Not sure who they are or how we are going to get them but we only need players whose CV says they are proven Prem players and fairly recently ...
List to begin with, please add accordingly :-
Jermain Defoe - Bournemouth
Victor Moses - Chelsea
Cahill - Chelsea
Drinkwater - Chelsea
Hudson Odoi - Chelsea (allow me 1)
Jagielka - EVerton
Okazaki - Leicester
King - Leicester
Clyne - Liverpool
Mangala - Man City
Valancia - Man Utd

admittedly not many midfielders there help me out

Bang on. What DON'T need is more imports who have never played in the English game.  The mind boggles as to what we  could have got for the almost 50 mil Anguissa and Seri cost.

The owners will not buy those players, it is to obvious a selection of them would help. What we will get is a few more lightweight unknown midfielders, rather too late in january. Unfortunately TK is way out of hiis depth and it is such a shame he doesn't havve rhe experience tovrealise we need to change. He has cost us a brilliant manager a d will cost us our place in the prem.

Asotosyios

Definitely bang on, because the rules in the Premier League are different from the foreign leagues

+1. It's a disgrace how much we paid for Seri and Anguissa, both overvalued under-performers.

YES, Defoe saved Sunderland the season Newcastle went down. I'd take Cahill, Phil too, Valencia is a pretty much a starter for Jose, can forget on that one.
Pass on Okazaki, King, Clyne and especially Mangala.

Call me crazy I am a big fan of Steven Davies, I think even at 33 he can add something to this squad that Seri and Zambo never will. Hell, right now, I'd even take Joey Barton or Kevin Nolan out of retirement, at least we'd know we're not going down without a fight.

Fighters, ball winners wih solid premier league experience is what we need. No time will be left to train and acclimatise players from overseas.

And run the risk of missing out on another hangeland? What we actually need is the players that our manager wants, who ever they are and where ever they come from. No more input from Tony and his stupid algorithm
CHRIS MARTIN IS SO BAD,  WE NOW PRAISE HIM FOR MAKING A RUN.

Brilliant managers get more than 5 points from 12 games.

To a huge extent, A manager can only be as good as the players he has to choose from.

Have we established yet if Slav picked the players in the summer transfer window, or was it the anaylical team and Tony Khan and he was told to fit them in the squad?

We know they were not slava's choice. They said so and he said so, not explicitly, butimplicitly. And we got them to late.

Can't blame Slav for their performance then, or particularly then. January tranfer window crucial

No doubt we will end up with one or two lightweights which the manager will not want and probably not play.  Tony Kahn and his team should not be let within one hundred miles of recruiting players for a professional football club.  He doesn't know what he's doing and one can only feel sorry for the manager being presented with large amounts of dross not suitable for purpose.  What a shame that Mr. Kahn senior can't just stick to funding the club rather than using it as a plaything for his son.

Matt10

Plenty of players that are on other teams, who have never played in the Premier League, yet have done just fine. So this constant narrative of recruitment is boring and happenstance. Valuation of Seri or Zambo is just that, a valuation, and there's no turning back from that just because they have not validated the price tag. You work in a salary position, if you underperform is it your hiring manager's fault or is it your own?

In terms of who we can go after, I'd love to just pick out a player or two from the Championship, but that's not realistic as they're starters for their respective clubs. In terms of the list on the OP, I think Jagielka would be a solid choice. Then a dream RB would be Clyne, but I hesitate with these PL experienced FBs that may or may not act better than the rest of the team; see Fosu-Mensah.

Fosu Mensah not proven - just ask any Palace fan why he is not there this year. No chances at Utd either. We are talking about proven at this level

Right, which is why I referenced to just see how TFM has been this season. He acts like he's better than everyone else, yet switches off and is complacent.

In other words, I would prefer to not have another version of him.

Yes.  Please no more French lightweights/dwarfs.  Cahill, Clyne, Okazaki, Drinkwater.
