It was a great surprise to hear an English accent among our competitors!
Most of the team come from Scotland.

It was interesting to hear that the Pairs Figureskating was won by Germany. The male skater was a Frenchman who had his German citizenship rushed through before the Olympics and the female partner is a Ukrainian who is married to an Englishman, but she is now a German citizen.
At least their routine was choreographed by Robin Cousins so we can claim part of a Gold Medal!

Choreographer was Christopher Dean, although he is English.

I can remember the brilliance of Torvill and Dean like it was yesterday.  No pair moved the needle, changed pairs skating, especially the concept of ice "dancing" like those two.  What was it--1984--they won gold?  I sat transfixed.  I don't know the difference between a toe loop and an axel.  But I can see  greatness when it's on display.  That Dean was a choreographing genius. He changed everything.  He brought humour, slapstick, told stories through ice dance and pantomime.  Nothing like them before or since in my opinion.   Yeah, it's odd Britain doesn't have some great skaters featuring in this Olympics.  I don't get it.  Robin Cousins, he was very good.  Karen Barber.  OK, now I'm dating myself.  Surprised Torvill and Dean didn't excite an entire generation to take up the sport, if you can call it a sport.  I have a connection to Michigan, so I followed and cheered on Charlie White and Merrill Davis.  They moved ice dancing in a different direction, with all the lifts and throws.  But for sheer enjoyment, nobody matched Torvill and Dean.  Glad to read he's training others.

Yes I know what you mean, but an ex work colleague of mine who is also a personal friend, is one of those suckers you mention, and a couple of years ago he picked up a nice little earner to the tune of at least two and a half million English Pounds 💷💷💷💷, and since then his generosity has sought no boundaries.

Well if snooker and darts are considered as "sport" then ice skating most certainly can be called sport, at least they are fit and it is very active.

Some people consider American Football a sport. If that is the case then I see no reason not to introduce Fag Rolling as a sport in the next Olympics.
