Fulham announce player departure

Fulham have announced via their official website that the club has terminated the loan deal of Portuguese defender, Rafa Soares.

The 22-year-old joined in the summer on a season-long loan deal from Porto, but only made three appearances for the Cottagers over the course of the first half of the campaign.

A former Portugal U21 international, Soares failed to adapt to the demands of the English second tier having never played outside of his homeland before, and returns to Porto with the likelihood that he will represent their B team in the Portuguese second division.

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic has plenty of back-up in the position, and made the decision to trim his squad by ending Soares' deal early.

The Verdict

Soares failed to make the cut at Fulham, and Jokanovic has taken the sensible decision to send the player back to his parent club to continue his development.

Unfortunately just a transfer that didn't work out, Fulham fans will not be too disheartened by the departure of the Portuguse youngster.

However Soares departure will fill fans with relief, as the suggestion is that teenage superstar Ryan Sessegnon will remain with the club until the end of the season now that his fellow left back has ended his spell in West London.

Former Fulham man Yohan Mollo to trial with MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps

The 28-year-old left Fulham by mutual consent late on January 30

Yohan Mollo is set to go on trial with the Vancouver Whitecaps after being released by Fulham .

The club released the 28-year-old five months after he signed , with Mollo not being part of Slavisa Jokanovic's plans, and now the Frenchman is to head to Hawaii for a ten day training camp.

Mollo signed for Fulham on Deadline Day in the summer having been released by Zenit St Petersburg, but only made six appearances for the club and never completed a full 90 minutes.

However, he has been using his Instragram to showcase his fitness over recent weeks as he bids to find a new club - with the MLS side seemingly the next club on his hit list.

Former Fulham striker Chris Martin joins Reading from Derby

The former Fulham loanee has signed for the Madesjki Stadium outfit

Former Fulham man Chris Martin has officially joined Reading on loan until the end of the season.

He had been linked with a move to Sunderland, and to Fulham by the northern press, but he's found his way to the Madejski Stadium for the rest of the campaign.

Royals boss Jaap Stam said, "With the large number of games still to play this season, it was important to strengthen the attacking options available to us with a player who can add to what we already have within the squad.

"In Chris Martin, we have a striker who has proven his goalscoring ability at the clubs he has played for in the past and hopefully he can give us an extra impetus going forward and score goals for us."

Newcastle's Aleksandar Mitrovic in talks with Fulham after Anderlecht pull out of loan

Aleksandar Mitrovic could now be on his way to Fulham

Aleksandar Mitrovic could leave Newcastle for Fulham on Deadline Day after a loan move to Anderlecht fell through.

The Serbia striker had been expected to join the Belgian club for the rest of the season but the deal was not completed after Anderlecht failed to sell another player to finance the move.

Mitrovic travelled to Brussels on Wednesday afternoon in a private jet in order to complete the move, but might now have to travel elsewhere to complete a late switch.

He was also reported to be interesting French club Bordeaux and Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.

But Mitrovic could now stay in England after Sky Bet Championship side Fulham made a late move to sign the forward.

Sky Sports reported last week that Brighton had a bid in the region of £8m for Mitrovic rejected because Newcastle did not want to sell to a rival.

Mitrovic, 23, has been sidelined for over a month with a back injury and has not started a Premier League game this season.

He would have been returning to Anderlecht, having moved to Newcastle from the Belgian club for £13m in the summer of 2015.

Fulham chasing pre-deadline deals for Mitrović and Christie

Fulham are looking to pull off the pre-deadline signing of Aleksandar Mitrović on loan from Newcastle.

The Whites have targeted the Serbian striker, 23, after a proposed move to Anderlecht seemingly collapsed.

A number of other clubs have expressed an interest in Mitrovic but he could end up at Craven Cottage if a deal can be pushed through in time.

Fulham have also been holding talks over a possible deal to sign Middlesbrough's Republic of Ireland international defender Cyrus Christie.

Newcastle in talks over last-gasp striker deal with London club

Newcastle United could well be set to send Aleksandar Mitrovic on loan to Fulham, with talks over a last-gasp deal currently ongoing, according to Sky Sports.

The Magpies look set to announce the arrival of Islam Slimani from Leicester City, with the Algerian to spend the rest of the season at St James' Park.

This will offer Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez the additional centre forward option that he has craved this month, with Mitrovic slipping further down the pecking order as a result.

The Serbian forward had been linked with a return to former club Anderlecht but this deal fell through and as such a loan deal at Fulham could well be his last opportunity to secure regular first-team football for the rest of the season.

Newcastle have played the likes of Dwight Gayle, Joselu and Ayoze Perez ahead of Mitrovic, with Benitez clearly not convinced by the powerhouse number nine.

The Magpies and Fulham are running out of time to complete the deal, with the window closing at 11pm on Wednesday night.

Transfer news: Fulham young gun on the brink of move to France

Late business for Fulham

It looks like it could be a busy end to the window for Fulham .

The Whites are in talks to bring Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic to Craven Cottage on a loan deal until the end of the season and there could be an outgoing as well.

Youngster Ibrahima Cisse looks set for a loan move away from Fulham. GetWestLondon understands that the 23-year-old is on the brink of a move to French side Amiens until the end of the season.

Cisse is a Belgium national and has been part of the Whites' first team squad on a number of occasions this season. He has played six Championship games for the Whites and also played in the EFL Cup in two rounds for Slavisa Jokanovic's men.

Staying put! Fulham and Galatasaray target Stefano Okaka remains at Watford

Frontman will have the chance to impress Javi Gracia

Stefano Okaka remains a Watford player tonight.

The frontman was linked with a move away from Vicarage Road with the likes of Fulham and Galatasaray interested in taking him on loan for the rest of the season.

The Italian was expected to be loaned out before the transfer window shut, but Galatasaray could not get a deal done before their 9pm deadline, while the Hornets then appeared reluctant to let the frontman leave as the deadline drew nearer as they could not bring a replacement in.

Anderlecht were credited with a late interest to take the 28-year-old, who moved to Watford from the Belgian side, but that did not go through either.

Okaka will now try to impress new boss Javi Gracia and try to force his way into the new manager's forward plans.

Christie Arrives

The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Cyrus Christie from Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee, subject to deadline day clearance.

The right-back, who can also play on the wing, has penned a three-and-a-half year deal, keeping him at Craven Cottage until at least the summer of 2021, with a Club option to extend by a further 12 months.

Christie, 25, came through the academy at hometown club Coventry City, and went on to make 119 appearances for the Sky Blues after making his senior debut as a 17-year-old, taking in loan spells at Nuneaton Town and Hinckley United along the way.

Following the expiry of his Coventry contract in the summer of 2014, Christie stepped up a division to join Derby County, making 45 appearances in his debut season at Pride Park.

He spent two more seasons there, and by the time he left to join Boro last summer for a reported £2.5m he'd coincidentally played 119 times for the Rams, also.

The attack-minded defender racked up 26 appearances for the Teessiders in the first half of the season, scoring his only goal for the club in their 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage back in September.

Eligible for the Republic of Ireland through his Dublin-born grandmother, Christie won his first international cap in November 2014. A member of their 2016 European Championship squad, he has now represented his country 15 times and scored two goals.

Tony Khan said: "I am very excited to welcome Cyrus into the Fulham family on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
"He is a fantastic young player who brings both an international pedigree and a wealth of Championship experience with him. I can't wait for him to join us and help the squad continue to push for promotion."

It marks a first loan spell for the 19-year-old Estonia international, and he joins George Williams in heading to Scotland's top flight for the final months of the campaign.

Mitrovic completes Fulham loan switch

Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic has joined Fulham on loan until the end of the season.

The Serbian international has linked up with the Championship side for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign, having made seven appearances for the Magpies this term, scoring twice – against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup and West Ham in the Premier League.

Mitrovic, who joined United in July 2015, played for Teleoptik and Partizan Belgrade before making the switch to Anderlecht in 2013.

After moving to St. James' Park from the Belgian side, Mitrovic has netted 17 times in 72 outings in all competitions.

Mitrovic, who has 33 caps and 11 goals for his country, is expected to be part of Serbia's squad for this summer's World Cup finals in Russia.

Mitrović Joins On Loan

The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Aleksandar Mitrović, 23, on loan from Newcastle United for the remainder of the season, subject to deadline day clearance.

The Club saw off competition from Premier League and Championship clubs to secure the established striker's signature.

A powerful, robust frontman, Mitrović began his career in his homeland with Serbian giants FK Partizan, making his professional debut with their affiliate club FK Teleoptik.

Despite his tender age, Mitrović was top scorer for Partizan's first team in 2012/13 as they claimed the title, and his form soon attracted the attention of Belgian outfit Anderlecht, who broke their transfer record to sign him in the summer of 2013.

His debut season in Belgium was a prolific one, as he netted 16 times to help his new employers win the domestic title.

Mitrović was in even better form the following term as he scored 23 goals, prompting Newcastle to part with a reported £13m for his services.

He quickly endeared himself to the St James' Park faithful with his wholehearted displays, and ended his first season on Tyneside with nine Premier League goals to his name in the Magpies' ultimately unsuccessful battle against relegation.

Mitrović hit double figures for club and country last term, and also netted in his first two appearances for Newcastle at the start of this season.

In the summer of 2013 he was awarded his first cap for Serbia, and he currently boasts a record of a goal every three games, netting 11 times in 33 appearances.

Director of Football Tony Khan said: "I'm thrilled to welcome Aleksandar to the Club. He is a talented player who has already amassed an impressive record at the highest levels of the game.

"We're looking forward to him joining the Fulham squad and helping us build towards our ultimate goal of promotion this season."

Fulham complete pre-deadline deals for Mitrovic and Christie

Fulham beat the clock to complete the last-minute deadline day signings of defender Cyrus Christie and striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

West London Sport revealed earlier on Wednesday that the Whites were working hard to get the deals over the line before the window closed.

They managed to secure both, with Republic of Ireland right-back Christie signing a three-and-a-half-year deal at Craven Cottage, after an undisclosed fee was agreed with Middlesbrough.

The 25-year-old former Coventry and Derby player only joined Boro last summer for a reported £2.5m fee.

He played 26 times for the Teessiders, scoring his only goal for the club in their 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage back in September.

Fulham then wrapped up a loan move for Newcastle forward Mitrovic, after a proposed switch to Anderlecht seemingly collapsed.

Mitrovic scored four goals in 25 appearances in the Championship for the Magpies last season.

Fulham youngster Mattias Kait has completed his loan move to Ross County, joining the Scottish club for the rest of the season.

West London Sport recently revealed that Fulham were looking to loan out the 19-year-old.

The Estonia international has impressed for the Whites' Under-23 side and the club want him to gain first-team experience.

He is under contract at Craven Cottage until 2019.

Irish international defender pens late permanent move to Fulham

Middlesbrough right back Cyrus Christie has left the club late on transfer deadline day to permanently sign for Sky Bet Championship rivals Fulham. The Republic of Ireland international has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract at Craven Cottage, with the club also having an option to extend this further by a year.

Signing another player in this position was a priority for head coach Slavisa Jokanovic. There was some concern that Ryan Fredericks could leave the club on deadline day, but he remains a Fulham player. This effectively gives Fulham two excellent options in this area of the pitch. Christie has made 30 appearances for both club and country this season so far.

Tony Khan, the Director of Football at Fulham, expressed his delight at luring Christie to the Capital,

"I am very excited to welcome Cyrus into the Fulham family on a three-and-a-half year deal.

"He is a fantastic young player who brings an international pedigree and a wealth of Championship experience with him. I can't wait for him to join us and help the squad continue to push for promotion."

Since Tony Pulis was named the Middlesbrough manager, replacing Garry Monk, Christie has found his game time severely reduced. It was ultimately Monk who brought him to the club, with Pulis favouring Ryan Shotton in the right back position ever since his appointment. Christie however will be looking to stamp his mark on proceedings as early as possible, hoping to make his debut this weekend when Nottingham Forest, who have been very busy on transfer deadline day, are the visitors to Craven Cottage.

Fulham confirm capture of Aleksandar Mitrovic

Aleksandar Mitrovic signs on at Fulham in the Championship after Anderlecht move collapses.

Fulham have now confirmed that Aleksandar Mitrovic has signed with them, at least until the end of the seasom.

The striker was set to return to Anderlecht but when an outgoing deal fell through, the Belgian club did not have the money to pay for Mitro's loan deal.

So the striker instead flew to London, after first taking part of his Fulham medical in Brussels.

No doubt many Newcastle fans will be keeping a close eye on how he performs for the West London club.

Fulham Official Statement:

'The Club is delighted to confirm the signing of Aleksandar Mitrovic, 23, on loan from Newcastle United for the remainder of the season, subject to deadline day clearance.

Fulham confirm signing of Newcastle United man Aleksandar Mitrovic

Fulham tie up deal for striker right at the end of the transfer window

Fulham have completed the signing of Aleksandar Mitrovic on loan until the end of the season.

The move for the striker was a late one in coming up, with the Serbian's proposed move to Anderlecht falling through earlier in the day.

The Magpies frontman was desperate to leave St James' Park on loan, and Fulham have swooped to sign the 23-year-old on loan until the end of the season to boost their promotion bid.

Manager Slavisa Jokanovic was keen to add a left-back and a forward to his squad this January, and with Matt Targett and Cyrus Christie already in, Mitrovic appears to be the final piece of the jigsaw.

The Whites beat off competition from a number of interested Premier League clubs to tie him down.

Director of football Tony Khan said: "I'm thrilled to welcome Aleksandar to the club. He is a talented player who has already amassed an impressive record at the highest levels of the game.

Cyrus Christie spent 2014 to 2017 at Championship side Derby County

Fulham have signed right-back Cyrus Christie from fellow-Championship club Middlesbrough for an undisclosed fee and Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic on loan until the summer.

Republic of Ireland's Christie, 25, has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal, with the option of a further year.

The former Coventry and Derby man made 26 Middlesbrough appearances after signing for a reported £2.5m in 2017.

Mitrovic, 23, has scored twice in seven games for the Magpies this season.

Fulham's director of football, Tony Khan, told the club website: "Aleksandar is a talented player who has already amassed an impressive record at the highest levels of the game.

"Cyrus is a fantastic young player who brings both an international pedigree and a wealth of Championship experience with him."
