Luke Shaw anyone? Last year of his contract, dont think hes flavour of the month with Mourinho.
Local -ish lad from the Molesey area. Was a brilliant prospect pre injury. Young enough to kickstart his career

I would love Shaw. Imagine our back four with two young Englishman.

We had three when we came 20th in the Championship.  :hook:

The way we play.. our full backs are practically the most important players on the pitch. They start the moves and they give us width when building pressure. Currently we have a Championship right back and no left back. If anywhere needs money spent...

We brought Christie when we were knew that Fredericks would not sign a new contract and was likely to leave - since we already had Odoi as back up - do you think it might have been to replace him ?
It could be better, but it's not a fantasy:

Yeah, the defense was what kept us up. Only 79 conceded.

But were they the same quality as Mawson and Shaw? I don't think so.

To all those who want an upgrade at RB, I hope/think we will all be surprised by Christie in the PL

Agreed but have we not aimed higher this window?

If we are upgrading all over the pitch.. for me two of the most crucial spots are our wing backs. Christie deserves a crack definitely as hasn't really put a foot wrong in the games he has played here and there. However is he the man to really compliment World Cup winner Schurrle?

We can obviously wait until January and replace if needed.. perhaps I'm being greedy?

I doubt that we can afford to buy a new team and some of last years squad will be expected to step up and gel with our illustrious new players.

Since there has been very little rumour regarding our looking for a RB, it could be that SJ rates him.

On the few times I saw him play I don't remember him doing anything wrong - he provided the pass for Mitro's first goal - and he looks a good deal stronger than Fred but still as skillful

Fully agree that CC is an adept RB - but a new LB is vital. What is something of a worry, for me, was not renewing Stuart Gray's contract. Thought he had done really well with our defence.
Stay Fulhamish ~ stay unique

We offered to buy Norwood last January for several millions, mostly to allow us to comply with the 6 match day loanees, and Brighton turned us down.

What is he worth now?

BRIGHTON REJECT NORWOOD BID
Brighton have rejected a fresh bid from Hull City for midfielder Ollie Norwood.
The former Manchester United trainee has won back-to-back promotions to the Premier League and is attracting interest from other Championship clubs.
Brighton are listening to offers for Norwood and value him at £1.5m, but we understand Hull remain the only club to have made formal bids at this stage.

You're right about a complete overhaul being risky... especially as the business has been done towards the end of pre season and most of our pre season friendlies have been about playing the fringe players. Hope we don't take until Christmas to wake up like last season!

After the Alfie Mawson Transfer is confirmed.
Left Back and Defensive Midfield Spots are essential and a real priority.
But other positions have also been identified to be strengthened before the deadline.
Providing deals are agreed, which is always touch and go as the Window draws to a close next week.

I'm suprised people think we're well covered up front.. before signing mitrovic people were desperate for us to sign a striker, worried about going into the new season with Fonte, Woodrow, Ayite and Kamara.

You can't realistically expect to just use one striker all season against every style of team and quality of opposition. stay tactically that is nonsensical as you become predictable and secondly if Mitro got a suspension or red card we'd be toothless up front.

Perhaps some on here need a check up at the doctors.

OZ-WHITE

If we need to have backup for Mitro I,d bring in Lucas Perez from Arsenal on Loan
He was loaned out last season to Deportivo - 9 goals 8 assists
If we Sub off Mitro with 20mins to go he's the style of player you want to finish a game , and if Kamara is also a late Sub on the RW its a good combination
If it wasn't for the medication I,d be chewing on your skin
