PSG join chase for £30m Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon as Tottenham face battle to land left-back

The French giants are desperate to lure the 17-year-old who is rated as one of English football's best young prospects

aris Saint Germain have joined the chase to sign Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon.

The French giants are desperate to lure the 17-year-old who is rated as one of English football's best young prospects.

PSG have been watching Sessegnon this season and are keen to take him to France ahead of a host of English clubs with his price likely to be more than £30m already.

Tottenham tried to sign him last summer but Sessegnon opted to stay at Fulham and sign a new contract to try to get promotion to the Premier League.

His form this season will only heighten Tottenham's determination to get him and they could bid again this month.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also keen to sign Sessegnon while Real Madrid are also keeping tabs.

PSG have got the financial clout to tempt Fulham while the youngster also speaks French.

Sessegnon has established himself at left back but is seen as having the potential to emulate Gareth Bale and play further forward.

Fulham are determined to keep the England prospect for at least this season but will face a battle, with major clubs so keen to get him.

Stoke City transfer news: Potters make play for pacy Championship right-back

Fulham's Ryan Fredericks is targeted despite continued uncertainty hanging over future of Mark Hughes

Stoke City are making a play for Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks as transfer business continues despite uncertainty hanging over the manager.

The Potters are keen on the 25-year-old right-back, whose pace getting up and down the flank has been catching the eye in the Championship.

Fredericks, who came through the ranks at Tottenham, might be available for a cut price £3m because his contract is due to run out in the summer.

The athletic former England youth international has spent the last two-and-a-half years at Craven Cottage following a brief spell with Bristol City.

He has previously played in midfield and could give Mark Hughes an option at wing-back, having largely used Mame Diouf in that role so far this season.

Hughes, fresh from discussing Stoke's transfer agenda for January – and his own future – with Tony Scholes and Peter and John Coates, refused to confirm a bid had been lodged.

"That's a new one to me," he said, but added: "That's quite quick. We haven't got to that point where we're finalising exactly who we're going to move for or whatever. Clearly, we've got names on lists.

"We've got a little bit of an issue maybe in the full-back areas. It's probably fair to say that we're looking to be stronger there."

Tom Edwards, aged 18, has emerged at the top of the pecking order at right-back over the last few weeks as Geoff Cameron has been needed in central midfield and at centre-half while Glen Johnson has not been considered for selection.

Johnson, aged 33, is expected to leave the bet365 Stadium this month, having only two league starts since being handed a one-year contract extension last summer.

West Brom and Leicester have been linked with taking the former England international on a free transfer.

An experienced central midfielder is also a priority after relying solely on Joe Allen and Darren Fletcher over the first few months of the season before using Charlie Adam in the last two games.

Erik Pieters is the only new serious doubt as Hughes prepares his squad for an FA Cup third round tie at Coventry. Josh Tymon is on standby for a recall at left-back while Ryan Shawcross is hoping to be fit in time to face Manchester United and Bruno Martins Indi nurses a groin problem.

Hughes said: "Erik went off with a tight hamstring against Newcastle and he's very unlikely to be involved. We don't think it's the hamstring he damaged but perhaps trying to protect that he's got an issue elsewhere. He's the main concern.

"We're giving a number of people 24 hours more to see if they're available."

Tottenham and Manchester United blow as PSG join Ryan Sessegnon transfer battle

Paris St Germain have become the latest club showing interest in Fulham player Ryan Sessegnon, according to reports.

The teenager has been a sensation since breaking into the Fulham team last season and has quickly become a target for numerous clubs.

Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in the 17-year-old.

PSG can be added to that list with the Daily Mirror reporting that the French club have watched the young Englishman, who can speak French, this season.

Should they follow up that interest with a bid they could out-muscle the competition with their financial clout.

Earlier this week Sessegnon showed his class with two goals in the space of a few minutes as Fulham beat Ipswich 4-1. All the more remarkable was he did so from a left-back position.

Sessegnon's value is now being put at £30million so impressive has he become. Fulham are also in a strong position with the teenager signing a long-term deal with the club just last summer.
