So for breaking a basic rule by fielding an illegible player at MK Dons Liverpool are fined £200,000, half suspended. The EFL say it would be not right to throw the club out of the tourna because of 'mitigating circumstances'. What mitigating circumstances are those? Being a big millionaire club?  I wonder if the team defaulting had been us would we have had any mitigating circumstances?  :022:

Johny's in the basement
Mixing up the medicine
I'm on the pavement
Thinking about the government
The man in the trench coat
Badge out, laid off
Says he's got a bad cough
Wants to get it paid off
Look out kid
It's somethin' you did
God knows when
But you're doin' it again

What a joke. I'v not Read too much about this but I'd love to know what mitigates fielding an ineligible player.

The mitigation seems to be an agreement between the Club and FA regarding clearance paperwork needed by Liverpool for the Spainish player in question. He'd had a season out on loan, playing in Spain and when he came back he needed clearance to play. While it was being sorted he was allowed to play a couple of games in the league, I think.
Don't take this as gospel, it was a conversation I had with a Liverpool fan.
