Ryan Sessegnon latest and why Pochettino needs him just as much as the teen needs the Argentine

The Fulham teenager will find the perfect manager at Tottenham and Pochettino needs him

Ryan Sessegnon is expected to move to Tottenham Hotspur at some point this summer and it might just be that Mauricio Pochettino needs the teenager just as much as the Fulham youngster needs him.

Tottenham have tracked the 19-year-old since he burst on the scene at 16-years-old and they have also been keeping close tabs on his twin brother Steven.

Ryan was the toast of the Championship in the Cottagers' promotion season and despite interest from Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool, he chose to sign his first professional deal with his boyhood club and realise his dream of playing for them in the Premier League.

Despite scoring twice and laying on six assists for the struggling Cottagers this season, Sessegnon did not made the impact some expected, although for a teenager taking his first steps in the top flight it was all part of his development.

With just a year left on that first professional deal, that ÂŁ50m valuation on the teenager is likely to have dropped.

football.london understands that while Spurs are interested in making a move for Sessegnon they have yet to enter into talks with Fulham this summer over his transfer.

Tottenham could be set to make their move for Sessegnon once his involvement ends in the European U21 Championships with England this month. The teenager flies out to Italy with the national squad next Friday.

On his side of things, Sessegnon is believed to be keen on working with Pochettino and reports claim he has told Fulham that he is not looking to sign a new deal with them, which puts the ball in Spurs' court.

Despite interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and PSG, Tottenham will make a move because Mauricio Pochettino and Ryan Sessegnon is a match made in heaven.

For the teenager he would be studying under one of the best developers of young talents in world football. The trail of players who have gained their senior international debuts after working with Pochettino is long and winding and England in particular has benefited enormously from his time on these shores.

Ryan Sessegnon (Image: Catherine Ivill/Getty Images)

The Argentine is also something of a full-back whisperer, having progressed the careers of Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier and Ben Davies at Spurs as well as Luke Shaw and Nathaniel Clyne at Southampton.

Sessegnon began as a left-back before being switched to a more attacking wide role. Pochettino could well continue his development in both roles before deciding where his future lies.

Likewise Sessegnon is a player that the Tottenham manager needs on a couple of levels.

Pochettino has worked with the same group of players for some time now and he needs fresh impetus. He admits he is a manager who thrives on the training ground, working one to one with players whenever he can and helping their development.

Sessegnon will provide him with a fresh canvas to work on and has the potential to be one of the most exciting young talents in British football. He is a player Pochettino will relish working with.

He also possesses the versatility that the Spurs manager craves and to be able to show tactical discipline as a teenager is an asset that few young players can boast.

Dele Alli is one player who had the same ability as a teenager to take on tactical instructions at such a tender age and Pochettino has loved working with the England midfielder.

The expected arrival of Sessegnon will provide a shot in the arm for Pochettino and his coaching instincts if he was starting to feel stale. He certainly needs new challenges after the grind of the past 12 months.

In terms of the squad, the young Fulham starlet will also provide pace, penetration and a final ball that Spurs have been lacking down the left-hand side of the pitch at times this season.

One thing is for sure, if Sessegnon and Pochettino do team up as expected, the young wide man will soon be knocking on Gareth Southgate's door as well.

Boa Morte appointment raises more than eyebrows at Everton

Everton's appointment of former Fulham and West Ham man Luis Boa Morte has raised more than a few eyebrows among Evertonians, who the 41 year old once lashed out at during his playing days.

Boa Morte sparked a strange sequence of events after the Blues had lost 2-1 to Fulham in London, accusing Duncan Ferguson – with whom he will be working closely under Marco Silva – of racially abusing him. The claims were found to be false, and Boa Morte had also been involved in an incident during the match as Everton fans launched lighters and programmes at him.

He will hope that his words about the club can go some way to earn him a warmer welcome than the last appointment of an assistant manager that Evertonians weren't impressed with. That of Sammy Lee.

Boa Morte, having worked with Marco Silva before in Portugal, has already cut his teeth in management at the lower levels in his native land, and will bring some experience as well as a good working knowledge of the Everton manager.

He told the official site, "I'm very happy to be joining Everton, a big club with so much history and tradition.

"I'm excited to be working again with the manager, Marco Silva, who is a great coach and I would like to thank him for providing me with such a big opportunity.

"I'm looking forward to meeting all the players and staff at the Club when we return for pre-season training next month and start the preparations for the 2019/20 Premier League season."

Man Utd and Tottenham handed Ryan Sessegnon update after latest Fulham development
RYAN SESSEGNON has put Manchester United and Tottenham on alert after reports claimed he will snub a new contract at Fulham.

Sessegnon is one of the most sought-after young players in the country despite suffering relegation with the Cottagers last season.

United and Spurs are understood to be keen on the player, who is comfortable at both full-back and on the wing.

And Sky Sports claim their chances of signing him have improved as he looks certain to leave in the summer.

Sessegnon, 19, is said to prefer a move to Spurs to link up with manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Previous reports have claimed he wants to play in the Champions League and United are unable to offer him a place in Europe's biggest competition.

He has also been linked with the likes of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig.

Fulham boss Scott Parker has said he is desperate to keep him at the club but admits he is powerless to stop him leaving

"When you're relegated you'll always be vulnerable to losing your best players," he said last month. "We will be no different.

"In saying that, the owners are committed to this team and have invested a lot of money into this team.

"I have no doubt they will be doing everything in their power to keep the best talent and best players so that gives us an opportunity next year.

"Of course I'd love Ryan Sessegnon to be at the club.

"Ryan fits into the bracket of a few others we want to keep.

"It's going to be a busy summer of rebuilding and us trying to keep hold of players."

Sessegnon made 35 appearances in the Premier League last season, 26 of them starts.

He scored two goals and chipped in with another six assists as Parker's side finished 19th in the table.

West Ham handed boost in Mitrovic pursuit

West Ham have surely been given a boost when it comes to their pursuit of Fulham attacker Aleksandar Mitrovic as Scott Parker's side will give Aboubakar Kamara a second chance to impress.

The Evening Standard previously reported that the Hammers are considering a summer move for the powerful forward after he scored 11 Premier League games in his 2018/19 campaign.

And it seems their chances of getting him have improved if they end up acting in their pursuit of Mitrovic.

The Sun reported on Saturday that Parker will give Kamara a second chance to impress at Craven Cottage next season once he returns to the club in pre-season after his loan spell at Turkish club Yeni Malatyaspor.

The newspaper claim that Kamara is set for clear-the-air talks with Parker but is expected to stick around as he is considered a vital part of Fulham's plans to instantly win promotion back to the Premier League next season.

Given that Kamara was arrested on suspicion of Actual Bodily Harm in a bust-up at the training ground, as stated by The Sun, and got into a row with Mitrovic during a yoga class, as covered by The Sun, this is quite the turn up for the books.

However while it may be disappointing news for Fulham fans, as why would they want a troublesome player to be given another chance, it surely spell good news for West Ham.

If Kamara is set to stick around, then Fulham will surely be willing to part with Mitrovic if a decent offer comes in.

Kamara can take up the Serbian powerhouse's place in the first-team and it means that the Cottagers aren't scrambling to get a replacement through the door for the forward.

Also surely Mitrovic will be more inclined to leave if Kamara is back in the fold.

While the two may have made up, given that they managed to fall out during a yoga session, they clearly don't see eye-to-eye or enjoy each other's company; so surely Mitrovic would be willing to leave rather than put up with Kamara's drama.

This will play into the Hammers' hands and help them lure him to the London Stadium, as the attacker is no doubt settled in the city and would rather be playing in England's top-flight anyway.

Report: Fulham weighing up ÂŁ600,000 Antwerp offer for Ibrahima Cisse

Cisse is reported to have cost Fulham around three times that amount two years ago.

Fulham are 'weighing up a bid' from Royal Antwerp for the Cottagers midfielder, Ibrahima Cisse, according to The Sun.

Cisse joined Fulham from Standard Liege two years ago, at a reported cost of ÂŁ2.25 million (Transfermarkt).

But he has played just 13 times for the London side, who are expected to cull their squad after being relegated back to the Championship.

And after entering the final year of his contract at Craven Cottage, Cisse is one of those on whom Fulham may look to cash in.

Whether or not they are willing to take a near ÂŁ1.7 million hit on the 25-year-old Guinea international, however, remains to be seen.

Fulham have already released the high-profile first-team pair, Ryan Babel and Lazar Markovic, and cut short Andre Schurrle's loan spell.

Meanwhile, the Cottagers' stars, Ryan Sessegnon and Aleksandar Mitrovic have interest from a number of clubs, including Manchester United and West Ham United, respectively, according to The Sun.

2019/20 Preview: Fulham

The 2018/19 campaign promised so much for Fulham, who had won promotion to the Premier League via the Sky Bet Championship play-offs.

Under Slaviša Jokanović, the Cottagers played a magnificent brand of football en route to securing their top flight status and were tipped for a successful season amongst England's elite.

A wealth of talent came through the door at Craven Cottage – most notably Jean Michaël Seri, who arrived from Nice despite being linked with Spanish giants Barcelona. Aleksandar Mitrovic, who helped fire Fulham to promotion, made his loan move from Newcastle United permanent and Alfie Mawson joined from Swansea City.
Add to that the loan signings of Calum Chambers, Luciano Vietto and German World Cup winning forward Andre Schürrle, all suggestions indicated that Jokanović's side could make a serious assault on the top half of the table.

But, as the old adage goes, money doesn't necessarily buy you success. With a reported ÂŁ100m plus spent on transfers during the summer window, Fulham lost their opening two games of the season at home to Crystal Palace and away at Tottenham Hotspur.
Things looked rosier for the west London outfit following a 4-2 victory over Burnley, but a run of nine games without a win – which included seven defeats – saw them slump to the foot of the Premier League with a -20 goal difference.

A 2-0 loss against Liverpool at Anfield spelt the end for JokanoviÄŤ as the Fulham hierarchy opted to bring in Claudio Ranieri who, just two years earlier, had led Leicester City to an unprecedented and magical Premier League title.
It appeared to have the desired effect as the Cottagers got back to winning ways with a 3-2 triumph over Southampton. Defeat against Chelsea and Manchester United, while disappointing were perhaps expected, but Ranieri's side managed to pick up points against Leicester, Newcastle and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Fulham then ended 2018 on a high with a crucial 1-0 victory over relegation rivals Huddersfield Town to move within a point of 17th place Southampton.
But one win and six losses in their next seven games brought about another managerial change as the Cottagers dispensed with the charismatic Italian and promoted Scott Parker from his role as first team coach.

With the Craven Cottage outfit 10 points from safety, this move was perhaps seen as more of a rebuilding step – potentially preparing for life in the Championship and laying the groundwork for an assault at making an immediate return to the top flight.
A resounding 4-1 defeat at eventual FA Cup finalists Watford signalled the end of Fulham's brief stint back in the Premier League for the first time since 2014, but the writing had, in truth, been on the wall for some time.

Parker then went onto claim three successive victories – inflicting a hammer blow on Cardiff City – before ending the season with back to back defeats.
The vultures will be circling for their most prized assets. Young prodigy Ryan Sessegnon caught the attention during the Cottagers' promotion campaign and, with a year of Premier League experience under his belt, could be high on many-a top flight teams' wish lists.

One man who will be making a return to his old stomping ground this season is Cauley Woodrow, who helped fire Barnsley back into the Championship under Daniel Stendel.
The striker arrived at Oakwell from Fulham last summer and bagged 19 goals in all competitions. Reds supporters will be hoping that he can continue that form in the second tier – particularly against his former side, who have won the last four meetings.

Our most recent victory against the Cottagers was in March 2000 – a Division 1 clash in which Neil Shipperley scored the only goal in South Yorkshire.

Fulham set to welcome back controversial striker with Scott Parker granting second chance

Newly relegated Fulham could be set for a boost to their chances of an immediate return to the Premier League, with Scott Parker willing to let banished striker Aboubakar Kamara return to the club.

According to the Sun, Parker will hold stern clear the air talks with the striker ahead of a return to Craven Cottage as Kamara looks to put his bust up with team-mate Aleksandr Mitrovic behind him.

Kamara – who has two years left on his contract – has spent the last year on loan over in Turkey, but Cottagers manager Parker is willing to give him another chance with the London club as they seek an immediate return to the top flight following a miserable Premier League season.

With Fulham set to lose key players following relegation, Parker could well see Kamara as a vital cog in his team's hopes of making progress in the Championship, especially if the aforementioned Mitrovic decides to move on himself following an impressive individual campaign.

Kamara only signed for the Fulham in the summer of 2017 and played a key role as the club were promoted from the Championship under Slavisa Jokanovic. However, his bust up with Mitrovic mid-way through last season cost him his place at the club, before being shipped out to Turkey for the remained of the season.

The Verdict

This could be a welcome boost for the club if Kamara has his head right and it could well prove a bit of genius by Parker.

In all honesty, Mitrovic will probably move on, so having Kamara back in the building shouldn't cause too many issues really.

If Kamara can get his best form going, then Fulham will have a top striker at that level to lead their charge at promotion.

Fulham weighing up offer from Belgian side for flop midfielder

Championship new boys Fulham are weighing up an offer from Royal Antwerp for midfielder Ibrahima Cisse.

The 25-year-old has done very little for the Cottagers since sealing a move to the club from Standard Liege back in 2017, and according to the Sun, the Cottagers could now be tempted to sell Cisse with a ÂŁ600,000 bid in the offing from the Belgian club.

Fulham are expected to overhaul their squad this summer as Scott Parker looks to build the right mix of experience and talent across his squad to ensure they can seal an immediate return to the Premier League.

Cisse is thought to be one of the players who Parker deems suplus to requirements, and any move away from the club for Cisse will not impact the club too much one would not think.

The Guinea international was expected to play a key role when he moved to Craven Cottage, but he has struggled to adapt to life in the English game and has made just in excess of ten appearances in two years with the club.

Cissa has represented Belgium all the way up to under-21 level before switching allegiances and representing Guinea at full international level. He has spent his career in Belgium before his move to England, meaning he is a well known commodity in Belgian football.

The Verdict

Fulham have to sell here dont' they, surely?

They aren't going to get their money back for Cisse so a bid in this region might well work out for them, not to mention it moves another wage off the books.

Cisse has done nothing in all honesty in his spell in England, and he certainly won't be missed by the Fulham fans.

Club make €2m offer for Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, talks held with agent

Takvim claim Fenerbahce have made a loan offer to Fulham for their Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Turkish giants are in the market for a No.9 this summer and they've also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur's Vincent Janssen and West Bromwich Albion's Solomon Rondon in recent days.

It's reported Fener have offered €2m to Fulham to loan Mitrovic for a season and the London side will give the Super Lig club a decision soon.

According to Takvim, Fenerbahce initially wanted a loan deal with an option to buy but it's unlikely they would be able to purchase the Fulham player outright.

Mitrovic is currently away with the Serbia national team and Fenerbahce have reportedly held talks with his agent with regards to a potential move.

The striker scored 11 goals in the Premier League last season and is under contract with the Championship club until June 2023.

However, with Fulham dropping down to the Championship he may move on in this window.

Fulham braced for transfer battle as Turkish giants make first move to sign key forward

Scott Parker and Fulham could be set for a battle on their hands to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic, with Turkish giants Fenerbahce making their move.

According to Turkish news outlet Takvim, the giants of European football Fenerbahce have made the first move in the bid to sign the Serbian international, who was in fine form for the Cottagers last term despite the club being relegated back to the Championship.

It is believed a bid in the region of ÂŁ2m has beem made for Mitrovic, with a loan move being eyed up by the Turkish side as they look to take advantage of Fulham's drop into the Championship.

Manager Scott Parker is all too aware that he has a fight on his hands this summer to keep hold of a number of his star players, and Mitrovic was always going to be the sort of player who attracted big attention from across the continent.

The big Serb made a huge impression for Fulham as they were promoted from the Championship previously, and went on to impress in the Premier League too, hitting 11 goals despite his team's struggles in general.

The likes of Ryan Sessegnon, Andre Schurrle and Tom Cairney are all likely to be of interest for other clubs this summer, and Mitrovic's transfer could well be just the start of a mini exodus at the Cottage in the coming months.

The Verdict

This might make sense for Fulham to an extent, but they risk Mitrovic becoming settled in Turkey and seeking a permanent move come the end of the season.

Parker has a big decision to make, not only on that front, but in terms of who he might replace the Serbian with.

It's a tricky few months ahead for Fulham that's for sure

Revealed: Derby, Fulham & Sheffield United battle Aston Villa to sign available PL defender

Sheffield United, Fulham and Derby have joined Aston Villa in the race for free agent defender Todd Kane, Football Insider understands.

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Dean Smith's side are in the market to land the 25-year-old, whose contract at Chelsea expires this month.

The Premier League club were keen to keep hold of Kane, but they missed the deadline to take up their option in his contract allowing him to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.

Kane enjoyed a successful season on loan at Hull, making 41 appearances in all competitions and chipping in with three goals for the Tigers.

A source with knowledge of the 25-year-old's situation has told Football Insider that his impressive form for the Championship club has brought him on the radar of Villa, Sheffield United, Fulham and Derby as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of next season.

Sheffield United could be in need of a new right-back should they lose Celtic target George Baldock this summer, while Aston Villa are also in the market for full-back reinforcements after releasing Alan Hutton, Ritchie de Laet and Micah Richards at the end of the season.

Fulham are keen to strengthen their defensive options next season as they prepare for life back in the Championship.

Derby boss Frank Lampard is an admirer of Kane having played with him during his time at Chelsea and he fits the bill for them as he is a free agent, with finances set to be tight for the Rams this summer.

2 pros and 2 cons to Fulham bringing controversial striker back into fold

Fulham will be preparing for a busy summer as Scott Parker looks to overhaul his squad and ensure the Cottagers are in the best shape to win an immediate return to the Premier League.

The Cottagers suffered relegation last term following a miserable campaign in the Premier League and Parker will be keen to address certain issues within his squad, while also trying to keep hold of his best players if at all possible.

However, he is not daft, and will be fully aware he is set to lose some top stars, meaning he will have plenty of things to address in terms of bringing new players in.

Parker though could be set to take a big risk and bring back banished striker Aboubakar Kamara into the fold, with the Sun reporting that Parker is set to allow the forward back into fold with clear the air talks set to take place shortly.

Whether or not Kamara will fit back into the Fulham squad is something which remains to be seen, and we at FLW decided to have a bigger think about just whether it will be worth it for Parker to bring Kamara back into the fold.

With that then, we looked at TWO pros and TWO cons to Fulham bringing Kamara back into the reckoning...

Pro – Fulham need a striker
Make no bones about it, Fulham are going to need some firepower in the Championship.

It would be amazing to see Aleksandar Mitrovic still at the club come the end of the summer, and therefore, Kamara's return could be a welcomed one.

Con – His attitude has to be questioned
There has to be a reason he hasn't been with the club, and we all know of his original bust up with Mitrovic which saw him sent to Fenerbahce.

Scott Parker would need to be 100% sure this has been ironed out before bringing him back in, or face a similar problem later in the campaign again.

Pro – He's played Championship football before
Kamara was a part of the Fulham side which won promotion to the Premier League back in 2017/18, and having players who have done it before can be key.

While his goal record is nothing to shout home about, he might well want to prove a point and could be vital in Fulham's quest next season.

Con – Potential squad upset
As mentioned before, Kamara has had his issues with Mitrovic, but there is no telling if he also upset others within the squad with his antics.

You would assume a full squad apology might be in the offing, and it really is going to be a precarious situation for manager Scott Parker to keep on top of.

Ryan Babel says Liverpool axe began mental health battle he's still fighting

EXCLUSIVE: Babel can win the Nations League on Sunday but reveals he's been plagued by feelings of worthlessness for years

Former Liverpool winger Ryan Babel has revealed how he is haunted by the paranoid belief that everybody hates him.

The 32-year-old, who is likely to start for the Netherlands in Sunday's Nations League Final against Portugal, reckons that being ditched by Kop legend Kenny Dalglish in January 2011 sparked mental health issues he is still struggling to beat.

More than eight years on, the Dutchman recently departed Fulham after a six-month spell that ended in relegation. Babel's form at Craven Cottage was good enough to secure him a place in Holland's squad for the Nations League – but, in a brutally honest interview, he confessed how he suffers from a chronic lack of confidence.

He said: "I have played for Ajax, Liverpool and Besiktas in Turkey – all massive clubs in Europe. I play for my country and I am an established international. And yet, I know that most people think that I should not even be selected.

Babel helped defeat England to move within 90 minutes of silverware but feels nobody rates him (Image: Reuters)

"I feel this with fans and with the media. It is time I touch this subject. I don't think I have to keep it quiet any more. Nobody likes me. I know that the Holland boss, Ronald Koeman, appreciates me. But for pundits, TV commentators and in the media, I don't even exist. Every footballer plays with the hope that people love to watch you. But, for me, there is no sympathy or interest. I don't seem to have any charm for fans.

"What can I do about it? I really don't know. If they don't like you, nobody will care about you. I don't feel sorry for myself. But I do think it's time to express myself and come out with my inner feelings.

Amsterdam-born Babel was regarded as one of the game's hottest prospects when he broke through at Ajax and moved to Liverpool in a ÂŁ14million deal in 2007.

But he failed to kick-on after a promising start at Anfield and was sold by Dalglish to Germany's Hoffenheim for around £7m. Babel lost his place in Holland's squad and became something of a nomad, returning to Ajax before brief spells in Turkey, Abu Dhabi and Spain.

He said: "When I played for Liverpool, I was always picked for Holland. But when I left, I didn't get picked for my country once between 2011 and 2017.

"That was a stage in my career when I had mental problems because I was not sure if I was actually a decent footballer. If nine out of 10 people are saying you are no good as a player, you get some bad moments of reflection.

"When I was in the prime of my career, nobody wanted to sign me. Not a single club showed interest.

"My agent started to ask managers and club directors why they didn't want to sign me. The answer was always the same, 'Decent player, but not for us'. Every time. It knocks your confidence. I just had to accept it and, in the end, I decided to go for the money and I moved to the United Arab Emirates."

Babel's plummeting career finally took an upward turn two years ago when he joined Besiktas and helped the club win the Turkish title.

He regards his move to Fulham at the start of the year as another success – despite the humiliation of relegation.

The Dutchman did well for a poor Fulham side, scoring five league goals in 16 appearances (Image: Getty)

As he once again finds himself in the market for another club, Babel admits that he finally started to feel some love at Craven Cottage.

He said: "When I came back to England at Christmas and signed for Fulham, I felt that nobody was keen on me in London. Again, I did not know why. But everyone made a U-turn.

"I convinced them with decent performances and so many Fulham fans have said to me, 'Sorry, I was wrong'.My social media accounts exploded with sympathetic messages.

"I've gone from scratch to the top again. In two years, my life has gone from below freezing point to being hot again."

Spurs make Ryan Sessegnon transfer decision amid Man United, Liverpool and PSG links

Latest Spurs transfer news includes an update on Ryan Sessesgnon's future

Lucas Moura remains the last high-profile signing made by Tottenham Hotspur.

That was in January 2018 as the Lilywhites made history by becoming the first Premier League side not to spend a single penny across two consecutive transfer windows.

It hasn't stopped Mauricio Pochettino's side from progressing on the pitch; They reached the Champions League final this season and also sealed yet another top four finish.

Although, many fans will agree that the squad needs strengthening if the club are to push on and win trophies.

As a result, Pochettino is expected to be backed heavily this summer and the north London outfit have already been linked with moves for the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Bruno Fernandes among plenty others.

But the one player expected to join Spurs is Fulham winger Ryan Sessegnon.

It seems like the perfect time to make a move for the teenager as he has just a year left on that first professional deal at Craven Cottage, therefore his 50m valuation is likely to have dropped.

football.london understands that while Spurs are interested in making a move for Sessegnon they have yet to enter into talks with the west London side over a summer transfer.

But Tottenham could make their move for Sessegnon once his involvement ends in the European U21 Championships with England this month.

Whilst there is interest from Manchester United, Liverpool and PSG in Sessegnon, Tottenham have the advantage due to Sessegnon being keen on working under the guidance of Pochettino
