I note that normally the club thank any departing player for their service to the club, not in the Seri case though.
Good bye and close the door behind you Seri.

They have wished him luck on the website and social media. It's a loan, ie temporary, so I'm not sure "thank you" would be appropriate

Such a disappointment. Even more so because I always felt it was a lack of commitment rather than ability.

And yet, I was one of the group who kept thinking he would prove us wrong some day. Sigh! They let you down, don't they..

I thought that he was committed at the outset but possibly became disillusioned by early results and the frailties of the team around him. Not that that's any excuse, of course, in any professional.

I also think the fact that the deal we negotiated with Nice meant he lost out on his sell-on bonus may have affected his desire to play for us. Results couldn't have helped either. Hopefully he does well out there so we can recoup as much as possible.
Stand up if you still believe!

Seri was a disappointment from the off. He never showed what his specific contribution to our midfield would be; defensive cover? Creative leader? Box to box? .....none of those, just a sort of bits and pieces contribution. Lack of commitment may have been part of his problem but so was a failure to focus and insufficient ability to deliver.
As others have said Galatasaray are unlikely to be able to afford him unless we take a big hit so let's hope he puts in some really decent performances in the shop window. Unlikely I fear.

Agree!

Who will be our backup for Cairney now? O'Reilly? None of the others have excelled in that role and we all know Cairney won't be fit for 46 matches + cups.

This is a very good point - there is very little chance he will be fit for all the campaign

I think it was clear from the start that Seri was here for the money. In his first interview he didn't even bother with the usual 'happy to be here, great club' cliches. He more or less just said we offered the most money. At least that's how I interpreted that interview at the time.

You make it sound as though Cairney is crocked. Why, with the average amount of luck, should he not play 40+ games?

And what is wrong with O'Reilly or de la Torre as backup to come on when the game is won or play the odd game? How else are they to progress?

Or De la Torre. Or StefJo. Or they alter the formation slightly if Cairney goes down for a significant amount of time. Ayite, Kamara or Ivan could play with Mitro for example in a 4-4-2. I just assume that Seri is too expensive and would be too unhappy if his role was to be understudy to Tom (which was never the position he was brought in for anyway).

We all wish him well and hope we can get some big money for him. But the truth is he never came near to the understanding the pace of the Prem, his passing was iffy at best. That has much to do with the players around him not creating space or not being clever enough. If he is allowed time on the ball and space then he is good. But most leagues don't offer that luxury. Too often caught with the ball and too often hurried into mistakes. He wouldn't make it is the Championship either. He never looked as if he was one of those players who could work and create for himself.
The above IS NOT A LEGAL DOCUMENT. It is an opinion.

We may yet hear the horse talk.

I can stand my own despair but not others hope

Bye JMS. You and your awful attitude, lack of physicality, pace, drive etc wont be missed. Hope he does well so we can get our ££ back

If he proves to be a star, we will realise our problems were also in the dressing room and not just the recruitment office.

Stop making excuses for him.Problems in the dressing room?
