The more I think about it, the more it was all worked out in the training ground. Win toss, play with sun behind back of the left winger.  Ping ball to BDR, who will be coming out of the sun. Stearman was statuesque, but it's doubtful he could see properly.  So maybe he's not quite as bad as that goal would make him appear.
