The common sense outcome was always him staying IMO

Why does everyone think another club will offer a fortune for a player who's available cheaply or for free in less than a year's time, and isn't yet good enough to improve their team in the meantime? Always sounded very 'Irish' to me

I do wonder if FFC have actually received a bid for him at all?

All the gossip over the summer is just regurgitated nonsense relating to Spurs, maybe from his agent, trying to get him the big deal.

The fact he's still injured and not kick a ball in anger since the England game hasn't helped I'm sure.
Never ever bloody anything ever.

At some point, this line of thinking on this site will be the norm, not the exception.    It just took an entire transfer window for it to happen.

If he stays and we go up its £150 million +, worth losing the money for him....

He was our top scorer in the promotion season after all.
Never ever bloody anything ever.

He would be a bench player wont he? He wont get ahead of cav or knock
No. He is injured at the moment but who knows. If he plays like he did in our last season in the championship he will be the first name written on the team sheet

Exactly. Just because he had a tough time in the Prem (partly due to injury and mishandling by CR) does not make him a lesser player than the one that won player of the year two seasons back.  In fact he is two years older, more experienced and better developed. It is likely to be our new loan signings who will be battling for a starting berth.

Six fixtures in August and my recollection of Championship defenders traditional approach to dealing with tricky widemen suggests we might need a fair few in these positions.

I'd put Sessegnon in any starting XI.  All young players have some ups and downs but he has some particular and rare gifts.

They said on Sky talking about Elliot, Liverpool had to pay a pretty significant tribunal amount for Danny Ings; initial £6.5, with £1.5m extra incentives and 20% of a sell on fee.

If Sess stays and has as good a year as the last time round in the Championship, then you would expect a tribunal fee at least at the Ings level, if not more.

So providing he doesn't throw toys out of the pram, you'd be mad to accept anything less than £20m.

If he stays should we play 4-4-1-1 when Knockaert, Calv, Sessegnon and Bryan are all available?

Care to elaborate on how that would look?

Cairney isn't good enough defensively to play in a two man midfield

Thanks. I believe we will be seriously vulnerable with this set up, inleds Cairney developes his defensive awareness, which I find unlikely. But lots of quality going forward.

Cavaleiro is a better wide player than Sessegnon. He can go pass defenders  with ball skills in addition to speed.

Sessegnon is at his best in finishing and positioning so he would be better as the second forward.

Unfortunately, as others are saying, the midfield looks too weak defensively, particularly centrally.

All good points, but i think it's safe to say KMac and Stefjo could play a two man midfield. Allowing Ryan Sessegnon to sub for Cairney.
