Is this really what we want?

Spent a grey afternoon listening to J & J and it all sounded pretty uninspired - not the commentary, the game.

Really, is this the best we can do?

I really think our Coach hasn't an atom of motivation or inspiration in him. Coach them to death with your sideways movement but it will never get you in a sniff of the pay offs.Β  You have to question what the hell they do all week when the commentatorsΒ  use phrases like - "off the pace - clearly not fit, carrying an injury."

I despair.

Sorry.

Well, probably Cairney apart, I didn't see the game that you heard.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

+1Β  It is very difficult to break down a massed defence, and I think we all agree that our attacking options are not of the highest order. I thought Ayite did well and provided the moment of quality of the game to score; AK47 should have scored - he put in a shift and you cannot fault his effort - but his technique let him down once or twice. Kebano looked a threat when he came on and we just couldn't get on the end of his ball in.

Uninspired isn't the word. Maybe not quite good enough to put a side like Barnsley to the sword, but we were worthy winners today.

It was quite a good game, we looked better than we had for a while but it is still questionable whether Jocanovic is employing the right tactics for this division.
Barnsley seemed capable of always filling their penalty area with players capable of snuffing out our attempts on goal. We never offered any threat in the air.

This site should be renamed " Friends of Statler and Waldorf " the way some people go on .

MikeW, suggest you watch the 90 minutes. We dominated but due to poor finishing and dogged defending we only scraped home.

Have to agree with the above comments, good centre forward would have had 4 or 5 today.

Cairney was very poor today and Johansen below par - the other 12 who were on the pitch were strong, especially Ayite, Sess, Fredericks & Ream.Β

Bets was lucky not to be sent off for handling outside the area (if that was an opposition GK the board would be in meltdown) although the rest of his game was strong.

Three wins out of three at home.Β

Well done guys!!

Sorry Mike but this is typical of football in the lower leagues these days and probably always has been. You also sound like somebody who usually watches his football on the TVs. I'm not trying to down you but in this league teams come to defend and home teams attack if they can but it isn't easy. Only the better teams come and try to attack. Sometimes it works

ffcthereligion

Would you have been happier if we lost? You might be right about everything then!

MikeW

But .... a high percentage of contributors on the 'Just got back' thread are expressing similar sentiments to mine.Β  "Just not good enough."

I thought we played well - just something lacking with the final attack - Kamara looked impressive but not quite finished article yet - bit like Hayles

Johansen had an immense game his energy nearly back to last year

Ojo is a class player and will play for England

Ayite scored a great goal

SJ acting petulantly on the side lines doesn't look like a motivator

Fonte a waste of time as usual

Only 6 points behind 6th place having played crap most of the season but 3 tough games next will kill that hope off

Moaning even when we win

I despair

Sorry

I'll have a moan as well😀
Don't think Mike is belittling the win but the performance, Barnsley are poor no wins in what?,plenty of possession again but our final ball sometimes is atrocious... Oh for a striker of quality, but that said the players playing yesterday should be able to do it.

A win is a win.Β  There was plenty of good football to be seen yesterday and, on another day the scoreline could have been more convincing.Β  Good to see Ayite back and scoring a quality goal, and Piazon looking fit and well warming up on the touchline.Β  Better times, and good runs of results are, I feel, just beginning to show signs of happening after a tough first half of the season.Β  Keep the faith you doubters.

You never know. Yes 3 tough games but Bolton beat Cardiff for example.

How was Fonte a waste of time???
didn't put a foot wrong and made about 3 good tackles

I don't think anyone really thought we paid €9m for a forward to track back and make a few tackles

On the other hand Kamara made a huge difference to our forward play - despite missing chances

A win is a win, but again we conceded such an easy goal because Ream couldn't win a header.

Similarly we played a team that conceded the midfield and went to a back 5, but we showed no tactical flexibility and continued to leave an isolated striker on his own - and our substitutions to 'close the game out' involved putting another CM on for them to bypass with long balls.
