Transfer gossip: Former Liverpool winger reportedly discussing Whites move

Some of the recent transfer speculation involving Fulham...

Fulham are in talks to sign former Liverpool winger Sebastian Leto, the Daily Mail reports.

The 31-year-old Argentine made two appearances in the Champions League for Liverpool during his time with the Merseyside club.

More recently has been playing in the UAE Arabian Gulf League for Emirates Club, but he is a free agent.

Whites linked with Norwich striker
Fulham are eyeing Norwich forward Nelson Oliveira, The Sun claim.

The newspaper say the Whites are monitoring Oliveira's situation at Carrow Road ahead of a possible move for the Portuguese.

Derby County are said to have offered £8m for him and The Sun say there is also interest from Swansea City and Wolves.

Sessegnon speculation
There continues to be speculation over the future of Ryan Sessegnon.

Paris St-Germain are the latest club to be linked with the Fulham youngster.

The Daily Mirror claim the French club are "desperate" to land the 17-year-old and beat Tottenham to a deal to sign him.

Spurs have long been interested in Sessegnon and several other clubs have been linked with him.
The Mail say Sessegnon is likely to eventually join Tottenham despite interest from Manchester United and, apparently, Real Madrid.

The Telegraph, meanwhile, have claimed Southampton are ready to make a bid for Sessegnon and that Saints defender Matt Targett could replace him at Fulham as part of any deal.

The Guardian recently suggested that United are preparing to offer Fulham £25m for the 17-year-old left-back.

And The Sun followed that up by claiming that United boss Jose Mourinho is willing to loan Sessegnon back to Fulham in order to get the deal done.

Sessegnon signed a new contract at Craven Cottage during the summer.

Report: Fulham in talks to sign Sebastian Leto on a free transfer

Fulham are reportedly keen on signing the former Liverpool ace.

The Cottagers are reportedly in talks to sign former Liverpool winger Sebastian Leto, according to the Daily Mail, with the 31-year-old currently available on a free transfer.

The Argentine ace has been plying his trade in the UAE Arabian Gulf League with Emirates club, but his contract has now expired, and his availability on a free makes him an interesting prospect for Fulham.

Leto spent two years with the Reds from 2007-2009, but he failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the Merseyside outfit.

The 31-year-old's main position is out on the left wing, but he can also operate as a number 10, or even as an auxiliary striker - something that will surely appeal to Slavisa Jokanovic as he looks to add more variety to his attacking options.

The Daily Mail claim that the west London outfit are in talks to bring the Argentine to Craven Cottage on a free transfer, and whilst it would not be the most exciting of signings, it could turn out to be a really significant piece of business for Fulham, especially if Leto goes on to produce some of the form that convinced Liverpool to sign him more than 10 years ago.

Fulham reportedly could approach Newcastle United man if star leaves for £20million

Championship side Fulham are believed to be looking to reinvest the money received from the potential sale of Tom Crainey to sign Newcastle forward Dwight Gayle, according to the Chronicle.

Fulham have been looking to sign a new forward during the current January transfer window but have failed to make the desired signings so far due to a lack of funds.

The Cottagers have been trying to raise the money for a new forward with little success over the past few weeks but just when it looked very likely that the Championship side would not be able to sign a new forward this window, they have been offered an outlet by Premier League side West Brom.

It has been reported that the Baggies are looking to sign Fulham's Tom Craniey and are willing to pay the £20 million asking price for the midfielder.

This means that the Cottagers will have the required funds to sign a high profile striker this window and Newcastle's Dwight Gayle is regarded as the ideal candidate for the Championship side.

Fulham interested in making Premier League striker their £15m marquee signing this month

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is on Fulham's radar this January.

Fulham failed with a bid to sign Gayle in the summer transfer window as Rafa Benitez was not sure he would be able to land a replacement in time.

But the Cottagers could make a fresh approach this month.

And they would fund a move for Gayle by selling star asset and former Newcastle United target Tom Cairney, who is attracting Premier League interest.

Cairney had a remarkable season in 2016/17, helping Fulham reach the play-offs, and he was the subject of a £20m bid from the Magpies in the summer.

Now West Brom are in for the Fulham skipper – who has been below par this term due to ongoing injury concerns.

If the Baggies snap up Cairney for between £12m and £15m, then Fulham will launch a £15m for Gayle.

The 27-year-old is a proven goal scorer in the Championship after firing Newcastle to promotion last season with 23 league goals, despite spending a significant period of time out injured.

However, the former Crystal Palace star – who enjoyed a meteoric rise from non-league to Premier League football – has not featured as much this season for Newcastle and could be sold this month if a replacement comes in.

The Verdict

Dwight Gayle at £15m could prove to be a very shrewd piece of business for Fulham looking forward. In the current inflated market, spending £15m on a proven Championship goal scorer is the norm. At the age of 27, the Cottagers could get a good several years out of the poacher and this could help seal promotion back to the Premier League.

Fulham have no interest in former Liverpool man Sebastian Leto, despite reports

Reports suggested the Craven Cottage outfit were in talks with the 31-year-old, but GWL understands that is not the case

Fulham have no interest in signing former Liverpool man Sebastian Leto, despite reports to the contrary.

The Daily Mail claimed that Slavisa Jokanovic's side were in talks to sign the 31-year-old, who is currently a free agent having been released by UAE club Emirates, but GetWestLondon understand that is not the case.

Leto has played for Lanus, Liverpool, Olympiacos, Panathinaikos and Catania, making two appearance for Liverpool in the Champions League before passport issues forced him to be loaned to Greek side Olympiacos.

At 31, Leto does not fit into Fulham's over-28 policy which has been implemented by Tony Khan - something that would only be overlooked if a player can add immediate value to the first team squad.

Meanwhile, the club confirmed yesterday that Michael Madl had joined Austria Vienna , bringing an end to his two-year stint at Craven Cottage.

Fulham open discussions over the signing of Argentinian attacker

Fulham are in talks over a possible move which would bring former Liverpool winger Sebastian Leto back to England, according to The Daily Mail.

Leto is available on a free transfer and Fulham could add him to their squad as they continue to push back up the table towards the play-off zone.

The left-winger, who can also play as a striker or just behind the striker, was most recently playing in the United Arab Emirates for Emirates Club but he is now a free agent.

The Argentinian wide man previously spent time at Liverpool in the 2007/08 season after signing from Buenos Aires based club Lanus.

However, his disappointing spell at Anfield only included two League Cup appearances and a further two outings in the Champions League as he struggled with passport issues.

Leto was subsequently farmed out on loan to Olympiacos the following season before sealing a permanent move to Panathinaikos.

Since then, he has played for Catania and returned for spells with Lanus and Panathinaikos before his 2017 switch to Emirates Club.

Fulham are now keen on bringing the 31-year-old back to England on a free transfer as Slavisa Jokanovic looks to bolster this attacking options ahead of a promotion push.

The Verdict

Leto has plenty of experience, having played in Greece and Italy as well as playing Champions League football. While he might not be the most exciting name Fulham can add to their squad, he could have a point to prove in England. On a free transfer, it is a low risk move.

Burton boss Nigel Clough wants to nullify the threat of Fulham

Burton Albion are enjoying their travels more than their home games and the boss is looking forward to visiting the Cottage

Nigel Clough wants his Burton Albion side to nullify the threat of a Fulham side who are 'on an upward curve'.

The two sides meet on Saturday at Craven Cottage with the Whites having lost just three of their previous 11 games - form that has seen them rise to within a point of the play-offs.

Burton have won three of their last four away games, but it's the home form that has seen them stagnate in 22nd place in the division - one point from safety.

Clough feels the side deserved to beat Slavisa Jokanovic's men at the Cottage last season, when a last minute Ryan Sessegnon goal saved a point for the home side, and Clough is looking forward to going away once again.

He said: "I think that we are catching Fulham on an upward curve at the moment. They are putting together the kind of run that they can.

"We have to try and nullify Fulham on Saturday, that has been key in the last three away games, you can see the frustration of the home fans.

"We are looking forward to going away but we need to sort out our home form.

"We deserved to beat Fulham away last season, it is always a sucker punch when you concede in the 94th minute. We will go there this season full of confidence.

"We look forward to every game, but at the minute we are better set-up away from home. We need to get that mentality at home."

No agreement between Fulham and Southampton on Targett

Fulham are yet to agree a loan fee with Southampton for Matt Targett.

Whites boss Slavisa Jokanovic is keen to add a left-back to his squad during this month's transfer window and talks have taken place over a possible deal for Targett to move to Craven Cottage for the rest of the season.

Rafa Soares, who joined on loan after Scott Malone was sold to Huddersfield last summer, has failed to impress and Fulham want him to return to Porto.

Jokanovic also wants another striker and a centre-back but is again at odds with the club's hierarchy over transfers.

Opposition Camp

Speaking in his Wednesday press conference, Burton Albion manager Nigel Clough says he expects a difficult test at Fulham as his side try and maintain their impressive away form.

"We are relieved it's a road trip this weekend which is a strange feeling for a team to say we would rather be away. But with our abysmal home form that's the way it is, and we feel more confident away from home.

"Whether that continues with such a good side as Fulham on Saturday we will see. I think that we are catching Fulham on an upward curve at the moment.

"They are putting together the kind of run that they can. We have to try and nullify Fulham on Saturday. That has been key in the last three away games, you can see the frustration of the home fans.

"Our success on the road comes from being solid and not giving anything away. We have found it hard to take that sort of performance into home games. There is an onus on the home side to be more creative.

Fulham transfer rumours - the silly season's gossip rated

We've had a look at the transfer rumours surrounding Fulham and had our say on them

We've got two weeks left of the Transfer Window and, as ever, Fulham have been linked with name after name.

Sebastian Leto, Dwight Gayle and even Chris Martin have been linked with moves to Craven Cottage this January, but so far there has been no movement at the Cottage, except for the departures of Michael Madl and Jordan Graham.

As we enter the final part of the month that is the January transfer window, we've rated all the transfer rumours surrounding Fulham on their likeliness of happening - both outgoing and incoming.

Incomings -
Sebastian Leto

The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Fulham, with reports suggesting the two parties are in talks over a move.

This isn't true - there's nothing in these rumours and Leto won't be a Fulham player bu the end of the window.

Rating: 0

Dwight Gayle

The club were in for Gayle in the summer, and when Craig Kline left the club under a cloud, the data analyst suggested Fulham had agreed a deal to sign him in January.

So far, nothing has happened, other than various reports suggesting Fulham want to make a £15m bid for the striker.

Newcastle themselves look a bit in turmoil over their takeover fiasco, so it doesn't look like anything will be happening transfer-wise at the club.

Rating: 3

Nelson Oliveira

Another striker linked to the club is Norwich man Oliveira, who scored against Fulham in the first game of the season.

Reports suggested The Cottagers were in the race to sign the 26-year-old, but with Norwich just losing Cameron Jerome to Derby, Oliveira leaving the side looks unlikely.

Meanwhile, Fulham will only add to the side if the right option presents itself, a category Oliveira looks unlikely to fall into given the price tag.

Rating: 2

Chris Martin

Ah, Chris Martin.

Every Fulham fan remembers him well, and he's been linked with a move back to the Cottage as Derby look to offload him.

While Jokanovic is a big fan of the striker, it really looks unlikely that Martin will be plying his trade back at the Cottage any time soon.

Rating: 1

Matt Targett

Fulham want another left back, and Targett is high on their list for a loan deal.

However, talks have stagnated between the two and at the moment, a deal looks someway off.

Rating: 7

Ryan Kent

A loan move for Kent of Liverpool was tipped at the start of the window.

However, the Liverpool man has since joined Bristol City on loan and a deal to take him to the Cottage was always unlikely, especially with the amount of forwards the club have on their books as it is.

Rating: 0

Ryan Kent (Image: Liverpool Echo)

Outgoings -
Ryan Fredericks

The fullback, who has only six months left on his deal at Fulham, was linked to both Stoke and Swansea in recent weeks.

Reports in the national press suggested Fredericks was close to a move to Swansea, but Fulham have knocked back every approach they've had and are adamant the fullback won't be leaving.

Rating: 3

Ryan Fredericks

Tom Cairney

The nationals again, this time linking Tom Cairney with a move to West Brom for £12-£15m.

Fulham have received no bid for their star man and are once again adamant that no one will be leaving the club, especially Cairney.

Rating: 2

(Image: Ashley Allen/Getty Images)

Ryan Sessegnon

As it's a transfer window, it wouldn't be right without someone linking Sessegnon with a move elsewhere.

Manchester United, Tottenham, Real Madrid and PSG were amongst the names this time, but no offer was forthcoming for the 17-year-old.

Tony Khan has since come out with a statement insisting he isn't for sale - so that's that then.

Rating: 0

(Image: Evening Gazette)

Rafa Soares

Reports in Portugal said that Soares was back in the country trying to sort out his future, but he won't be leaving the Cottage unless Fulham can bring in another left back.

It's not been a happy time for the young lad from Porto, who has barely played since joining on loan.

If Fulham can bring in a replacement, Soares will most likely head back to Porto.

Fulham Academy Director Huw Jennings on the pros and cons of loan deals for young players

The Academy Director spoke about what he felt the benefits and negatives were of sending youth players from the club out on loan

Fulham Academy Director Huw Jennings has revealed the club's policy on sending youngsters out on loan is a big part of the dialogue between the Academy and the club's higher management.

Very few of the Young Whites are out on loan at the moment, with only Marek Rodak and Elijah Adebayo plying their trade away from the Cottage with Rotherham and Cheltenham respectively.

It's something clubs do regularly - sending players to a lower league club to get them experience of first team football - but Jennings thinks Fulham have to find the right line between getting youngsters experience, but making sure the experience is right for them.

He said: "We've debated this a lot, and it's a big feature for the dialogue we have with Tony Khan and Alistair Mackintosh, we've talked about this a lot.

"We want the right model, and I don't think it's an easy solution so fundamentally for me, it's about making sure we place the right player in the right situation at the right time.

"We've had some loan experiences in the past that haven't gone very well and we have to learn from that and it's really difficult sometimes to ensure that what you think you'll get out of the experience, you will do.

"Elijah Adebayo has gone out this week, it's actually interesting him for League One, but he chose Cheltenham because he felt the manager, Gary Johnson, who has watched him and whose recruitment team, his brother Peter, has watched him throughout the season and felt as though he knew him well and That was quite a key feature for Elijah.

"He's going there for half the season, and he will experience all the different emotions, I think, that players on loan will get.

"There will be the ups we hope, but there will certainly be the challenges and we have to recognise that for some players, that isn't always going to be the right option for them.

"But for others, like Marek Rodak, now on his second league loan spell at Rotherham, is going well and if we can find the right loan club for the right player then we're look to see if it's feasible."

Nigel Clough on how Fulham are channelling 1970s Liverpool with current form ahead of Burton Albion clash

The Brewers travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday looking to stop Fulham's impressive run of form in its tracks

Nigel Clough believes Fulham could be channelling their inner 1970s-era Liverpool as Burton Albion prepare for this weekend's trip to Craven Cottage.

While the Brewers will go in search of a fourth successive away victory, Slavisa Jokanovic's hosts are looking to build on a run that has seen them take 13 points from their last five matches.

That sequence of results has helped move Fulham back into play-off contention following a sluggish opening to the campaign that saw them win only twice in their first nine League games.

Last season, the Cottagers' wobble came later, in September and October, but they barely looked back from December onwards in their push for the top six.

Fulham celebrate scoring in the Championship clash with Middlesbrough at Craven Cottage (Image: Ker Robertson/Getty Images)

And Clough can see a similarity between that knack for hitting their stride at the turn of the year and the great Reds teams that won five titles between 1973 and 1980.

"I know that Liverpool used to do it many years ago.

"They always, from Christmas onwards, used to steamroll teams and then win the title, when they were at their best in the 1970s.

"So I don't know if it's a conscious plan - I don't think you can do that in the Championship.

"I'm sure if they had the choice, they would have been up there from day one.

"But you lose players, (other) players are still fitting in and gelling.

"The way that Fulham play, it takes a few games for that to happen.

"It's a bit like Brentford. All their players have settled in now and they are in the midst of a good run.

"I think that's the same with a team like Fulham.

"They have some exceptionally good players."

Fulham were the last side Burton beat at the Pirelli Stadium, back on September 16.

Since then, they have won away at Millwall, Bolton Wanderers, Reading and Sheffield Wednesday.

And at Craven Cottage on Saturday, the Brewers will again look to nullify the attacking qualities of their hosts in search of another positive result in their bid for survival.

"That's what we have to try to do again on Saturday," added Clough.

"We have to try to stop them.

"The longer we can keep it at 0-0 the better, and if we can get a goal, it increases the pressure on them and the frustration of the home supporters.

"That has been the key in the last three away games - you see the frustration of the supporters.

"It's not a bad tactic to employ.

"Even here with smaller crowds, they are urging us forward, even when it's a draw, or if you're in a losing position.

"That's when you get picked off."

West Brom target Tom Cairney discusses Fulham future and interest in January window

West Bromwich Albion face an uphill battle to land Tom Cairney, if the Fulham midfielder's comments about his future are anything to go by.

The Baggies are said to have approached the Championship side with an opening offer of around £12million and are willing to pay up to £15million.

Alan Pardew wants to add a creative spark to his side this month as he bids to guide Albion to safety and Cairney is regarded as one of the brightest talents outside the Premier League.

The 26-year-old, however, says he is happy where he is having signed a one-year contract extension in July which runs until 2021.

When asked recently by FulhamFCTV if he wishes to stay at Craven Cottage beyond January, he said: "Yeah, of course.

"I had it last summer (transfer speculation).

"I signed a contract extension in the summer and I can't do much more than that to commit my future to the club.

"I'm happy here, I love it here, and I want to stay here."

Fulham rejected a £20million bid from Newcastle United for Cairney in the summer window.

The Scotland international has made 17 appearances in the Championship since, scoring once.

"You can't put a price on happiness," Cairney told the Evening Standard last month.

"Last season I was extremely happy on and off the pitch and that's when you play your best football. I wanted to show my happiness to the fans, let them know that I want to be here and try to take Fulham forward.

"I love playing football here. That's what I want to do.

"I feel a responsibility to Fulham. It's been great ever since I arrived. I enjoy playing football, I really enjoy playing it at the Cottage and long may it continue."

Cairney joined Fulham from Hull City for around £3million in 2015 and has played 108 matches for the Whites.

Fulham star issues message that their fans will love

Fulham talisman and captain Tom Cairney has reportedly been the subject of a £12m transfer bid from Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion.

Baggies boss Alan Pardew has struggled to make an impact in his time at the Hawthorns as West Brom sit second bottom of the Premier League and Cairney is seen as the type of player who can turn their season around.

He was among the league's best players last season but injuries and Fulham's inconsistent form has meant that he has only been able to show glimpses of what he can do this time around and he only has one goal and two assists to his name so far this season.

He is still central to Fulham's plans and has told the club's fans that he wants to stay at the club. He said: "I'm happy here, I love it here, and I want to stay here. I signed a contract extension in the summer and I can't do much more than that to commit my future to the club."

The Verdict

Cairney is a quality player and is so central to the passing game that Fulham try to play. His absence has hit them hard and although they would have a lot of money in the bank to sign a replacement, losing him would be a major blow.

This statement should be music to the ears of Fulham fans and it is rare to see a player so honestly and plainly committing his future to a football club.

Why I believe Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle is EXACTLY what Fulham need in this transfer window

Whites should go all out to bring in proven Championship goalscorer

Fulham are just one point outside the Championship play-off places and they've hardly set the world alight this season.

Much like last year, the Whites have put a slow start behind them and got into their stride of late.

But how do they ensure they don't make it two failed attempts on the Premier League in two years? They need a striker and Dwight Gayle is the right man.

Here's why...

Proven track record

Gayle was the joint second highest scorer in the Championship last season, firing Newcastle United to the title with 23 goals. He was only outscored by Chris Wood, who earned a big money move to Burnley as a result.

While Gayle may have struggled in the Premier League, he's shown he can do it in the second tier, so he's not a gamble.

Goals win games

A bit of a stupid thing to say really, but let's not sugar coat it. Fulham's top scorer this season is 17-year-old left-back/left winger Ryan Sessegnon. Every team with any ambition of getting promoted needs a proven goalscorer.

Aboubaker Kamara has recently found his scoring touch, and has six to his name this season, but Fulham need more. Who can say that Kamara finding his feet will mean goals flowing from now until the end of the season?

Dwight Gayle of Newcastle United scores to make the score 2-2 during the Premier League match between Newcastle United and Leicester City at St.James' Park on December 9, 2017, (Image: Newcastle United)

Forget the money

Yes, he'll cost a lot, but that will be repaid in full if they reach the Premier League.

Different style

Bringing Gayle in would mean Slavisa Jokanovic could adopt a different style of play, should he choose to do so.

There's a wealth of creativity in that Whites side, with Sessegnon and Sheyi Ojo providing opportunities from wide and Tom Cairney, when fit, doing his thing in the middle of the park.

And if they wanted to play two up top, which in fairness is not in vogue really, they could do and really go at teams with a big man-little man routine.

The missing link?

Fulham missed out on promotion last season as they failed to break down a stubborn Reading side in the play-off semi-final. Slavisa Jokanovic has already said he needs someone to score those goals to win games when they're not playing well. Gayle is that man. He can unlock the door and find the back of the net with one opprotunity. He's exactly what Fulham need.

The FOUR reasons why Fulham reporter thinks Whites should NOT sign Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle

Money could be better spent elsewhere, says Whites writer

I don't think a move for Dwight Gayle would be the best use of the finances Fulham have available this winter, nor do I think he's the player they need.

Sounds stupid, right? Fulham need a striker and Gayle seems to fit the bill.

Not for me. Here's why...

Money

First of all, Gayle would cost the club a lot of money, and 27-years-old I'm not sure that Fulham will get much of a return on that when he does eventually move on.

Style

Secondly, Gayle will score goals, we know that, but in terms of the type of player he is, the Cottagers already have someone in the same build in Aboubakar Kamara.

He isn't scoring the goals at the moment, nor has he got the experience Gayle has, but at 22-years-old he offers a better return on money than the Newcastle man would.

(Image: Newcastle Chronicle)

Younger options

I think a better use of that money would be a younger striker, one that has the potential to score goals but at the same time can make the club money - at the end of the day, that's how clubs need to be run, whether fans like it or not.

Fulham need that fox in the box that will get onto the end of those endless balls into the 18-yard box - the side have the creative ability, they just need that finishing touch and there is no reason why a younger striker can't be the answer.

Issues elsewhere

But really, the main concern is a new left back and centre, I've always said championships are won by defences, and at the moment Fulham are lacking on that front.

Report: Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Norwich City enquire about Edwin Gyasi - available at initial £600,000

Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Norwich City are the latest English clubs to be linked with a move for the Ghanaian international.

Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham and Norwich City have enquired about Aalesund winger Edwin Gyasi, according to the Daily Mail [live blog entry 16:49].

Championship trio Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday are said to have already discussed signing Gyasi.

However, it is claimed that Sunderland wanted the Ghanaian on loan, while Aalesund favour a permanent deal.

The report adds the Norwegian club are willing to accept £600,000 up front for Gyasi, who is out of contract at the end of 2018, with add-ons which could take their potential earnings to more than £1 million.

That asking price is said to have 'alerted others' to the possibility of signing the 26-year-old, and Brighton, Fulham and Norwich appear to have seized the initiative - making contact with Aalesund.

Though only capped twice by Ghana, Gyasi, who scored or created 10 goals in 27 league games last season, would not require a work permit to move to English football, having been born and raised in the Netherlands.

Newcastle handed boost as club reportedly ready to sell to fund £15million move

Newcastle could have an additional £15million to do business this window going by recent developments at Championship club Fulham.

Reports claim the Cottagers want Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle desperately, and could be tempted to cash in on £12million-rated captain Tom Cairney in order to raise funds for the striker's move.

The London club were keen on the former Crystal Palace man during the summer transfer window, and still very much believe his goals can help them seal a playoff spot as they eye a return to the topflight.

West Bromwich Albion Interested In Fulham Midfielder: Good Deal For The Baggies?

What a massive difference a week can make to a team! When West Ham United defeated West Bromwich Albion by a scoreline of 2-1 for their first match this New Year it left the Baggies still seeking to turn around their mean fortune this season. The Baggies were suffering from a run of terrible form and change of manager did not do much to change the fortune of the club.

Their sour luck has continued in November and December with the side failing to register a single win in almost three months. A massive twenty-one game streak with no wins had firmly placed West Bromwich Albion in the relegation zone.

They had another opportunity last week when they come up against a considerably weaker opposition in the form of Exeter City and West Brom snatched it by going on to win 2-0 on the night. It did a world of good to Pardew and his men as they followed it up with another solid 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

Their first win in months means that West Bromwich Albion is still sitting in the 19th place in the league table but are just two points away from safety. They still are going for the drop but given their win last week they have shown that can seriously turn around their form, something they must do if they want to experience the riches of the Premier League next season.

With Alan Pardew in charge, West Bromwich Albion will be hoping to stay up in the Premier League after parting ways with Tony Pulis. Their performances against Tottenham and Manchester City where they lost 2-3 showed that they have enough quality in the squad to cut it out in the Premier League. It seems now, in order to help Pardew have a strong second half, West Brom is ready to be in reinforcements. Fulham captain and star midfielder Tom Cairney has been identified as a possible target by West Brom.

The 26-year-old has been in excellent form this season at Craven Cottage and West Brom are ready to reward him by bringing him to the Premier League. Fulham, who made it clear that they are not ready to part ways with any of their players and instead wants to bring in a few new faces, might be the major stumbling block in the progress of the deal.

Cairney has scored around 22 goals in over 100 appearances for Fulham and would be a good deal for West Brom, given his football dynamics. However, agreeing to a deal with a Fulham side who will in no way want to lose their captain will be difficult.
