He's having his between-seasons' break.

Like you, I think that - even if we sign a centre-back - he and Mawson will be difficult to dislodge as our defensive pairing.

I agree that Mawson/Ream would be the ideal pairing.

But...I wouldn't bet $100 that Mawson would play over 20 games this year. Same might be said of Ream whose over 30.

They are good enough...but I don't know how reliable they are. What the hell is up with the U23 defenders in this club that they can't unseat either Ream or Odoi who are both north of 30.

It's arguable that Liverpool's second best defender is under 20 years old.

Tim Ream was announced "Player of the Year" around 15 months ago, played for USA one month ago and now some people don't even want him as a backup (i suspect he's the best backup LCB in the championship). WOW! Besides 31 years ago is not that old, Wimbledon had three players in the men's semi final older than him, Stanley Matthews won the Ballon d'Or at 41 years old and Jan Vertonghen of Spurs is older than Ream.

Ream is a good pro, someone so important to Fulham in recent years, who I'm sure takes care of himself.

These days 30 isn't the barrier it was- depends on the player.

I would have expected Ream to occupy one of the centre back positions unless we sign someone superior, I guess he is having a break after international duty.

I imagine Reams inclusion will depend on his fitness statistics only. If he is his 17/18 fitness levels, he is surely playing.
