So, what would you do?

Luckily, I doubt if we would experience it at Fulham. But imagine we did experience it. What would you do if you heard racialist chants, of any sort? I think, even though I am now 81, I would report it.

filham

At the first sound of it I would expect the police and stewards to act by evicting the culprits.

HV71

I hope I would report it and not be either intimidated or too scared for my own safety. We have to do the right thing - We have to stamp it out

Barrett487

Alert a steward and monitor whether it's dealt with. If it's consistent abuse, i'd record it and submit evidence.

Fulham Joe

A fair percentage of the people on here would have sung the song stanley Horne is colourful.
If I heard racist chanting, I would do absolutely nothing.

Dealt with it myself a few years ago when some horrible little man was ripping into Hayles, calling him all sorts (when he first signed and didn't exactly look great). Stewards would do nothing so had a word with him myself.
Made worse by the fact that a good mate of mine (mixed race) was with me at the game.

Surely in this transient world we're beyond racism, though the reaction of some here to Christie tweeting about his sister being racially abused, you do wonder...

Respect to those who have dealt with actual examples.  I would want to be reporting it if I encountered it and insisting the stewards acted on it (I get the impression some stewards are not keen to do their job).

Generally falls into the "not my fault, not my problem" category for me and I'm not going to join the virtue signalling by pretending otherwise. With that said, if someone was giving a Fulham player any serious abuse (eg racist abuse) near me, that becomes my problem so I like to think I'd intervene.

Regrettably we most certainly are not.
The world is made up of electrons, protons, neurons, possibly muons and, definitely, morons.

Interesting thread Mr P, personally I would report it immediately and if you and Bog were nearby would confront the person.
The atmosphere's fresh and the debate lively.

Sgt Fulham

Depends doesn't it. If it's a group of them, looking for a fight I would probably try go through the stewards. If it was one idiot then I would probably tell him to shut the hell up. Never heard it at the Cottage myself thankfully, though I'm sure it happens occasionally.

A few years ago we were playing Spurs at the time that their now banned Jewish chant was being heard. I am fair minded and when a Fulham player was punished to the anger of the home crowd I voiced my agreement with the decision. I was immediately turned on by two Fulham supporters who were surprisingly aggressive and wanted to know if I was Jewish 'as I certainly looked it'. It was not a pleasant experience particularly as I am not and do not consider myself to look Jewish but it did show that racism exists everywhere even among our own.

That's terrible. Just goes to prove that we shouldn't get all sanctimonious about our fan base.
