?

The Red Devils are still on the hunt for a quality left-back and have been long-term admirers of the 17-year-old Sessegnon, who can play at left-back, left midfield and left wing. Although Fulham may not be too keen to let go of Sessegnon, who made 25 appearances in the Championship last season, United could still look to tempt the youngster.

The £50m rated Sessegnon, who grew up in Roehampton in south-west London, has been an ever-present for Fulham in the Championship this season and has been capped by England at under-16, U17 and U19 level. He broke into the first-team setup last season at Fulham and impressed everyone with his performance on the left-hand side of the defence. In fact, he notched up 7 goals and 5 assists in 31 appearances, which were enough for him to be heralded as the latest sensation.

After finishing 6th last season, Fulham have made a disappointing start to their league season, drawing 7 and losing 5 of their first 16 games, making United seem like an interesting prospect for Sessegnon.

The player would not only be a smart buy in terms of quality, but would also represent a younger option, even if he may be inexperienced. Sessegnon is keen to clock regular minutes on the field and that shouldn't be a problem at Old Trafford, considering the club's current situation at the left-back position.

Luke Shaw's problems refuse to fade away and Jose Mourinho has been using makeshift options so far. Daley Blind has slotted in well on certain occasions but the player often gets caught by pace, something that does lead to trouble. After that, the Portuguese manager deployed Ashley Young as a left-back and the player has been doing really well in that role. In fact, his stellar displays have seen him become a regular of sorts in that position. However, the need for a natural left-back remains ever-present at United.

The fact that Luke Shaw has returned from injury but is yet to feature in a league match does seem to hint that perhaps Mourinho has something else in mind for Shaw. A sale appears to be the only solution that will benefit both, the club and the player. As of now, Shaw is doing nothing to add value to the club while United are continuing to pay for his services. Thus, a January exit for Shaw seems to be the most obvious thing on the manager's mind.

Once that happens, Sessegnon can come in and make the left-back position his own, and Mourinho will always have Young to depend on otherwise.

Moneyballs-up! Stats madness at Fulham after player signings banned by US data guru and friend of the owner's son... who accused the club of racism after he was finally sacked

US data guru Craig Kline accused Fulham of racism after he was sacked
Kline had huge influence and blocked signings of Aaron Mooy and Glenn Murray
He is friends with owner Shahid Khan's son Tony, director of football operations
Fulham - who reached the play-offs last season - are 17th in the Championship

An American statistics obsessive who persuaded Fulham's owner to let him dictate transfer policy accused the club of racism and physical threats in an extraordinary Twitter attack after he was sacked last week, the Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Craig Kline had come to wield huge influence through his close friendship with owner Shahid Khan's son Tony, who is director of football operations.

He blocked low budget deals to sign players such as Aaron Mooy, who has become a big Premier League success at Huddersfield Town, and Glenn Murray, shortlisted for the top flight's player of the month award, because they did not score highly enough on his analytics charts.

He made bizarre claims of racism when players were not bought on the basis of his Moneyball-type model and he went public last week in a series of tweets, seen by the Mail on Sunday from an account now deleted.

Kline, who befriended Tony Khan at university and was appointed assistant director of football operations by him, said he had 'grievances' which 'focused on racism' and alleged there had been 'threats of violence' against him.

Fulham have been in a state of civil war over Kline's insistence that no player who fell below a specific numerical rating on his data model - which he has refused to divulge details of internally - could be signed. He wielded immense control, with Shahid Khan deferring to his son when executives pleaded with him to intervene.
