Now I know some of you don't care about the competition, but the fact is that at the start of the season, there were 4 ways to get to Wembley, it isn't even Xmas yet and we are down to two
@MattRhys63 - be warned, there will be a lot of nonsense

If I understand the rules correctly we have young players withe the First Team squad, plus others out on loan who would have been eligible to play in that competition.
Our U23 team is not a reflection  on the overall depth of the strength of our younger players.

Havent we a game to play still?

Yep, but Charlton are 4 points ahead of us, so we can't get through even if we win 8-0

I can see three remaining ways to Wembley:-

1. Play Off final
2. FA Cup semi final
3. Play Spurs away in FA Cup

With our current form the best possibility seems to be 3.

I class the FA Cup (Spurs away or semi final) as one route.

I love the presumption we'd lose the semi final lol.

Present form suggests that we would lose to the likes of Burton or Bolton in a semi final so a Wembley final seems a bit of a wild dream.

Of course beat Spurs away  in the FA Cup 6th round, go on to reach the final and lose, reach the Play Off final and lose, would mean making four Wembley appearances without winning a dam thing.

Personally, I'd rather the first time I see my team at Wembley(I was deemed to young in 1975  :016:) to not be in the mickey mouse checkatrade trophy, which even the league 1 and 2 fans can't see the point of.

Therefore, I'm quite happy to be out of it.

Shame for the u-21 lads (it's not an u-23 team in this competition as some assume), but then they shouldn't have shipped 2 goals in the last minute when 2-1 up at Charlton....

I wouldn't want my first visit to Wembley with Fulham being the checkatrade trophy!!
