Real Betis eye West Ham target Mitrovic

Real Betis are interested in signing West Ham transfer target Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer, according to reports.

The Serbia international striker, who starred for relegated Fulham last season, has attracted interest from a number of clubs this summer due to his decent domestic form.

Mitrovic has reportedly been on Betis' agenda for a while, and the La Liga outfit are now keen on bringing the former Newcastle man to the Benito Villamarin, with Fulham easier to negotiate with following their relegation to the Championship.

Manuel Pellegrini is also looking to add firepower to his squad this summer, and Mitrovic is high up on the Chilean coach's wish list. However, according to the Daily Star, the Hammers haven't yet made a bid with their priorities currently elsewhere.

Mitrovic scored 11 goals in 37 Premier League appearances for the Cottagers, and would be available for just £25million this summer.

Fulham monitoring Middlesbrough and Newcastle United strikers

Fulham are monitoring Middlesbrough's Britt Assombalonga and Newcastle United's Dwight Gayle.

The new Whites' boss Scott Parker wants to strengthen his attacking options this summer, as per a report by the Daily Star.

Fulham are set to lose key forward Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer with a move to Real Betis on the cards for him, as reported by The72.

Therefore, the London side will have money to reinvest back into the squad to try and mount a promotion charge next season.

Assombalonga who is 26 years-old, has emerged on Fulham's radar. He has managed 30 goals in 92 appearances in all competitions since joining Middlesbrough from fellow second tier side Nottingham Forest in 2017.

Boro could be open to selling the former Peterborough United striker over the coming months as they look to balance the books.

Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle is also on Parker's wish list. He also may be available this summer having spent last season out on loan in the Championship at West Brom where he scored 24 times.

Gayle is a proven goal scorer and has managed 131 goals in 290 career appearances.

Fulham are in need of some reinforcements and players who have done it before in the Championship. You'd struggle to find two more proven forwards in the second tier over the past five years than Assombalonga and Gayle.

Fulham star edges closer to mega-money move away from Craven Cottage

Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is edging closer to completing a move away from the club, according to a report by the Daily Star.

The Serbian striker has long been touted for a move ever since it was clear Fulham were heading back into the Championship, and the 24-year-old now appears to be on the verge of making a move to La Liga to join Spanish side, Real Betis.

Mitrovic was one of few shining lights for the Cottagers last season as he bagged 11 goals in a miserable campaign for the club which saw Slavisa Jokanovic and Claudio Ranieri both sacked before Scott Parker was given the reins for ther run-in.

Parker is well aware he is about to oversee a bit of a change in personnel at the club, and while he will have been desperate to keep hold of Mitrovic, he will know that he is one of the club's most saleable assets as they aim to avoid any sort of financial problems.

West Ham were thought to be interested in landing Mitrovic, but it appears Betis are leading the chase for the Serbian, with both clubs willing to compromise on a fee anywhere between £22m and £30m.

Fulham are believed to want closer to the £30m mark, but both clubs are reportedly willing to compromise on that fee and come to a successful agreement.

The Verdict

This is inevitable really I think this move, with Mitrovic not likely to stick around in the Championship.

He will be good wherever he goes and it's a shame for the English game he looks like moving to La Liga.

However, the money will be good for Parker and Fulham, who will look to re-invest some of the funds raised as they look to bounce back to the top flight at the first attempt.

Fulham eye move for Newcastle United man as they look for Mitrovic replacement

Championship new-boys Fulham are reportedly eyeing a move for Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle.

According to the Daily Star, the Cottagers are keen on landing the former Crystal Palace man as a move away for Aleksandar Mitrovic edges ever closer.

Gayle smashed in an impressive 23 goals last season during a loan spell with West Brom, and Cottagers manager Scott Parker will have taken note of his ability to find the back of the net in the Championship as he seeks an immediate return to the top flight.

The 28-year-old has never quite settled long-term at any club he has moved too, with spells at Crystal Palace and Newcastle both failing to yield the kind of success that Gayle might have expected to see after his impressive goalscoring form previously with Peterborough United.

Fulham are keen on signing a new striker with Serbian Mitrovic set to seal a move to Real Betis, and Gayle could well be open to a move back to London following his poor spell in the north east with the Magpies.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is clearly open to the idea of Gayle leaving the club for pastures new, with the Spaniard quick to ship Gayle out at the start of last season.

The Verdict

What a superb signing this would be for Fulham, especially if Mitrovic does move on and find a new club.

Gayle is tailor made for the Championship and his goalscoring record backs that up perfectly.

If Fulham can land Gayle, you can expect them to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

Following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri in February 2019, the former midfielder took over as caretaker manager.

Just like Cardiff, Fulham were relegated back to the Championship in their first season back in the top flight.

3 Fulham youngsters that could become breakthrough 19/20 stars

Fulham have a rich history of bringing youth academy players through, and that doesn't look set to change as they will look to do so again after their relegation.

It was a poor season for the Cottagers, who spent so much money last summer, only to be relegated pretty early on after a terrible season.

With investment probably slightly limited, it might be a good time for Fulham to give game time to some of their young players.

The latest hit from the academy is obviously Ryan Sessegnon, who could sell for a big fee despite not a great season.

There are a number of promising players on the verge of breaking through at Craven Cottage, and here we profile three of them...

Timmy Abraham
Yes, Timmy Abraham, not Tammy.

The 18-year-old forward joined Fulham from Charlton Athletic and has been impressing in the youth team, and could definitely become a squad player in the Championship next season.

Harvey Elliott
Harvey Elliott made his debut in the Premier League at the age of 16 years and 30 days, when he came off the bench.

The midfielder has now edged himself in as the brightest star at Craven Cottage, and it'll be interesting to see how his development progresses in the Championship.

Steven Sessegnon
Steven Sessegnon, brother of Ryan, will be hoping to follow in his brother's footsteps by making a big step up in the Championship.

He plays as either a defender or midfielder, and has featured in the EFL Cup for Fulham before.

Now Fulham have been relegated, he will fancy his chances of making a step up to the first team.

Fulham eyeing up move for Leeds United's Adam Forshaw as manager Scott Parker looks to bolster his midfield ahead of the new season

Fulham are showing interest in Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw.

Manager Scott Parker is expecting an offer from Monaco for Jean Michael Seri while Andre-Frank Anguissa is also expected to depart.

Forshaw, 27, joined Leeds for £4.5m from Middlesbrough and made 32 appearances last season.

Fulham are showing interest in bringing Leeds midfielder Adam Forshaw to Craven Cottage

He is viewed as a player who can help Fulham dominate possession and has plenty of experience in the Championship.

Leeds need funds to bolster their own promotion push and are facing bids from Aston Villa for Kalvin Phillips and Tottenham for Jack Clarke.

Meanwhile, Fulham still face a fight keeping hold of Ryan Sessegnon.

The young left winger is wanted by Tottenham and Sessegnon has reportedly told the Championship side that he wants the move.

Fulham signing this breakout 21-year-old star on loan and then permanently for £10m would be a sensible coup

Fulham Opinion: Playing a gamble on Jovane Cabral could work wonders for the Cottagers

According to claims from Portuguese newspaper Record, newly-relegated outfit Fulham have been credited with an interest in Sporting Lisbon's breakout star Jovane Cabral, with manager Scott Parker looking to build a squad capable of securing promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Record understands that the Cottagers are planning to sign the impressive 21-year-old on an initial loan deal with an option to make his stay permanent for a fee of £10 million.

Cabral made eyeballs turn over the course of his breakthrough season at Sporting Lison in the Primeira Liga the last term, with the talented youngster contributing with 4 goals and 8 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions for the Portuguese heavyweights.

Born in Cape Verde, Cabral joined Sporting's youth system back in 2014 and made rapid progress through the ranks before making his debut for the 'B' team in 2016. The youngster broke into the first-team picture at the start of the last season and featured largely as an impact player from the bench, with his impressive performances earning him rave reviews from fans and pundits alike.

Cabral featured for Cape Verde in an international friendly back in 2017 but he still remains eligible to switch his international allegiance to represent Portugal at the senior international level.

Interest in the talented 21-year-old attacker is likely to be high and Fulham have every reason to look at him as a potential transfer target this summer, as the Cottagers find themselves under pressure to balance the books after over-spending in the Premier League.

Essentially a left-winger by trade, Cabral is also capable of playing out wide on the right. Noted for his lightning pace, quick acceleration, rapid shifting of gears and direct style of play, Cabral excels with his ability to take on defenders down the flanks, whilst also boasting of a good eye for key passes in the final third.

To put things into perspective, it is not difficult to see why Fulham have registered an interest in the talented breakout star and it is pretty evident that they won't have the same riches on offer in the Championship. The 21-year-old might take a bit of time to acclimatise to the style of play prevalent in the Championship but one would expect him to make the step up in due course of time, given his talent and potential.

Fulham find themselves under pressure to cope with the departure of several high-profile players, with the likes of Aleksandar Mitrovic, Jean Michael Seri, Andre Schurrle, Ryan Babel, Luciano Vietto and Ryan Sessegnon all looking likely to head for the exit door at Craven Cottage.

Hence, it is pretty clear that the Cottagers need to bring in a few reinforcements ahead of the upcoming campaign in order to reassemble a formidable unit capable of challenging for promotion.

The likes of Floyd Ayite and Neeskens Kebano would be expected to play a more significant role in the attack, while Aboubakar Kamara seems unlikely to return following his charges of misconduct the last term.

Fulham signed Lazar Markovic from Liverpool back in January but relying on the Serb too heavily might prove to be a mistake for the club, given his lack of involvement in recent seasons.

Jovane Cabral, on the other hand, looks more like the real deal and his arrival would add that extra bit of pace and unpredictability to Fulham's attack.

The 21-year-old has shown in the past that he is more than capable of terrorising full-backs and the Cottagers would be very happy if he manages to replicate his stellar performances in the Championship next season.

Having spent a fortune upon their promotion to the Premier League last summer, Fulham need to be more sensible this time around and look more bargain deals in the market. Keeping that in mind, playing a gamble on Jovane Cabral won't be a bad idea for the Cottagers.

Fulham's wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon desperately needs a successful Euros

Nobody emerged from Fulham with much credit in what proved to be a disastrous 2018/19. With their backs to the wall throughout the Cottagers scraped together just seven wins from 38 and were relegated three weeks prior to Easter. It was to put it mildly a poor show all round.

It seems unfair then to reference this calamitous campaign and highlight a nagging concern regarding one player. It seems unfair to single anyone out. That discounts though the fact that this particular player was recently considered a phenomenon; a bona fide superstar-in-the-making no less. In that context his fall has been sharper than most.

At the tail-end of the season before last with Fulham in the ascendancy and promotion-bound, a 17 year old Ryan Sessegnon collected every EFL award going. He won the Championship Player of the Year, the Young Player of the Season, and even the Apprentice of the Year for good measure. He became the first teenager outside of the top flight to be nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year while his 14 goals – scored from left-back, left wing and as an attacking midfielder – was only two short of the collective haul bagged by every other teen in his league.

His confidence on the ball astounded for someone so young. He lightning pace and quick feet caused havoc against defences that had mostly been there and worn the t-shirt. He brought to mind the remarkable emergence of Gareth Bale only not as a 21-year-old at Spurs after several seasons of incremental progress but straight away, as a wide-eyed kid fresh out of the box.

In the build-up to Russia 2018 there were even calls for his inclusion in Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad and this after the London-born flyer had made just 82 professional starts none of which were at the highest level.

Nobody knew where his development ceiling was at that juncture and that truly excited. "We believe he's going to be an important player in this country and in the future for the English national team." That's what his then manager Slaviska Jokanovic said about him ahead of January 2018.

Contrast all this hype to now and with a year remaining on his contract and with his club heading back to the Championship the big guns are circling for Sessegnon's signature. Tottenham are reported to be leading the chase with a fee of around £45m said to be sufficient to secure the services of a player who so recently was viewed as our next big hope.

Only now the hype has dimmed. The estimation of Sessegnon has settled. Even a ceiling has possibly been spied. Last term the versatile star was unable to break up a Joe Bryan/Andre Schurrle duopoly down Fulham's left and made just 26 Premier League starts. Few were of note.

This is not to suggest of course that Ryan Sessegnon has turned into a bad player over-night. It is perfectly normal for any youngster's progress to momentarily stall before picking up again. This is especially true when playing for a relegation-haunted side.

Yet it is equally true to say that this summer Sessegnon heads to Italy for England's participation in the Euro Under 21 finals with a certain pressure to perform. Do so and last season is dismissed as a blip. Fail to make any mark and doubts will set in.

Is Sessegnon a generational talent or a flash in the pan? Most likely his talents lie somewhere in between and very shortly we'll find out where.

'A real coup', 'What a signing' – Dwight Gayle interesting Scott Parker and Fulham: Opinion

As Fulham contiue to adjust to relegation from the Premier League, a lot of eyes will be on the club's manager, Scott Parker.

Parker has taken over the reins at Craven Cottage on a full-time basis after seeing out the final few weeks of the Premier League season, and he will be keen to address some issues within his squad, including incomings and outgoings in terms of his squad.

One of the key players in the Fulham squad who is being linked with a big money move away from the club is striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has been linked with a move to Real Betis.

However, the club are reportedly looking to act quickly to replace the Serbian, as the Daily Star reports that Dwight Gayle is one of two strikers Scott Parker is potentially eyeing as potentially the man to replace former Newcastle man Mitrovic.

But just how good a signing would Gayle be, and would he be worth the inevitable transfer fee it would take to prize him away from the north east?

We asked our writing team here at FLW for their thoughts on a potential Fulham move for Gayle...

Gary Hutchinson

"Too good for the Championship, not good enough for the Prem.

"It's a curse, but it does mean he can command a decent wage at a top six second-tier club all day long.

"West Brom only stayed in the top half because of him and Harvey Barnes.

"If he goes to Fulham, he scores 20 a season. This is the sort of signing they need."

Chris Gallagher
"What a signing this would be.
"Gayle was brilliant for West Brom last season, showing that he is easily one of the best strikers in the league.
"So, he would be a real coup for the Cottagers and has proven himself in the Championship throughout his career so this would make a lot of sense."
Jacob Potter
"What a coup this would be.
"Gayle has already shown in his spell in the Championship that he is one of the best in front of goal at this level.
"If Fulham had him in there team, then I'd really fancy them to win promotion back into the Premier League at the first time of asking."

'Could easily hit over 20' – Fulham showing interest in signing Middlesbrough strike ace: Opinion

Fulham's season will no doubt rest a lot on the business they do this summer as Scott Parker oversees a revamp of sorts at Craven Cottage.

A host of players are expected to leave the club following their relegation from the Premier League, and one of the biggest names who is looking likely to leave the club is striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Daily Star reports today that the Serbian could well be on his way out of the club with a move to Real Betis ready and waiting.

However, the same report also claims that Scott Parker has already identified Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga as a potential replacement for the big Serbian striker, who scored 11 goals as the Cottagers were relegated to back to the Championship.

Assombalonga has not quite justified his massive price tag since moving to the Riverside, and a move to Craven Cottage might well be the ideal scenario for him to really get his career firing.

But just how good a move for Assombalonga and Fulham would this be? We asked our writing team here at FootballLeagueWorld for their thoughts on the potential signing...

Jacob Potter
"He'd be worth the sizeable price tag.
"Fulham are likely need to need a new striker ahead of next season with Mitrovic likely to be heading for the exit door.
"Assombalonga knows the Championship well and would be deserving of a move to a club with a better chance of promotion, which Fulham certainly do.
"He'd be the missing piece in their promotion jigsaw."

Chris Gallagher
"This would be a very good signing for the relegated side.
"It's going to be hard for the Cottagers to keep Aleksandar Mitrovic, so they need to find someone who can score goals at this level.
"Assombalonga has shown over the years he can do that and in a Fulham side that should create a lot of chances he could easily hit over 20 if he stays fit."

Gary Hutchinson

"This would be a massive signing for Fulham.

"I think he was woefully under used at Boro and he proved when he does play, he scores.

"He's such a livewire and has a natural energy that has to be focused in one direction.

"Pulis wasted him but, in the right team, he's a top six striker."

'Not convinced' – Fulham plot summer move for Leeds United midfielder: Opinion

Fulham are already looking like they are putting plans in place to sort themselves out for next season.

Manager Scott Parker will be keen to keep close tabs on who he keeps in the squad and who he brings in over the summer, and with plenty of big names in the squad on big contracts, there are bound to be some Fulham players who are moved on by the club and Parker.

However, the club are still armed with Premier League money and can attract plenty of players, and one man who the club are reportedly looking to sign this summer is Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw.

The former Brentford man was a key player for the Whites last season as they missed out on promotion to the Premier League, but with regular football not guaranteed owing to the form of the likes of Phillips and Klich, Forshaw might well see this as a chance to move on.

But from a Fulham angle, just how good a signing might Forshaw be?

We asked our writing team here at FLW to give us their thoughts on if he'd be a good signing at Craven Cottage...

Chris Gallagher
"I'm not sure they need him.
"Fulham already have Kevin McDonald who is a proven midfielder at this level and plays in a similar way to the Leeds man, with Stefan Johansen and Tom Cairney as more advanced options.
"So, whilst having extra competition is never a bad thing, given the fee Leeds will want I think this would be a waste of money and they should look elsewhere."

Jacob Potter
"I'm not convinced.

"He wasn't the best last season and struggled for consistency.

"Fulham already have some strong options in the centre of midfield, and I'm not sure Forshaw would be good enough to be a regular starter for them.

"Surely there are better options out there for Fulham before next season gets underway?"

Lee Connor

"I think this is a tricky one really for Fulham, but I can see why Scott Parker does like Forshaw.

"He's very much in the mould of the Fulham manager in terms of his style of player, and he'll be looking to bring that sort of dynamism to the Fulham midfield next season.

"Forshaw can be a very good player on his day, and while he's not been amazing during his time at Elland Road, he is still a quality player who could prove a valuable asset. As long as they don't overpay, then I can see Forshaw being a decent siging for Fulham."

Forget Gayle: 3 strikers Fulham should be targeting if Mitrovic is to depart

Fulham are reportedly lining up a transfer swoop for Newcastle forward, Dwight Gayle according to the Daily Star.

They're preparing for life back in the Championship, and the report claims that Alexander Mitrovic is on the verge of joining Spanish side, Real Betis.

This means that Fulham are almost certain to be in the market for a new striker ahead of next season as they look for a swift return to the Premier League.

They have seemingly lined up Gayle as one of their number one targets, and it's clear to see why.

The 28-year-old was hugely impressive for West Brom last season, as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Gayle scored 24 league goals for the Baggies, and would fancy his chances of winning promotion with Fulham if he was to sign for Scott Parker's side.

We look at three alternatives Fulham should look at signing if they can't strike a deal for Gayle.

Find out who they are, below....

Britt Assombalonga
Assombalonga is said to be on Fulham's radar as Mitrovic's potential replacement, and that's understandable as he's a proven goalscorer in the Championship.

Middlesbrough could be willing to let him depart to free up some funds on the wage bill, and their loss could be Fulham's gain.

Neal Maupay
The Frenchman should be top of Fulham's shopping list heading into the summer, and Maupay will surely be tempted by the short move to Craven Cottage.

He scored 25 league goals for Brentford last season and is surely destined for bigger and better things, with the Bees unlikely to be challenging for promotion in next year's campaign.

Leo Bonatini
The Wolves forward spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest, but rarely featured for the Reds in a disappointing time with Martin O'Neill's side.

Bonatini was restricted to just two league starts, and didn't score in his time at the City Ground.

But he's already shown that he has the quality to cut it in the Championship, having fired Wolves into the Premier League in the past.

The whole Gayle 'will he won't he' and the almost inevitable Mitrovic and Sess exits seemed to brush over me. However Elliot being linked with an exit needed a second read through. That would be a huge shame.
