Patience is a virtue, and unlike most countries, we play and succeed at the highest level at the majority of sports we enter.
Whereas a lot of countries just concentrate on a certain few, quality as opposed to quantity I suppose, and when I look outside my bedroom window, I do not see much snow or ice very often.
There are a number of countries that do not fair well at the Winter Olympics, and some do not bother to enter at all.

How many people do you know that ski professionally in UK, or luge or bobsled? That's probably the answer. Its preferable in the UK to take up a sport such as football, rugby, cricket or golf as opposed to becoming a curler

Last time around we won 4 medals in total and even that was a record for us I believe.

Yeah , like your responses , but it's not all skiing, with snow , there's figure skating.races on the ice rink,curling, etc.

give it a chance mens and woman's curling are only on day 2 and both are well placed at moment to get through the round robin

Think also of Kenya, whose distance runners we are expected to compete with, have they any winter medals.

The nearest we have in the Nordic events is the walk from Putney Bridge to Craven Cottage through Bishops Park on a cold rainy day.

We live in a Country where a dropping leaf closes down roads and railways. A hard frost makes National news. We are just not built for cold and snow. As for ice rings and dry slopes. We have no money to keep them open. We are not and never have been a great Winter Olympic Country. But we may scrape some result and it is fun watching for a limited time.

It was a great surprise to hear an English accent among our competitors!
Most of the team come from Scotland.

It was interesting to hear that the Pairs Figureskating was won by Germany. The male skater was a Frenchman who had his German citizenship rushed through before the Olympics and the female partner is a Ukrainian who is married to an Englishman, but she is now a German citizen.
At least their routine was choreographed by Robin Cousins so we can claim part of a Gold Medal!
