Mitrovic believes Fulham switch is settled
by Dan on June 24, 2018

Aleksandar Mitrovic could be on course for a bust-up with Newcastle United as he believes a permanent switch to Fulham has already been agreed, according to a Daily Mirror report.

The tabloid claims that the Serbian striker is of the view that a deal to see him reunited with Slavisa Jokanovic at Craven Cottage, where he spent the second half of last season on loan, has been struck – but the Magpies are still holding out for a reported fee of £20m. Newcastle are now ready to wait until the club begins its pre-season preparations on July 2nd before resuming negotiations – a stance that is set to infuriate their forward.

The 23 year-old scored 12 goals in 20 appearances after moving to Fulham on loan in January when a deadline day switch to his former club Anderlecht fell through. Mitrovic was an integral part of the side that won promotion back to the Premier League via the play-offs and is believed to be Jokanovic's top summer target. He has publicly spoken of his desire to join Fulham after being frozen out at St. James' Park, although reports from the north east have suggested Newcastle are hoping a series of strong performances at the World Cup, where he scored for Serbia in their defeat by Switzerland on Friday, could spark both further interest in his services and a bidding war.

Do Burnley have advantage in Aden Flint race?

Burnley reportedly want Bristol City's Aden Flint.

West Bromwich Albion have been linked with Aden Flint, who is also reported to be on the radar of Middlesbrough and Fulham, but Burnley could have an advantage in the race for the Bristol City defender.

According to The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 20:06pm, June 19, 2018), Championship club Middlesbrough are interested in signing Flint in the summer transfer window (click here to read more).

Love Island World Cup: If EVERY contestant was a 2018 World Cup team

Last month, The Daily Star reported of Fulham and West Brom's interest in the 28-year-old defender, who is claimed to be valued at £9 million by City.

The Daily Star has now reported of Burnley's interest in Flint, and perhaps the Clarets have an advantage over West Brom, Fulham and Middlesbrough.

Advantage Burnley?

Burnley could feature in the Europa League next season, and that could be very tempting for Flint.

The Clarets enjoyed a very successful season in 2017-18, and Sean Dyche's side will be aiming for something similar in 2018-19.

With West Brom and Middlesbrough playing in the Championship next season, the Baggies and Boro may not be as tempting as Burnley to Flint, while Fulham have only just got promoted to the Premier League.

Burnley have established themselves in the Premier League, and moving to the Clarets could be very tempting for Flint.

Newcastle United striker Mitrovic confirms desire to join Fulham – Report

Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has told the club that Fulham is the only team he wants to join this summer, according to a reputable journalist.

Bleacher Report correspondent Dean Jones has revealed that Mitrovic has made it clear he wants to quit St. James' Park for Craven Cottage.

The 23-year-old, who's currently with Serbia at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, joined the London outfit on loan in January and spearheaded their eventual promotion to the Premier League, scoring 12 goals in just 17 SkyBet Championship appearances.

The Serbian international's goalscoring form helped The Cottagers reach the playoffs, where they eventually sealed promotion with a 1-0 win against Aston Villa at Wembley Stadium.

OPINION

Aleksandar Mitrovic joined Newcastle United in 2015 after forging a reputation as one of the brightest prospects in European football. However, despite forming a great relationship with the club's fans, he hasn't really ever had the trust of manager Rafael Benitez during his time at St. James Park. A loan move to Fulham in January seemed like a weird move for the Serbian, but after his impressive goalscoring form helped Fulham to Premier League promotion, his stock is now higher than ever. He proved his quality in the SkyBet Championship last season, showcasing his brilliant finishing, superhuman strength and a real determination to win. It's no surprise that he wants to stay at a club where the manager trusts him and builds the team around him, something he didn't have at Newcastle. Toon fans will be disappointed to see him go, after seeing what he's capable of, but it seems that Benitez underestimated the 23-year-old's tremendous ability.

Everton Offer €13.2m For Croatia International But Will Have To Increase Bid To €18m To Prize Away Star Defender, Fulham & West Ham Also In Race

Besiktas defender Domagoj Vida has been closely linked with a move to the Premier League.

Turkish-Football reported Everton interest in the 29-year-old centre-back last week.

Since then a lot has changed.

Fanatik then went onto report that the Toffees made a €13.2 million offer for the centre-back.

Fotomac are now reporting that Besiktas have increased their valuation to €18 million.

Per the source, West Ham and Fulham are also in the race for the powerful defender.

The Istanbul based outfit increased their asking price for Vida after an impressive run of form in the World Cup.

The report claims that Besiktas will reject all offers that do not match their new price tag.

Vida started in the victories over Argentina and Nigeria, helping his side keep a clean sheet in both games.

The Black Eagles signed Vida on a free transfer from Dynamo Kiev in January but are prepared to sell the centre-back for the right price.

Vida has another four-years remaining on his Besiktas contract but has not ruled out a summer exit.

"All I am focused on right now is the World Cup, I will make a decision regarding my future one the tournament is over. After Russia I will take a look at the offers," Vida was quoted as saying by Turkish-Football.

Vida has two goals in 61 international caps for the Croatia national side.

Croatia have already booked a place in the World Cup Last 16.

Fulham yet to match Newcastle's valuation of Aleksandar Mitrovic

The Whites are keen on a deal for Mitrovic but so far have failed to match the north-east club's valuation of their player

Fulham are yet to match Newcastle United's valuation of Aleksandar Mitrovic - despite the Serbian wanting to move to Fulham.

The 23-year-old made it clear during his time at Craven Cottage that he was happy at the club and would like to stay once his loan deal expired, but so far no movement has been made on his future.

Mitrovic is at the World Cup at the moment with his country, where his parent club are hoping he will do well in order for them to drive a harder bargain for their man, and with a goal to his name against Switzerland in their second game in Russia that hope is looking good.

There are also a number of teams aside from Fulham that are interested in Mitrovic, including Crystal Palace, with former Cottagers' boss Roy Hodgson having watched him during the back end of his loan spell at the Cottage.

However, Fulham haven't yet matched Newcastle's valuation of the player and haven't come close to providing an offer that is deemed high enough for the north-east club to enter into talks over Mitrovic yet.

Reports in the Mirror state that Mitrovic has made it known to Newcastle that he wants to leave the club but only wants a move to Fulham, but with the two parties so far apart in their valuation of the player it looks like any deal with take time to get across the line.

However, the Whites are notorious for doing their business later in the transfer window, with the hierarchy entering into lengthy negotiations in order to get the best possible price for the players they want to sign.

Aleksandar Mitrovic 'adamant' deal has been agreed – Now on 'collision course' with NUFC – Report

According to the Mirror, Aleksandar Mitrovic is now 'adamant' that there's already an agreement for him to join Fulham this summer – despite Newcastle being yet to receive an acceptable offer for the striker.

The story suggests that the Serbian could be on a 'collision course' with Newcastle as a result, with him feeling a move to Fulham should have been completed by now – even though the Cottagers are yet to actually match our £20m plus asking-price.

Here's a snippet from the Mirror's latest update on the striker's situation:

"Aleksandar Mitrovic is on a collision course with Newcastle United.
"The Serbian striker is adamant that a deal is struck with Fulham – only the Cottagers have not yet met Rafa Benitez's valuation.
"Newcastle wanted £20m for the striker but so far that figure has not been met.
"Mitrovic has made it clear he wants to leave St James's Park – but at present the two parties are stuck in limbo until the World Cup is over and the picture becomes clearer."

After scoring 12 goals in 17 games for Fulham, it's clear that Slavisa Jokanovic would like to see him back at Craven Cottage this summer.

He's not the only one according to Bleacher Report's Dean Jones, who claims that Mitrovic has already made his mind up, telling Newcastle that he wants to leave – being intent on securing a permanent move to West London this summer.

Fulham had no grand plans for Sessegnon but he can now be one of the best in the world

Ryan Sessegnon started training with the first side as a 15-year-old, but is now one of their key players as they prepare for life in the Premier League

Slavisa Jokanovic and Fulham had no grand plans for Ryan Sessegnon when he started training with the side at 15.

But that pre-season convinced the head coach he had the quality to help the team in the Championship in the upcoming season, and now the Serbian truly believes Sessegnon will be one of the best in the world.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a staggering two years - with nearly a century of games under his belt, he ended last season as Fulham's top scorer with 16 goals and has been linked to some of the biggest clubs in the world.

But three years ago, when he started training with Jokanovic's first team in the head coach's first season at Fulham, there was no grand plan for the wonderkid to become one of the best young players in the world.

After seeing him during that period and in pre-season, where he first netted against Brighton and Have Albion at Aldershot Town's EBB Stadium, Jokanovic made the decision to make him an option for his side that was to mount a challenge for the Premier League, and the Cottagers and Sessegnon haven't looked back since.

In his Daily Mail column, Jokanovic said: "Ryan has ambition. If he is lucky with injuries, he can be one of the top players in the world and that's great for England.

(Image: Clive Mason/Getty Images)

"When he came to train with us at 15 we had no grand plans for him but he showed in that pre-season that he had the quality to be an important option for the team. I took the decision and he has made great steps.

"He turned 18 in May and to have played nearly 100 games at that age is exceptional. He made his debut at Leeds United and that surprised some of his team-mates but it shouldn't have. He was good enough. He copes well in every new situation you put him in.

"There are no flash cars as far as I'm aware, I'm not even sure if he has his driving licence yet. What I do know is that I'm at our Motspur Park training ground for 8am and I often see him walking in already looking to begin his learning for the day.

"The world doesn't revolve around him. He knows the meaning of sacrifice, solidarity and support for his team-mates.

"This trip will serve as great motivation for his career. The next step for him will be to become part of England's squad for the European Championship in 2020".

Fulham would be ideal place to afford £9m-rated speedster another go at the Premier League

The Fulham fans in amongst the Transfer Tavern are still relishing every moment as their return to the Premier League begins in a matter of months time, and our punters can't wait.

They deservedly got promoted through the play-offs with a 1-0 win over Aston Villa. Having been absent from the Premier League since 2014, Craven Cottage is well awaiting the return of top-flight football. Their team is already full of talent but just to bolster their chances further of having a successful season, our punters believe that Fulham should look to bring Oliver Burke, (who is valued at £9 million on Transfermarkt) back to the Premier League where he just spent a season with West Brom, unfortunately getting relegated with them.

The winger is lightning quick and given a proper chance again in the top flight with a team like Fulham could see Oliver Burke thrive, properly presenting his talent. Burke is only now 21-years-old so has a lot of time to improve his game and become a key player for a side in need of a winger like the Cottagers are. The Scotsman impressed massively during his time with RB Leipzig out in Germany but only managed to feature in 15 Premier League games last season, partly to do with an injury he sustained.

Fulham are a team who would be sure to give Oliver Burke a chance and with his pace already causing problems for top-flight times, if he manages to bring goals and more assists into his game, Oliver Burke could be a player to watch out for next season...

Fulham wonderkid starts pre-season early as he looks to follow in Sessegnon's footsteps

The 17-year-old made his debut last season but has started pre-season early in a bid to impress ahead of the new season

Fulham wonderkid Matt O'Riley has started his pre-season training early as he looks to make the next step at Motspur Park and break into the first team.

The side aren't due back for pre-season until the end of the month, but with competition for places expected to be even higher now the side are in the Premier League, the 17-year-old has started putting in the work early this summer.

O'Riley has been at Fulham since the age of eight and made his first team debut last season in the Carabao Cup victory over Wycombe Wanderers, making his home debut in the next round against Bristol Rovers.

He was training with the first team all throughout last season and signed his first professional deal on his 17th birthday which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2020.

Along with Ryan and Steven Sessegnon, O'Riley is one of the highest rated youngsters at the club and has been tracked by the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, while Spanish side Levante wanted him on loan from Fulham last season.

He'll be hoping to follow Sessegnon's steps and break into the first team next season, although with promotion to the Premier League the route has gotten that bit harder.

However, O'Riley has started putting in the graft early in a bid to impress Slavisa Jokanovic ahead of the new season, starting pre-season training by himself before the rest of the first team arrive back from their holidays.

Jokanovic is a fan of O'Riley and has had him with the first team squad on numerous matchdays last season in order for him to gain vital experience, while he also made the bench against Cardiff City in the Championship early last season.

Why this 32-year-old former England international would be a perfect signing for Fulham

Premier League newcomers Fulham are in the market for a goalkeeper. According to The Sun, former Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul, who spent last season at Brighton as Matt Ryan's understudy, is likely to depart in search of regular football.

The report further states that Krul is angling for a move to Craven Cottage in which Fulham's David Button would move in the opposite direction as his replacement. But could Derby County's Scott Carson be the answer to Fulham's woes?

The 32-year-old former England international would be an experienced new addition for Fulham. After all, Carson has made 487 appearances under 21 managers in nine different clubs, in a senior career that has spanned over 15 years.

He was Leeds United's goalkeeper on the day they were relegated from the Premier League in 2004. He was also a part of Liverpool's iconic Champions League semi-final win in Istanbul. In addition to that, Carson also won the FA Cup with the Reds in 2006.

Carson played 49 times for Derby County last season – which includes 46 Championship games, two playoff matches and an FA Cup tie. In fact, he has racked up 138 appearances for Derby in the past three seasons.

Fulham need to sign quality players to avoid dropping back to the Championship and in Carson, they have an experienced player who, in his own words, has said:

"I know now that I don't have to go on to the field and make an unbelievable save for people to think I've played well, or come out for a cross on the edge of the box because I haven't had a lot to do. I just need to do my job and that doesn't have to be spectacular. Now, if I don't have anything to do in 90 minutes, then I'm happy with that as long as we're winning."

The Premier League new boys can easily get their man since he has two years left on his contract. Carson has reinvented him and that is one of the reasons for his longevity and at Craven Cottage, he could embark on a new chapter.

Krul might be ready for a move to Fulham but as far as experience is concerned, Carson would be a better choice. Hence, the Cottagers must definitely consider a move for the towering Englishman this summer.

Slavisa Jokanovic to demand that Fulham sign Matt Targett

Ahead of fresh contract talks with Fulham in the coming week, Slavisa Jokanovic will demand that the club do all that they can to sign Matt Targett from Southampton permanently, according to the Mirror.

Jokanovic recruited the young left-back on loan in January until the end of the recently-concluded season and it's safe to say that Targett's tenure in West London was a resounding success.

The Whites secured promotion via the play-offs and are preparing for life back in the Premier League. With Targett's loan spell having expired, it seems they are desperate to sign him on a permanent deal.

It's believed that Fulham had an opening offer worth £10 million turned down by Saints, with Targett understood to be a big part of their plans for the future.

However, Fulham boss Jokanovic does not appear to be giving up in his desire to sign Targett, with the Mirror claiming that he will be made one of the club's priority signings this summer.

The London club want to tie down Jokanovic to a new and improved deal following their promotion, but it seems Fulham's efforts to re-sign their loan stars from last season will be a dealbreaker for the Serbian boss.
