NFR: Referees

For me, watching MOTD this morning, clearly demonstrates why refs need more technology & support doing their incredibly difficult job.  So many crucial decisions in the vital end of season matches.  Brighton benefit from goal line technology after the ref & his assistant fail to spot the ball crossing the line.  Sparky robbed of two vital points that may cost them dearly.  Time for football to catch up with the other sports.

The Old Count

The technology has to be timely. What I mean by that is it has to be in tune with the pace of the sport.  It works in tennis because tennis is a stop start sport - same with cricket.  Goal line technology is OK in football as long as it's a quick decision. Too many interuptions for other decisions probably wouldn't work IMHO.

The standard in all divisions is poor. How much is due to poor training ? How much is due to certain managers coaching their players in how to con refs?

Woolly Mammoth

Players cheat and push referees to the limit, under instructions from their managers.
It's time the FA and other football bodies had a strict code of conduct to control the petulance of these arrogant players who show dissent of the most ridiculous, it's time some players grew up because they make themselves look fools in an attempt to try and make referees look foolish.
If players were prevented from fronting up to referees and showed more respect.
Then referee would not cheat themselves and show more bottle in making the correct decision, instead of laying an egg and pretending they did not see the incident, and that goes for linos as well.
Because these referees by bottling out of an incident they clearly see, are robbing the opposing team of justice, and that in itself is also cheating.
Stop the players trying to openly con the referees, and we may see more honest and courageous decisions by referees, and that in turn will miraculously improve their eyesight.
