The 19-year-old winger, who will be involved with England at the Under-21 European Championship in Italy and San Marino this month, has been chased by other top clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United. He comes from an Ivorian family and speaks French, meaning a move to PSG would hold a certain appeal.

Sessegnon has made it clear he wants to join Spurs, because he believes he would thrive under Mauricio Pochettino. The Spurs manager has an excellent track record for developing young English talent. Pochettino would like a deal for Sessegnon to be completed by 8 July, which is when his players will report for pre-season training.

Fulham have mentioned a fee of £45m for a player who, despite his youth, has already made over 100 league appearances for the club, including 35 in the Premier League over this past season when they were relegated.

Spurs, though, are not inclined to pay more than £25m and they know that Fulham would face the disastrous prospect of losing Sessegnon for only training costs if they did not do business now.

Fulham star Ryan Sessegnon desperate to join Spurs despite interest from Man United

Ryan Sessegnon has informed Fulham that he will not sign a new contract with the club following their relegation from the Premier League and has set his sights on securing a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to the Guardian.

The 19-year-old's existing deal with Fulham is set to expire next summer meaning that the club would only be entitled to a compensation fee for his development. Consequently, Fulham will reluctantly offload him this summer and have set an asking price of £45m. A host of clubs in England and abroad have been linked with a move for the versatile teenager including clubs in the Bundesliga, PSG and Manchester United, who were reported to have opened discussions with Fulham over his signature last month. Another club who are keeping track of developments are Spurs who hold a long-term interest in Sessegnon. There were widespread reports that Spurs would have bid for Sessegnon last summer had Fulham not achieved promotion from the Championship.

Although Sessegnon has told Fulham that he wishes to join Spurs in order to work alongside Mauricio Pochettino, it is believed that the Champions League finalists are reluctant to pay more than £25m for him given his contractual situation. Pochettino has an excellent track record of developing young English talent and has a reputation for improving full-backs with the likes of Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Luke Shaw all flourishing under his coaching methods. Sessegnon, who can play at left-back or as a winger, has already amassed over a century of appearances for Fulham including 35 in the Premier League last season. During his debut campaign in the top-flight, Sessegnon scored twice and provided four assists.

Ryan Sessegnon to Tottenham: When Pochettino wants deal complete, transfer fee & Fulham contract

Here's the latest on the winger's proposed move across the capital

Ryan Sessegnon looks certain to be on the move this summer following Fulham's relegation from the Premier League after only a single season.

A key player for the west London side in their promotion from the Championship back in 2018, the 19-year-old suffered a frustrating time in the top flight and only managed to net two goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.

However, that's not put off interested clubs acquiring him before the transfer deadline.

Spurs, who were heavily linked with the winger 12 months ago, are once again keen on signing him, with Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United also believed to be interested.

Mauricio Pochettino is believed to have funds available for next season and the prospect of the manager working with the youngster is most definitely very exciting.

Here's what we know about the player's future so far.

Fulham contract

It appears that Scott Parker's side are going to have to cash in on the player this summer as he has told Fulham he will not extend his contract that expires in 2020, according to The Guardian.

The report also claims that the player has his heart set on a move to Spurs so he can work under Pochettino despite interest from PSG and Manchester United.

It is believed the manager wants the deal done and dusted by Monday, July 8, the day when the Spurs team report back to Hotspur Way for pre-season training.

Transfer fee

Fulham are said to still want big money for the player despite the fact his contract expires at the end of next June.

A fee of £45million has been mentioned but Spurs are not inclined to pay more than £25m for the England U21 international given that he only has one more year left on his current contract.

Sessegnon's future

The youngster was rather coy about his future towards the end of last season when speaking to Sky Sports.

Quizzed about if he will still be at Craven Cottage come August, he said: "I'm still a Fulham player, contracted until 2020.

"So I'm still a Fulham player and in terms of that, that's all I can say at the moment."

Parker on keeping Sessegnon

Speaking following the 4-0 drubbing against Newcastle United on the final day, Parker spoke about the difficulty of trying to keep the player in west London.

"When you're relegated, you'll always be vulnerable to losing your best players. We will be no different," said the ex-Spurs midfielder.

"In saying that, the owners are committed to this team and have invested a lot of money into this team.

"I have no doubt they will be doing everything in their power to keep the best talent and best players, so that gives us an opportunity next year.

"Of course I'd love Ryan Sessegnon to be at the club. Ryan fits into the bracket of a few others we want to keep. It's going to be a busy summer of rebuilding and us trying to keep hold of players."

Everton appoint Luis Boa Morte as assistant manager

Everton appoint former Fulham ace

Everton have confirmed that former Fulham star Luis Boa Morte will be Marco Silva's assistant next season after João Pedro Sousa left the Toffees.

Everton have moved quickly after Sousa decided to leave Goodison Park.

The former number recently two took up the managerial position at Famalicão in his homeland of Portugal.

That left Marco Silva looking for a new number two and it looks as though Everton have already found their man.

A summer of change at Goodison Park

That is because the Toffees have announced the arrival of former Arsenal, Fulham and Aston Villa star Luis Boa Morte as their new assistant boss.

Boa Morte joins after a spell in the same capacity with Israeli Premier League side Maccabi.

Before that, the former Premier League veteran managed several youth teams in Portugal.

Now, he's excited to join Everton and is already looking forward to pre-season.

"I'm very happy to be joining Everton, a big club with so much history and tradition," he explained, as quoted on the official Everton website.

"I'm excited to be working again with the manager, Marco Silva, who is a great coach and I would like to thank him for providing me with such a big opportunity.

"I'm looking forward to meeting all the players and staff at the Club when we return for pre-season training next month and start the preparations for the 2019/20 Premier League season."

Everton release Ashley Williams & Phil Jagielka

Boa Morte's appointment isn't the only news Everton have announced today.

The Toffees released their retained list and confirmed the departures of both Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka.

Both of their contracts are set to expire shortly and will be available on free transfers.

Everton 'give Tottenham their demands' for Lucas Digne

Everton are set for a busy summer in the transfer market.

Not only will they look to strengthen, but some of their stars are also being linked with moves away.

The latest of those links include Lucas Digne, with the Frenchman linked with Spurs.

Spurs get boost in chase for exciting target

Fulham could lose Ryan Sessegnon this summer after he told the club that he wants a move to Tottenham according to The Guardian.

The 19-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract, but he has told the club that he will not renew his deal.

And amid interest from Spurs, Manchester United and PSG, the Cottagers may have to cash in on him this summer or risk losing out on a decent fee for the winger.

Tottenham have been long-term admirers of Sessegnon and are reportedly prepared to pay Fulham £25 million for his services, but the club want £20m more than that.

The England U21 player has made 110 appearances for the club despite his youth, and has contributed with 23 goals and 17 assists.

So far, Fulham have stood firm and kept hold of their academy product, and they could do so again in order to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

The Verdict

It is surprising that Fulham have kept on for Sessegnon for so long, given that Spurs in particular have been interested in him since he first broke onto the scene more than two years ago.

It is disappoint for Fulham fans who would have wanted him to stay on long-term. That could have been possible if Fulham were still in the Premier League, but after a disastrous Sessegnon knows his future lies elsewhere. He could be integral in Fulham's chances of promotion, so there is always a chance he could still stay.

Sessegnon has shown commitment to the club in recent years, but will feel he has achieved he can at the club. Knowing there is Premier League interest is unsettling and it is not surprising that he wants a move away.

New Everton appointment could reopen old wounds

Luis Boa Morte and Duncan Ferguson have had a run-in in the past

Everton earlier today announced the appointment of Luis Boa Morte as the assistant to Marco Silva, with the pair having formerly worked together at Sporting Lisbon.

However, eagle-eyed Blues have noted that Boa Morte, who spent time in the Premier League previously playing for Arsenal, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham United also has had a run-in with another assistant on Silva's staff.

Following a 1-1 draw between Everton and Fulham in an FA Cup fourth-round game in the 2003-04 season, Boa Morte claimed that Duncan Ferguson had racially abused him.

The Portuguese winger was quoted as saying that towards the end of the game when the Toffees had equalized late, Ferguson had confronted him, pushing and punching him as well.

"Things happened when the referee was giving a yellow card at the other end of the pitch.

"Ferguson just came towards me and started offending me with racist abuse and said something I cannot put up with. He cannot call me a 'black ****' while he is playing football. He should at least respect the black players in his team.

"It is something I cannot allow someone to do. I want the FA to investigate. I am really angry about what happened. I have never had to suffer anything like this before in my whole career."

The Scottish forward vehemently denied using any racist abuse, a claim that was backed up his Everton teammates in following days. Fulham later filed a protest with the Football Association.

For those curious about how the replay turned out two weeks later, Boa Morte created both goals as Fulham dumped out the Blues 2-1. Big Dun missed the game with injury, preventing another further confrontation, but Lee Carsley ensured he had a warm welcome going in with a wild tackles that was quickly repaid by the Cottagers as the game degenerated into a bad-tempered slog.

At the time the Toffees full co-operated with the FA, with then chief executive Mike Dunford adding -

"It is three weeks now since the game and we still have not had anything in writing from the FA.

"I have received a phone call from the FA, and they have said they would like to talk to Duncan. We are now waiting for a date for that meeting, which will probably be in the next 14 days."

Eventually the investigation was dropped due to a lack of evidence, but it will certainly be interesting to see if the pair have made up their differences when Marco Silva convenes his first coaching team meeting in the next few weeks.

Report: Fulham want £45m for contract rebel, Tottenham only willing to pay £25m

The youngster looks to have his heart set on a move to Spurs this summer.

Ryan Sessegnon has rocked Fulham by telling them that he won't be signing an extension to his current deal, according to The Guardian.

The Cottagers star was part of the squad relegated from the Premier League during 2018/19 and is not seeking an immediate return to the top-flight.

It is thought that Sessegnon has his heart set on a move to Spurs, although there could be some bartering to take place over the fee involved.

The Guardian piece suggests that Fulham want £45 million for the 19-year-old, although Spurs won't go above £25 million.

Sessegnon has played over 100 times for the Cottagers, despite his tender years and it already an England Under-21 international.

Mauricio Pochettino is a master when it comes to getting the best out of younger players and it is little surprise that the Fulham man is keen to head to North London.

TBR Verdict

Fulham could play a risky game if they choose to demand £45 million for Sessegnon.

Spurs could well decide to wait until next summer if they can't land their target for £25 million now.

Losing Sessegnon on a free would be disastrous and Fulham must seriously consider any advances from Spurs.

Tottenham would be getting themselves a fine young player. Sessegnon proved a massive hit during the Cottagers' promotion campaign of 2017/18 and there is lots of time for him to improve.

Pochettino has proved his worth at working with young players and he could be the perfect manager for the 19-year-old's development.

Ryan Sessegnon rejects new Fulham contract

Ryan Sessegnon looks set to leave Fulham after turning down a new contract

Ryan Sessegnon has told Fulham he will not be signing a new contract offered to him by the club, Sky Sports News understands.

In May, Sky Sports News reported that Manchester United had made contact with Fulham about a potential deal, while Tottenham are also understood to be interested in the 19-year-old.

SSN understands Sessegnon is eager to stay in London, with Spurs his preferred destination, although there has not been contact between the clubs.

Sessegnon featured 35 times in the Premier League last season, but struggled to recapture the form which saw him score 16 goals in Fulham's Championship promotion-winning season in 2017/18.

Revealed: Landmark Tottenham double deal stalls due to Pochettino

Ryan Sessegnon's potential move to Tottenham has stalled amid doubts over the future of Mauricio Pochettino, Football Insider understands.

The Fulham sensation is eager to sign for Spurs and they are his preferred destination ahead of other interested clubs including Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Tottenham are working on agreeing a fee with Fulham for the transfer of Sessegnon, with the possibility that his twin brother Steven could also be included as part of a double deal.

A source with knowledge of Sessegnon's situation has told Football Insider that a significant factor in the left winger's desire to join the north Londoners is to work under Pochettino.

However, the Spurs manager's own future is not nailed down as he seeks clarity from chairman Daniel Levy over the club's ambition and willingness to compete with with the elite Premier League and Champions League clubs.

Sessegnon, 19, will hold off on putting pen to paper on a Spurs deal until it is clear that Pochettino will remain as manager of the club for a sixth season.

The more famed of the Sessegnon twins has made a huge impact since breaking into the Fulham first team aged 16 and has already accumulated 120 first-team appearances, playing on both the left wing and at left-back.

Brother Steven made his senior bow in the League Cup aged 17 and has played four times for Fulham as a right-back.

He has a contract with the London club that runs until 2022, while fellow England youth international Ryan has a deal that expires next summer.
